Tatcha Forest Awakening Body Care Review

I’m such a big fan of Tatcha, everything I have tried to date I have just loved, especially The Water Cream, now I'm so delighted that there is a body care range and in true Tatcha form, it has the wow factor. 

The Tatcha Forest Awakening collection is based around the concept of forest bathing. The Japanese have long held sacred their connection to the natural world and Shinrin-yoku, or Forest Bathing to you and I and it involves immersing the five senses in nature and it is proven to increase well-being with benefits such as reducing stress, improving sleep and boosting the immune system.

The new Forest Awakening Body Collection is rooted in naturally healing essential oils and proven skincare ingredients to nourish the mind and soul and there is two key ingredients to note:

• Forest Awakening Essential Oil Blend - Includes cedar, hiba, and hinoki, oils known to contain organic compounds proven to reduce stress, lift mood, and help improve well-being.
• Hadasei-3 - Tatchas proprietary complex of double-fermented Akita rice, Uji green tea, and Okinawa algae to support the skin barrier, provide antioxidant protection and plump the skin with hydration.

So the three products within this range make up a three-step ritual and I am hoping this will soon become a quartet with the addition of a bathing product!

Starting with Step 1 - The Purifying and Polish step using the Hinoki Body Wash (£35). As a scrub it isn't overly abrasive as it uses eco-friendly cellulose to work its magic, instead of those dreadful microbeads we used to see everywhere. Add to that is the inclusion of that Forest Awakening Essential Oil Blend: Includes cedar, hiba, and hinoki, oils known to contain organic compounds proven to reduce stress, lift mood, and help improve well-being.

I adored this product from the first use, its a silky smooth as a body wash can be but it does a wonderful exfoliating job and as the description states, the scent is simply magical and it just transports you to a place of calm and relaxation.

Step 2 is Nourish and for this step you need the Hinoki Body Milk (£50). Ideal for use on dry skin, this milk works to strengthen the moisture barrier as it calms and relaxes the mind for a restorative moment of self-care. 

Alongside the Forest Awakening Essential Oil Blend you will also find Peach Tree Leaf Extract which is known for its ability to renew dry skin to give that smoother, healthy-looking complexion and then Plant-Derived Squalane which is a natural component of the skin’s lipid barrier which helps to lock in moisture to restore smooth, soft, and supple skin. It is hard not to love this body milk, it is lightweight, it has that addictive scent found in the body wash and it absorbs into the skin without leaving any residue behind, just lovely supple skin.

Then finally we have the third step and that is Cocoon with the Hinoki Body Oil (£61). Designed to seal in moisture and soften rough patches, this body oil is simply divine. Non-greasy, this oil again uses that Forest Awakening Essential Oil Blend and with it a Natural Hinoki Oil Blend which helps lock in moisture and provide suppleness to the skin.

I use this oil after showering and often before applying the body milk because I feel my skin gets more of a benefit from the two being applied that way.   I love that it is a non-greasy oil and the scent is again, just pure magic.

As you can see, I absolutely love this range, I love the while story behind its conception, the idea of being at one with nature and of course how it leaves my skin feeling. It isn't on the affordable side of body care products but if it is a collection you want to try, then Space NK has a set of the three in a gift box for just £54 HERE and it is definitely worth trying before splurging on the full size offering.

Beauty Advent Calendar News 2023

We might only be in July, but news of Beauty Advent Calendars for 2023 is here and this is the page you will be needing to look at for all the latest news, updates, waiting lists, prices and content reveals, all of which I will share as they come in.

In 2022 there was a huge explosion with brands releasing advent Calendars, the list of which you can see here, and as always, if you want to get your hands on one of these, the waiting lists are beginning to open and here is what there is so far.

1. Acqua di Parma - A luxury 25 day Advent Calendar featuring a selection of luxurious Signatures of the Sun and Home Collection in full and travel sizes. Priced at £450 here
2. Anthropologie - The Anthropologie Beauty Advent Calendar 2023. It launches on 26th October and is said to be worth £300 and will go on sale for around £78. The calendar contains 24 beauty products, with 15 of them being full-sized. Full spoilers here.
3. Armani Beauty - This calendar is said to be worth £450.00 and is on sale now priced at just £270.00. Find it here.
4. Arran - The Arran Advent Calendar 2023 is said to be worth over £150 and will go on sale priced at £70.00. The waiting list can be found here.

6. Aurelia - The 12 Days of Skin Magic features five full sized products and also includes the brands best-seller - the Miracle Cleanser. On sale now priced at £150
7. Avant Skincare - The AVANT Skincare Zodiac Advent Calendar: 12 Days of Beauty! 2023 launches soon and as always there is a waiting list, though it does offer 10% off. This calendar is a 12 day offering which is said to be worth £877 and it will go on sale for just £99 and you can see a full review here with spoilers.
8. Avon - 24 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar. Said to be worth £190.25, it is on sale now for just £65. Featuring some of the brands top selling products, such as Anew Renewal Power Serum. Buy here

10. Baylis & Harding - The Signature For Him 12 day Advent Calendar, on sale now for £45 at Boots.
11. Benefit Cosmetics - The Benefit All I Want For Christmas beauty advent calendar for 2023 has launched, it features 24 products, four of them will be full sized, six minis and 14 fun-size products, including Benetint and Gimme Brow. Full review with spoilers here.
12. Bobbi Brown - The 2023 Bobbi Brown Advent Calendar will launch in October and is a 12 day Advent Calendar, priced at £185. Full review here
13. Boots x 17 Advent Calendar - This is a 24 days of limited edition cosmetics and accessories and is priced at just £30 and if it has your attention, there is a full review with spoliers here.
14. Boots x MacMillan - Back for 2023, the Charity collaboration Calendar with Boots and Macmillan is better than it has been for a few years. It will be on sale for £90 and if you want to see the spoilers of that is inside, the full review can be found here.
15. Boots Premium Advent Calendar - Launching a Premium Beauty Boots Advent Calendar for 2023.Launching on 12th September, it will feature 24 products of which 14 will be full size and it is priced at £99.00. Full details and spoilers here.

30. Dr Hauschka - The Dr Hauschka 2023 Advent Calendar will be a 24-day calendar. Inside it will contain 23 travel-size products, including a tinted day cream, soothing cleansing milk and calming bath oil, as well as a full-size hydrating cream mask. Worth £133 it will be on sale for £99.

32. ESPA - Launching later this month, the waiting list for the ESPA Wellness Advent Calendar has opened right here. Now launched here.
33. Eve Lom -  The Eve Lom Advent Calendar 2023 is said to be worth £419 and will launch on 19th September priced at £225.00. The calendar contains 12 products.
34. Fenwick - 12 days of Beauty Advent Calendar. Launches on 5th October, priced at £165 but the contents are worth £791.  Full review here
35. Fortnum & Mason - On sale now, the Fortnum & Mason Beauty Advent Calendar 2023 is said to be worth over £1000 and it includes 19 full-sized products.
36. Fresh Beauty - Worth almost £400, this Advent Calendar launches on the 1st October and full details and spoilers are right here.
37. Gatineau - The Gatineau 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar will feature four full sized products and will be priced around £65, going on sale in September. You can find a full review here with spoilers.

45. Jo Loves - The Jo Loves Advent Calendar will be priced around £365 and will be on sale from 5 October online and in the Jo Loves London, Elizabeth Street store.
