Scientia Beauty Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum

Scientia is a brand I have swooned after for a very long time after seeing my social media feed raving about the Peachy Clean Milky Oil Cleanser. So, having been given the chance to try their newest launch, I jumped at the chance. Meet the Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum (£34).
Scientia Beauty Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum
The Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum comes packaged inside in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser to ensure the application is easy and stress-free.
Get younger looking, plumper and more radiant skin with this restorative Cell Renewal Youth Serum, powered by high performing, cell rejuvenating and collagen-boosting actives.
The Scientia Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum Promises to plump, smooth and firm your skin whilst at the same time reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also harnesses the power of amino acid peptide, vitamin C, and glycerin to minimise the appearance of wrinkles while improving elasticity and re-hydrating your skin and if that isn't enough the lightweight formula also uses a ceramide complex to cocoon the skin and protect its barrier function from future aggressors.
Scientia Beauty Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum
Scientia Beauty Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum
On my skin, this golden serum is incredibly smooth and lightweight, so the application is an absolute breeze and as advised, I massage 2-3 pumps in very gentle upwards strokes onto my freshly cleansed skin, after using my Caudalie toner.

Fragrance free, you will find the list of ingredients is incredibly impressive and having read a lot of reviews across Instagram on the brands products, the one stand out is the impressive list of ingredients which are used and this serum is no different.

The key ingredients are:
  • Amplified amino-acid peptide solution & Snap-8™ peptide to help smooth fine lines, plump wrinkles, re-define facial contours and firm.
  • Vitamin C & Ferulic Acid to tackle visible signs of photo damage and aging
  • A ceramide complex improves skin elasticity and barrier function.
  • Polyglutamic Acid & Glycerin draw water into the skin, deeply hydrating
  • Bakuchiol, a natural ingredient that functions similarly to retinol
Over the last few months, I have added this serum into my daily routine using it both morning and evening and my skin definitely feels much more hydrated and smooth but my redness is also much more calm than it has been, despite having just had a cold and a bout of bacterial conjunctivitis.

If you are looking to add a new serum to your routine, you won’t be disappointed with the Scientia Beauty Plumpex Cell Renewal Youth Serum.

How to plan a romantic Valentine’s Day

It’s a holiday that celebrates love, so now’s your chance to be make your partner feel really special with a romantic gesture. That means thinking outside of your daily routine and planning something that will become a treasured memory for you both.
How to plan a romantic Valentine’s Day

Of course, there are countless ways to do this, and the first step is to think about who you are as a couple. Maybe you like surprising each other with gifts, maybe you like the finer things in life, or maybe you just want to spend some quality time together. Whatever it is, these ideas should give you plenty of inspiration.

Plan ahead
Valentine’s Day is a busy time for businesses and restaurants, so as soon as you know what you’d like to do together, get it booked in plenty of time. Not only does it mean that you get to enjoy your day, evening or weekend together as planned, it will also show your partner how much you care.

From the flowers to the card, the food and the bubbly, the reservations and the taxi, having all these things sorted in good time will save you a whole load of stress and see your celebration go smoothly.

Gifts
Getting the gift just right can be a tricky task. Maybe you think flowers and chocolates are too clichéd whilst you might not have been dating long enough to warrant a weekend away. If you don’t want to do anything too over-the-top, opt for a day date that keeps things casual and breezy.

If you’ve been going out a long time and are sick of giving the predictable flowers and stuffed love love-hart, step it up a gear with a luxury piece of jewellery or spice things up by gifting a red lingerie set. That’s bound to light a few sparks!

Dress code
If you’ve organised an evening out together, get into the spirit of things by selecting a dazzling outfit that will take your date’s breath away. If you’ve been together for a long time, consider this even more of a reason to pull out your glad rags and revive some of those first-date flutters.

Of course, the dress code depends on what you have planned. For something outdoorsy, dress warm and comfortable. You don’t want your date to stop short because you didn’t bring enough layers or a waterproof!

Quality time
Many couples use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to simply spend some quality time together. You don’t even have to go out! Try preparing a special meal together or exercising your competitive side over a board game. Whatever you like doing as a couple, do it! When it comes to Valentine’s Day, there are no rules.

The 5 best and natural ways to retain water in the body

Water retention in the body is still very common. It can be encountered in both women and men. However, due to hormonal fluctuations, it is more common in ladies. How can you deal with this problem? We have 5 tips for you.

1. Increase your water intake - eliminate the cause
Is water retention dangerous? It is certainly a condition in which the balance in your body is disturbed. This means that not all your organs are working as you would like them to. As a result, there can be a lot of inconvenience associated with it. Sometimes this has certain health consequences.

Therefore, eliminate the main cause of water retention in your body. Increase your fluid intake throughout the day. If you are under-hydrated, the body tries to protect you from a life-threatening condition. Therefore, reach for water more often.

2. Excess water is accumulated by salt - limit it
Salt causes water retention in the body. This needs to be prevented, so try to limit its consumption. Remember to minimise its amount, not only in your kitchen. Fast food contains a lot of this spice, so avoid it.

3. Avoid water retention through physical activity
Always remember the golden rule regarding your health. It is much easier to prevent any illness than to treat it. A great way to do this is to introduce physical activity into your life. By doing so, you take care of many aspects related to your body.

Not only do you maintain a healthy weight, but you also look after your heart and the balance of your body. We are also talking about the correct level of water in the body. Remember that just a few minutes of exercise a day is enough to prevent many diseases.

4. Reach for nutritional supplements
Already have a problem with excess body water? Wondering how to combat it? Then look for nutritional supplements. Be sure to choose only tried and tested products with a good composition. One company that offers suitable kits is Your Secret Is. They also deal with the phenomenon of excess water accumulation in the body.

If this problem concerns you, consult your doctor or nutritionist. This way, you will gain confirmation that dietary supplements are a very good solution. They will help you to get rid of your problems. Of course, these products cannot replace a proper diet, water and exercise. However, they will serve as an excellent support in the fight against swelling and other symptoms.

5. Increase your magnesium intake
Magnesium is responsible for stabilising the hormonal balance in women. During menstruation, its absorption can be impaired. As a consequence, a deficiency can occur, which contributes to the accumulation of water in your body.

Therefore, as a preventative measure against fluid retention in the body, reach for magnesium supplements. In this way, you can holistically benefit all the systems in your body.

Elle Naturelle Indra Eau De Parfum

Meet Indra, one of three fragrances from Elle as part of their NaturELLE collection. Described as being a trio of ingredient focused, exquisite fragrances; sustainably and ethically sourced.  Not the first magazine to launch fragrances, it has done it exceptionally well.

Each one of the three fragrances - Azra, Indra and Mira supports women and children as part of a give back programme.  Indra, which is the fragrance I have supports women and children effected by domestic violence in New Caledonia. The top notes of the fragrance greet you with Mandarin combined with Ozonic and Fauna notes to give it that fresh and refreshing before the heart notes bring in the powdery notes of Mimosa and Mandarin Blossom which are just beautiful but it is the base notes of Sandalwood, Musk and Cedar Wood which bring together those sturdy, rich musky notes and when they with the heart notes it lingers on the skin.

4 key ways to maintain your eye health

Eye health is a big issue in the UK – in 2022, a report from Specsavers stated that sight loss and blindness were responsible for an economic cost of £36 billion in 2019 alone; a sum expected to rise by £2.5 billion by 2024.
4 key ways to maintain your eye health

50% of sight loss is avoidablethat's why it is crucial we all do what we can do to maintain healthy eyes, including doing regular eye checks. If you are in London, for example, you could look for an eye clinic in London with specialist consultants to assist you

Take care with glare

While winter is indeed darker, the sun can cause eye problems in the chilly months just as much as in the hot. In the winter, the sun hangs lower in the sky, which can create glare on paths, roads, and cars. And when it’s snowy, UV rays are reflected up from the snow to your eyes.

As such, make sure to bring a pair of sunglasses out with you when you go on walks on sunny winter days, and keep a pair in your glovebox in case your drive is hit by sudden glare.

Consider room temperature

In winter, the use of dehumidifiers and central heating can reduce the amount of humidity in our homes. Our eyes need moisture though, so to stop itchiness and dryness, moisturise your eyes regularly if you wear a pair of contact lenses – especially monthly lenses – and have a moisturising spray on hand for when your eyes feel tired and red.

Mind your devices

Our devices are a key driver of poor or positive eye health – all that bright, blue screen light can cause our eyes to strain, as well as cause headaches and poor sleep. As such, reduce the brightness of your smartphone, laptop, monitor, and TV where possible.

Unless you work on colour-sensitive tasks like graphic design or photo editing, the reduced brightness won’t have any effect on the experience, and in the case of portable devices, you’ll increase the battery life of your devices too.

Lead a healthy lifestyle

Believe it or not, diet can affect your eye health too. Antioxidants found within food (such as zeaxanthin and lutein) are important for purging your eyes of free radicals – molecules that form naturally in your body but can damage cells within the eye and rest of body.

Certain foods contain higher levels of these eye-friendly antioxidants, so be sure to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, omega-3-rich fish, and whole grains – washed down with plenty of water. It’s also a good idea to stop smoking, since smoke getting in your eyes won’t do them any good.

What do you do to keep your eyes in good condition during the winter months? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Four Aesthetic Ideas for Your New Bedroom Look

Redecorating is a task that is equal parts stressful and fun. In between all the admin of planning your renovations, booking handymen, and figuring out how to use certain tools for the umpteenth time, there is that same excitement that would take you over as a young child choosing their room colour for the first time.

Four Aesthetic Ideas for Your New Bedroom Look
Indeed, the way you choose to decorate can say a lot about who you are as a person, whether bright yellows for an innovative soul or light blues for an open, airy personality. If you find yourself stuck for bedroom decoration inspiration, you could always reverse-engineer these principles – right down to some core aesthetic values you hold. But what might these look like? Here are four strong examples with trendy pedigree:

Cottagecore

Cottagecore aesthetics have been taking the internet by storm in recent years, inspiring everything from Tumblr mood boards to outfits and even entire lifestyles. The “-core” suffix has been used to describe specific and niche trends or genres online for some time, inspiring some unique frameworks for aesthetics and style; cottage-core is one of the most popular, encapsulating a particular rural cosiness that comes from a traditional countryside cottage.

But how to incorporate this in your bedroom? Natural colours and materials are paramount, whether ‘raw’ linens and cotton or unvarnished wood furnishings. Rugs, blankets, and throws are a must, while matte neutral colours on the walls can help reinforce the cosy vibes.

“Soft Girl”

The soft-girl aesthetic is a close relative of cottage-core, having originated similarly and cultivated a similarly enthusiastic following. This time, though, the trend has emerged more fully on video sharing platform TikTok, as people share their fashion tips, shopping hauls, and, yes, their bedroom décor.

Soft girl aesthetics also have an element of nostalgia attached to them, harking back to the gel pinks and glitter of the early-00s. Pastel pinks and bright accents perk up a room in that familiar candy-gloss fashion, while maximalist displays of plushies and dolls fill out the space. Soft touches to your finishings, such as smooth surfaces and soft fabrics, gives you complete control over every aspect of your room’s colour, finish and feel.

“Boho”

Bohemian, or “boho” style has been around for generations now, and, like many other quintessential aesthetics, enjoys its peaks and troughs of popularity. While boho may appear to be on the downswing at the moment, interest in this hippy-influenced smart-slacker style is fast regaining ground. Bohemian chic is often defined by its worldliness; European aesthetic instincts meet Middle Eastern fabrics and textiles, to create a vibrant space that is equal parts vibrant and chilled.

“Indie”

Just as soft-girl aesthetics seek to capture a specific feeling through a snapshot of a time gone by, so too does indie aesthetic. Indie encompasses the best of alternative culture in the 1990s, from the grungy heights of Nirvana’s fame to The Strokes’ reinvention of New York rock ‘n’ roll.

Indie aesthetics are very much in the eye of the beholder and can signify either the quiet cool of early alternative rock or the countercultural swagger of leading underground artists. What they share in common are bold colours and a maximalist style not dissimilar in effect to soft-girl aesthetics – only using posters and alternative artwork instead of dolls and plush toys.

Arran Sense of Scotland Glen Iorsa Collection

Having shared my love for the Arran Sense of Scotland Hot Toddy Candle, the collection I am sharing with you today could not have come at a better time! Meet the Arran Glen iorsa range.
Arran Sense of Scotland Glen iorsa Collection
At this time of year when we are on a festive comedown, back to work, trying to get back into a routine, deal with the stresses of modern living and the weather, taking time out for yourself has never been so important and with these products, creating a spa-at-home sanctuary is a breeze.

I am often at my most relaxed in water, perhaps being a Cancerian is the reason for this, but the bathroom is a place of sanctuary and self-care; a place where I feel I can retreat to unwind, take time for me, wash the stress away and just relax. I am a huge fan of products which have a calming and relaxing influence over my sense of self and with Glen iorsa you get the notes of lavender and spearmint blended with tiny indulgences of geranium, sage & patchouli. Glen Iorsa takes its name from the calm serenity of a remote glen on the Isle of Arran.

Starting with Glen Iorsa Lavender and Spearmint Bath & Shower Gel (£16) and it is the most wonderful scent to relax and unwind with.
Arran Sense of Scotland Glen Iorsa Collection
Described as being the ultimate scent to help you relax and transport you into a world of tranquillity and peace, the Glen Iorsa Bath and Shower Gel is fragranced with the essential oils of lavender for soothing skin and relieving stress, with spearmint oil for refreshing and resetting body and mind.  It is also enriched with Pro-Vitamin B5, so not only does this bath &shower gel cleanse and nourish the skin, the lavender calms and reduces stress and the spearmint awakens and resets the body and mind.

Once you've finished showering or bathing, the second product I have to share is the Glen Iorsa Lavender and Spearmint Calming Pillow Mist Spray (£15) which is just divine.
Arran Sense of Scotland Glen Iorsa Collection
This mist is designed to promote relaxation and create a sense of peace and as with the bath & shower gel, it has the calming properties of this Lavender and Spearmint.

Sink into a relaxing sleep amidst the soothing aroma when used as a pillow spray. To use, the advice is to spray a couple of spritz onto the skin directly after showering or bathing or within your room before settling down for the night and it can also be sprayed directly onto your pillow to promote a restful night's sleep.

Having both the Lavender and Spearmint together is not a blend I've come across in many products and unsure how it was going to work but I can't tell you just how wonderful it is and definitely a scent concoction that would be amazing to use in an oil diffuser.  Alongside the bath & shower gel and the calming mist, this range also has a body lotion, soap, hand wash and hand cream in the same scent.

Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection

Forever a fan of Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic, I was delighted when the Botanical Collagen Collection from Pixi Beauty arrived. Designed to improve skin elasticity for more beautiful and youthful-looking skin, I have four products from the range.
Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection
The first product is the Botanical Collagen Tonic, anyone who is familiar with Pixi Beauty will know just how good their Tonic range is.  Soothing, hydrating and refreshing, this tonic helps to volumise, firm and revitalise skin's elasticity. Infused with Botanicals to provide antioxidant benefits while promoting a youthful-looking complexion, you will find Coconut water which works to hydrate, Peptides to firm and Collagen to boost elasticity.
Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection
Applying a few drops of the tonic to a reusable pad, the first thing I noticed is how hydrating it is, probably the most thirst quenching of all the Pixi tonics I have used over the years and despite being fragrance free, there is the slightest hint of coconut, which isn't too domineering, but just gives it a little extra.

The second product is the Plump Collagen Boost Sheet Masks (x3) and again, I am a hug fan of Pixi Beauty Sheet masks and have constantly repurchased Glow Glycolic Masks because they are just so good.
Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection
If you are familiar with Pixi sheet masks, you will know that they are always saturated in serum, which, my dry, dehydrated skin absolutely loves.  These masks again contain Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides and Botanical Collagen, as well as some Glycolic Acid, which come together to help brighten, hydrate and restore balance to the skin. I find my skin has a slight glow and feels nourished after using and they are perfect for using as part of your self-care routine.

The third product within this collection is the Botanical Collagen Lip Gloss and admittedly I am not a fan of lip gloss if it is sticky or tacky when used, so I was a bit apprehensive about trying this.
Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection
Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection
A clear gloss, the texture is like a lip balm with its thick and silky texture instead of being sticky like a standard gloss. When using, my lips feel plump and have a fuller look and because it contains Peptides, Acacia Collagen and Vitamin E to nourish, volumise and replenish the lips.

The final product in this collection is the Botanical Collagen Eye Serum and I ave absolutely loved using it.
Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection
Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection
This serum is incredibly lightweight on the skin and absorbs pretty much as soon as it is applied. Formulated to rejuvenate and revitalise the delicate eye area while helping preserve youthful-looking skin it uses Acacia Collagen which which works to volumise and rejuvenate, Adenosine which soothes and smooths before finally the use of Hyaluronic Acid which firms and hydrates.

So there you have four amazing products from the Pixi Beauty Botanical Collagen Collection and I have enjoyed using all of them. Alongside the products I have shared, the Botanical Collagen range is quite extensive and you can find everything on sale with Pixi Beauty or Marks & Spencer with prices starting from just £10.

GloWish Blur Jam Smoothing Primer by Huda Beauty

Aside from a few palettes, Huda Beauty isn't a brand I am all that familiar with, though I do see products featured across my social media of course.  Over the past month or so, I have been using a product that not only grabbed my attention with its name - Blur Jam, but it is incredible.
Glowish Blur Jam by Huda Beauty
The GloWish range is described as being a line that exists at the intersection of flawless finishes and skin-loving ingredients to reveal a natural, easy-glowing look.  To that end, GloWish Blur Jam Silicone-Free Smoothing Primer is said to instantly mattifying to provide a perfect, breathable and shine-free base.
Glowish Blur Jam Smoothing Primer by Huda Beauty
Glowish Blur Jam Smoothing Primer by Huda Beauty
For anyone, who like me, has oily combination skin, a primer is an absolute must-have product if you want to keep your makeup in place (along with a finishing spray) and over the years, I have tried countless primers in the quest to find the perfect one, both with and without silicone.

Blur Jam is silicone free as well as featuring no fragrance or alcohol and it is made from a 90% naturally-derived formula and is Vegan Friendly. All of that aside, it does contain a powerhouse of ingredients which includes:
  • Damascus rose water: Soothes, clarifies and locks in extreme moisture
  • Prickly pear: A rich source of vitamins and antioxidants to provide intense hydration
  • Cactus flower: Hydrates, calms and soothes skin while supporting a strong skin barrier
For me, the best part about this strawberry jam looking primer is its texture because it is exactly as I hoped it would be from the name and it is a lot of fun.
Glowish Blur Jam Smoothing Primer by Huda Beauty
Glowish Blur Jam Smoothing Primer by Huda BeautyAs you can see, it is bright red, looks very much like jam and spreads just as easily (without a knife of course) and all without being sticky, tacky or icky on the skin, in fact it is the exact opposite and is soft, smooth and really lightweight on the skin as well s hydrating.

It instantly smooths the skin and is great for mattifying the complexion, all of which are amazing because, even if you decide not to wear makeup, you can still use this primer on its own.  However, it really does help to keep that shine at bay and my makeup too.

Priced at £29 it is a really great primer and I am glad I have a back up!

Researching the watch and the brand is key to understanding what kind of watch you want to buy. With so many brands out there, make sure you’re buying from the right one by looking at their history and checking to see if they are an ethical company.

Some might be buying a watch purely for the brand. Omega watches are just one example of how reputation precedes a product, with many people clamouring to showcase this highly esteemed brand on their wrist.

Read the fine print
When buying a watch, you’re not just buying the time-telling device. With something so valuable, there will be all kinds of costs and insurances that cover every scenario, as well as fixing repair costs, warranties and accessories.

Before buying your watch, check every bit of information related to your purchase. If you want to add another level of insurance, do it whilst you’re buying your watch instead of later.

Ask plenty of questions
If you’re not sure about something, don’t shy away. Ask someone. Understandably, you want to know where your money is going with such a significant purchase, so ask every question that comes to your mind.

This is especially important when it comes to clauses of the buying contract and matters of insurance and warranties. You don’t want to be caught out if you ever damage, lose or get your watch stolen. If you want an extra safety blanket, ask for everything to be formalised in writing. This way, you have proof should something go wrong.

Investigate the website itself
In the case of buying a luxury watch, you don’t want to purchase from a ghost store with no physical stores. Only buy from trusted brands who you can visit on the high street should you ever need any repairs or have any questions.

A brand’s authenticity will make you feel more confident in your purchase. Many also have customer service agents ready to answer any questions on the chatbot service.
