CurrentBody LED Mask + 20% off discount code!

Alongside the Dr Harris Anti-Wrinkle Sleep Mask, The Currentbody LED face mask has been the most popular and most featured LED face mask that has appeared across my social feed for as long as I can remember and having been lucky enough to give it a try, I can see why there is hype!

I think for many of us, the last few years have taken its toll in one way or another and I am all for using and doing anything and everything I can to sort my skin out. Having caught Covid (and yes I am vaccinated and boosted), I have been left with long-Covid, made up of fatigue, very little sense of taste and smell and then my skin is really still quite angry at me and is combination oily as it always was, but it is now really dry.  So, having moved on to vitamins and supplements, I have been lucky enough to incorporate the CurrentBody LED Mask, which I have used for a short time, so if like me, you are curious as to why EVERYONE raves about this mask,  keep reading so I can explain more about it, then as a treat, I have a 20% off code that works for the Currentbody LED mask!

Did you know that Light therapy was originally developed by NASA for healing wounds in space? Me either until now and since then the US Navy Seals have used it and then aestheticians introduced it into their treatment rooms, so I feel it is something rather special. LED light therapy is backed by a whole lot of clinical data that claims it will not only help to skin repair, stimulate collagen, fade age spots and decrease inflammation, it will also smooth the skin. Now of course, with at-home light therapy, we can reap even more benefits - no downtime, use it when you want to, no booking process or salons to visit and best of all, it is incredibly easy to use.
‘Nourished, healthy skin that is visibly glowing and is clinically proven to reduce wrinkles by 35% in just 4 weeks.’
This CurrentBody LED Mask is fully flexible, so really comfortable to wear and it works to deliver the perfect dose of dual LED light directly to the skin, which is absolutely pain-free, if you do find that you are over-sensitive to light, pop on the comfort goggles, which are provided inside the box to protect your eyes

CurrentBody states that this device has been made to medical device directives and delivers the same clinically-proven wavelengths as professional salon machines and it uses both red light and near infra-red light.
  • Red light (633nm) - stimulates the production of new collagen, calms redness and evens the skin tone
  • Near infra-red (830nm) - penetrates and works beneath the skin’s surface to boost circulation, improve blood flow and boosts oxygen to the skin’s cells.
These two wavelengths work below the skin’s surface to stimulate the natural rejuvenation process, creating a complexion that is visibly glowing and noticeably healthier looking.  The mask’s flexibility also ensures that the maximum amount of light hits the lower layers of the skin, delivering both instant and long term results.

To use this mask effectively you should aim to use it around 4/5 times a week for just 10 minutes over a period of 4 weeks at a time and then you can repeat this throughout the year as and when you need or want to. It should be used on cleansed, exfoliated skin to form part of your skincare routine, so I tend to use mine in an evening after completing my skincare routine and any other household chore, just to sit down for 10 minutes of R+R.

The mask is charged via a USB plug and you may need to charge it for a few hours when you first get it, but once it is fully charged, you can, if you wish move around freely whilst wearing it as you are not tethered to a wall and a plug socket, though the lights are really bright so it is hard to see anywhere other than in front of you. Once those 10 minutes are up, the mask will beep and turn itself off and you’re done for the day.

I am only part way through my 4 week initial usage of this mask, so will update this post in due course. However, what I have noticed is a lot less redness and my skin looks less angry and annoyed, so I am looking forward to seeing what my skin is actually like after this initial process. So far, I love that this LED Mask requires so little effort and is a delight to use.

The Currentbody mask comes in at £295, making it one of the most affordable masks that you can purchase and using my code RACHEL, you can get yourself a 20% discount! The CurrentBody Skin’s LED mask is made of silicone, so it’s soft and flexible, making it comfortable to wear so that fits the contours of the face without dragging or pulling like some similar masks I have tried.

Treating Acne Scars: Exploring Effective Solutions

Acne scars affect both appearance and self-esteem. Fortunately, the quest for smoother skin has led to the development of various treatments. From topical solutions to surgical interventions, there are various options to help you reclaim your skin's beauty. For those considering treatment, exploring laser scar removal in London can be an excellent starting point.
Treating Acne Scars: Exploring Effective Solutions

Introduction

Acne is a common skin condition that leaves its mark long after the blemishes have healed. Acne scars can vary in type and severity, making tailored treatment essential for effective results. Addressing these scars is not just about aesthetics; it's about restoring confidence and enhancing one's overall sense of well-being. With numerous treatments available, understanding the options can empower you to choose the best path for your skin.

Topical Treatments

Retinoids
Retinoids are a cornerstone in acne scar treatment. These vitamin A derivatives, such as tretinoin and adapalene, accelerate cell turnover and stimulate collagen production. This dual action helps reduce fine lines and refine skin texture, making scars less noticeable over time. Retinoids are particularly effective in treating atrophic scars, which are shallow depressions in the skin.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C, renowned for its antioxidant properties, plays a pivotal role in skin healing and brightening. Ascorbic acid serums can significantly reduce pigmentation and even out skin tone, making post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) less pronounced. Regular use of vitamin C can also enhance the skin's overall radiance and resilience.

Chemical Peels
Chemical peels involve applying a solution to the skin to exfoliate its top layers, prompting regeneration and reducing scar visibility. The depth and type of peel determine its suitability for different scar types.

Types of Peels
Superficial Peels: Utilise mild acids like glycolic acid, ideal for minor scars and minimal downtime.
  • Medium Peels: Employ stronger acids such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA), effective for more prominent scars.
  • Deep Peels: Use phenol to address severe scarring, though they require longer recovery periods.

Microdermabrasion and Dermabrasion

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion uses fine crystals to exfoliate the skin's outer layer. This gentle procedure smooths skin texture and diminishes minor scarring, offering a quick recovery time.

Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a more intensive technique that sands down the skin's surface. Effective for deeper scars, this procedure requires a longer healing period but can produce significant improvements in skin smoothness.

Microneedling
Microneedling involves using fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This process reduces scar depth and improves texture. When combined with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), the results can be even more pronounced, as PRP enhances healing and regeneration.

Laser Treatments
Laser treatments, such as fractional and ablative lasers, are highly effective for resurfacing the skin and reducing scar visibility. Fractional lasers target microscopic areas of the skin, promoting regeneration without extensive downtime. Ablative lasers, on the other hand, remove the top layer of skin, leading to more dramatic results but with a longer recovery time.

Surgical Options

Subcision
Subcision involves using a needle to break down the fibrous scar tissue beneath the skin. This procedure releases depressed scars, allowing the skin to appear smoother and more even.

Punch Techniques
  • Punch Excision: Removes individual scars, which are then closed with sutures or grafts.
  • Punch Elevation: Lifts the base of the scar to align it with the surrounding skin, reducing its visibility.

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers, such as hyaluronic acid and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), can be injected to raise depressed scars, offering immediate improvement. These fillers are often used in combination with other treatments to enhance overall results.

Preventive Measures and Daily Care

Skincare Routine
Maintaining a gentle skincare routine is crucial for preventing further damage. Regular cleansing and moisturising, along with consistent sunscreen use, protect the skin from UV damage and hyperpigmentation.

Lifestyle Changes
Adopting a healthy lifestyle can significantly impact skin health. A diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants, adequate hydration, and sufficient sleep all contribute to a clearer complexion. Avoiding the temptation to pick or squeeze acne can also prevent the formation of new scars.

Conclusion

Consulting with a dermatologist is essential to determine the most suitable treatment plan for your acne scars. Taking proactive steps towards both treatment and prevention can lead to significant improvements in skin appearance and self-esteem. With the right approach, smoother, more radiant skin is within reach.

5 Skincare Tips for the Transition into Summer

The transition into summer brings with it higher temperatures, increased humidity, and stronger UV rays, all of which can impact the health and appearance of our skin.
5 Skincare Tips for the Transition into Summer

To help you navigate this seasonal shift, we've compiled five essential skincare tips to keep your complexion radiant and healthy throughout the summer months.

Stay Hydrated Inside and Out
As the mercury rises, our bodies lose more moisture through perspiration, leaving our skin prone to dryness and dehydration.

To counteract this, it's essential to hydrate both internally and externally.

Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to maintain optimal hydration levels.

Additionally, incorporate a lightweight, oil-free moisturiser into your skincare routine to replenish lost moisture and keep your skin feeling soft.

Look for hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin, which help lock in moisture without clogging pores or feeling heavy on the skin.

Consider indulging in skin booster treatments like hyaluronic acid injections or vitamin-infused facials. Hyaluronic acid injections hydrate and plump the skin, reducing fine lines, while vitamin-infused facials nourish and protect with potent antioxidants.

These treatments provide targeted hydration and radiance, enhancing your skin's overall health and appearance with little maintenance.

Prioritise Sun Protection
With longer days and stronger sunshine, adequate sun protection becomes non-negotiable during the summer months. Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.

Apply sunscreen generously to all exposed areas of skin, including your face, neck, arms, and any other areas not covered by clothing. Remember to reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially if you're swimming or sweating profusely.

For added protection, consider wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to shield your face and eyes from direct sunlight.

Streamline Your Skincare Routine
The heat and humidity of summer can make heavy skincare products feel uncomfortable and exacerbate issues such as congestion and breakouts. To keep your skin feeling fresh and balanced, simplify your skincare routine by opting for lightweight formulations.

Swap out thick creams for gel-based moisturisers and serums that absorb quickly and won't weigh your skin down. Consider using a gentle foaming cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and sweat without stripping away natural oils.

By streamlining your skincare routine, you can maintain a healthy complexion without overwhelming your skin with unnecessary products.

Incorporate Regular Exfoliation
Exfoliation is key to maintaining smooth, radiant skin year-round, but it becomes especially important during the summer when sweat, sunscreen, and environmental pollutants can lead to clogged pores and dullness.

Incorporate a gentle exfoliant into your skincare routine two to three times a week to slough away dead skin cells and promote cell turnover.

Look for exfoliating products containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), which help unclog pores and refine the skin's texture without causing irritation. Regular exfoliation will leave your skin looking fresh, smooth, and rejuvenated.

Provide Post-Sun Exposure Care
Despite our best efforts, sun exposure can still take a toll on our skin, leading to redness, irritation, and dehydration.

After spending time outdoors, it's essential to provide your skin with soothing and hydrating care to help alleviate any discomfort and promote healing.

Additionally, use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser to hydrate and nourish the skin. If you experience sunburn, avoid further sun exposure and apply a cool compress to help reduce inflammation and discomfort.

As we embrace the warmth and sunshine of summer, it's important to adjust our skincare routines accordingly to protect and nourish our skin.

With these simple yet effective skincare tips, you can enjoy the season while maintaining a glowing complexion that's ready for whatever the summer has in store.

Effective Treatments to Rejuvenate Hollow Facial Features

When it comes to refreshing our looks, the game has seriously leveled up. We’re no longer limited to just creams and potions because now, it's all about getting down to the rejuvenation with some pretty snazzy treatments. There are three stars of the modern beauty world: Polydioxanone (PDO) threads, microneedling, and dermal fillers. These are not just buzzwords but solutions for anyone looking to wave goodbye to hollow facial features without signing up for major downtime.

PDO Threads: The Instant Lift
Can you imagine giving your skin a little pep talk, saying, "Hey, let's perk up a bit, shall we?" That's essentially what PDO threads do. Using suture-like threads, this minimally invasive technique lifts sagging skin, giving your face a more youthful silhouette. What makes PDO threads a crowd-pleaser is the minimal downtime involved. According to a 2019 study published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, patients reported significant satisfaction with the minimal invasiveness and downtime of the procedure. It's like getting the benefits of a facelift without the commitment to surgery and long recovery times.

Microneedling: The Collagen Booster
Next up, we've got microneedling, a technique that could easily be mistaken for a magic wand of youth. By making tiny pricks in the skin, this procedure wakes up collagen production - the holy grail of youthful, elastic skin. Beyond just pumping up the volume, it's about getting your skin back to its glory days. The beauty of microneedling is its knack for targeting aging signs and bringing back that bounce to your complexion. A study from Dermatologic Surgery in 2018 highlighted microneedling's effectiveness in skin rejuvenation, emphasizing its role in enhancing skin's elasticity and reducing fine lines.

Dermal Fillers: The Quick Fix
Dermal fillers are the beauty world's answer to instant gratification. Missing some volume? Fillers have got you covered. With a few strategic injections, fillers can smooth out wrinkles and plump up areas that time has made a bit more hollow. While they're not a permanent solution, they offer a quick fix, with results you can see right away. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, dermal fillers are increasingly popular, with procedures seeing a steady increase year over year. This spike in popularity underscores fillers' appeal as a straightforward, effective way to restore facial volume.

Cosmetic Surgery Consultations
Taking the leap into any cosmetic procedure is a big deal, and while it's tempting to just dive right in after seeing some amazing before-and-after photos online, it's crucial to hit the pause button and chat with a professional first. Here's the thing: every face, body, and skin type is unique, which means what worked wonders for one person might not be the best fit for you. Professionals have the training, experience, and the eye for detail to guide you toward the best options based on your individual needs, health, and the results you're aiming for. According to Dr. Joseph Berardi, a seasoned professional in the field, doctors will also give you the real talk on what to expect during recovery, potential risks, and how to care for yourself post-procedure. It’s not just about making sure you're physically prepared but about helping you get a clear picture and the peace of mind as you say yes to the procedure.

The key is to arm yourself with information, seek out skilled professionals, and remember that your beauty, no matter the route you choose to enhance it, is uniquely yours. In an age where the possibilities for aesthetic enhancement are broader and more accessible than ever, embracing the opportunity to look as vibrant as you feel is a choice many are gladly making.

Ipsum Skin - An introduction

Let me intoduce you to an incredible brand I was very lucky to be introduced to in 2023 - Ipsum. You might have seen me rave about them, for good reasons, over on my Instagram, but honesty, it is such a beautiful brand.
Ipsum Skin - An introduction
Created by Janet who has an incredible background and insight into beauty, Ipsum has been designed to offer luxurious, clean and pure skin care that will ensure you achieve your very best skin. Using only uses certified organic, pure and natural native plant oils, esters and waxes to protect the bio-diversity of the planet and to avoid introducing unnecessary chemicals into the skincare routine.

The brand has a catalogue of products for the face and body and depending on your want and need, everything is here.

The first product I tried was the award winning Ipsum Best Skin Cleansing Oil Balm, of course and it comes packaged in a squeezy recyclable tube.  I am a huge fan of cleansing balms, so you won't be surprised to learn this was the first product I chose to use.

This Cleansing Oil Balm, which is light and airy when used, is made with a delicate vegetable formulation to nourish your skin while lemon myrtle helps unclog and tighten pores. Then with the inclusion of Sandalwood, it helps heal and soothe the skin with its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties. What I like about this balm is how it manages to remove absolutely everything in its path and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth to the touch.

The light and uplifting fragrance of both the lemon myrtle and sandalwood are really refreshing and invigorating.

If you are a fan of facial oils, which I am, then Ipsum has some absolutely beautiful oils to choose from, three of them in fact - Nourishing, Intense Treatment and Enriching.
Ipsum Skin - An introduction
Starting with Ipsum Best Skin Nourishing Face Oil, the one I have taken to using most regularly, you get an oil which is made up of a nurturing and nourishing blend of 19 pure and organic plant oils, including Meadowfoam Seed, Raspberry Seed, Jobjoba and Carrot tissue with Australian grown and harvested oils including Macadamia Nut oil and Sandalwood. Together they offer a complex array of skin-boosting antioxidants and vitamins together with anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties to soothe, restore and help protect skin’s natural healthy glow.

Again, it is the fragrance from Lavender, Sandalwood and Rose helps Nourishing Face Oil reduce feelings of fatigue and stress as it gently calms your skin.

Next comes the Ipsum Best Skin Face Oil Intense Treatment and this oil is described as being a luxurious, supercharged concentrate of 23 pure, organic native plant oils, rich in omega fatty acids, vitamins C, E, B6,1,3,2 and polyphenol antioxidants, for a rejuvenating, hydrating and skin-protecting intensive treatment. With this oil you have the deeply- nourishing and restorative power of plant oils including Buriti, Marula, Frankincense and Tomato Fruit extract with Australian grown and harvested botanicals. Then the inclusion of Lilly Pilly, a rich source of vitamin C and fruit acids with a high antioxidant content helps stimulate collagen production and brighten skin tone, Rosalina for its nurturing, soothing and healing properties which helps stimulate the immune system and finally Fragonia which offers powerful antibacterial and antimicrobial benefits to skin and to the respiratory system and helps maintain the body’s own melatonin production which regulates the circadian rhythm.

This oil is for use at night time and it works as you sleep to not only relax and rejuvenate but to also keep the skin supple, hydrated and protected.

The final facial oil is the Ipsum Best Skin Enriching Face Oil and this one is a nutrient-rich and powerful blend of 24 pure and organic plant oils that infuse skin with vital vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to rejuvenate, reignite and then maintain skin’s natural radiance. The formulation is super-powered by naturally- derived CoQ10 – essential for collagen production and to help maintain elasticity.  This oil uses a formulation of some incredible botanical oils which includes Olive Fruit, Hempseed, Rosehip, Apricot, Seabuckthorn and Pomegranate as well as Australian grown and harvested ingredients including Kakadu Plum Seed oil - the richest source of skin-loving and skin-brightening vitamin C and Macadamia Nut oil which is renowned for its super-moisturising and regenerative properties.  Perfect for skin that is both oily and dry skin types because it regulates natural lipid production and returns skin to its perfect balance.

Each one of these facial oils is incredible and whether you are a regular user of oils or are curious about how they work with your skin, one or all of these you will just love.

Moving onto the Ipsum Best Skin Body Oil Patchouli Rose, it is hard to not love this oil, if only for its wonderful warm earthy fragrance.
Ipsum Skin - An introduction
Again, this oil uses uses a warming and calming blend of 19 pure and organic plant oils, richly- scented with Patchouli and Rose, each carefully formulated to smooth and massage easily all over the body. As soon as the body oil comes into contact with your skin, it absorbs instantly leaving your skin dry to touch without any form of oily residue being left on your skin and impressively, there is no sit to sit around and wait for it to sink into the skin, you can apply, massage and dress immediately. This oil is perfect to use both day and night depending on your preference and the inclusion of nurturing botanical blend such as Avocado, Grapeseed, Argan and Jojoba oils plus Australian grown and harvested Davidson Plum Fruit extract are rich in skin-boosting antioxidants as well as Macadamia Nut oil which works to deeply nourish as you massage in.

I love a good eye cream and there is always one within my routine, so I am delighted that Ipsum has their Best Skin Eye Oil Balm.
Ipsum Skin - An introduction
As this is a product for the skin around your eyes, it is really lightweight and melts on contact with the skin. As you might have guessed by now, this product also features a whole host of ingredients and they include a complex and concentrated blend of plant oils and esters, rich in potent polyphenols, antioxidants, peptides and skin-loving vitamins including A, C and E, to deeply nourish, smooth, de-stress, de-puff and brighten the delicate skin of the eye area. So we have Collagen-boosting, antioxidant-rich Bakuchiol which helps to refine and smooth skin texture, Australian Banksia which strengthens capillaries and reduces the appearance of dark circles and it  works with Cucumber extract which has been included to soothe and reduce puffiness. Squalane helps to calm, moisturise and rehydrate skin as Carrot Seed oil, Rosehip oil and Australian Macadamia Seed oil deeply nourish and fortify skin back to healthy radiance.

On the skin, this balm is really soothing and for anyone who finds eye creams can irritate their under-eye, this absolutely does not do that. For me, it leaves my eyes looking for wide-awake, refreshed and hydrated.

The final product I have to share is one of my favourites and that is the Ipsum Lip Oil Balm, another product I have shared on Instagram a few times.
Ipsum Skin - An introduction
Described as being luxuriously rich and conditioning blend of pure and organic native plant oils, esters and waxes to instantly soothe and smooth lips with long-lasting, intense nourishment. With a light scent of rose, this balm uses a unique blend of hydrating and moisturising plant oils including Tomato Fruit extract which has high levels of skin-nurturing vitamins, then we have antioxidant lycopene to protect skin, Pomegranate Seed oil to heal and regenerate skin and finally Australian grown and harvested Macadamia oil to deeply nourish, protect and repair. The overall aim being to leave the lips comforted, feeling soft and supple as well as looking smooth and hydrated.

As you can see, this balm is in a little pot, though it is also sold in a squeezy tube and I carry this pot in my bag so I have it with me and I also bought a second one to use on my lips at night.

So that is an introduction to Ipsum Skincare, a brand I cannot rave about enough and one I know we will see big things from over the next year or two!

An introduction to AIVA skincare

Meet Aiva Skincare, a brand that is said to bring you the effortlessly simple and minimalist beauty secrets of Finland, infused with love.  I was kindly sent 'The Duo' and Aiva Sun SPF20.
An introduction to AIVA skincare
Aiva and their skincare is all about ease and simplicity, they love their multi-use products that honour your skin's natural functions and take into account the fact we all know our own skin and its needs, so creating products that are designed to support your skin's natural barrier, they have everything you might need when it comes to moisturising, nourishing, and maintaining balance.

The first product within 'The Duo' is The Oil and with this, not only can you cleanse and moisturise, you can also use it for massages too.

Described as being a luxurious, supple multi use organic care oil, it is one which absorbs effortlessly to leave the skin feeling nourished with a soothing, protected layer.  It is non-greasy and leaves behind no residue and is packed full of amazing ingredients which includes:

Hero Ingredients

  • Organic cold-pressed Northern Bilberry Seed (Nordic Wild Blueberry) Oil - said to be one of the most powerful natural antioxidants. It contains vitamins and flavonoids which work to protect the skin from the damaging effects of environmental pollution, oxidation, and premature cell ageing. plus the omega fatty acids and phytotensins work to nourish, moisturise and soothe the skin, helping to relieve inflammation while keeping the skin supple, supporting the skin's collagen.
  • Organic Northern Sea Buckthorn Oil -  helps to protect the skin and promote its regeneration, thanks in part to the Provitamin A it contains.
  • Organic cold-pressed virgin Jojoba Oil - helps to moisturise without making skin oily. The composition of Jojoba Oil is similar to that of the skin’s sebum, which helps the skin stay balanced.
  • Organic cold-pressed Olive Oil  - contains several effective antioxidants such as Vitamin E, polyphenols and phytosterols. Moisturises and smoothes the skin. Vitamin E supports the skin as it matures.
  • Organic cold pressed Apricot Kernel Oil - a deeply nourishing, luxurious, lightweight, non-irritating and soothing oil that moisturise and smooth out dryness. Excellent omega fatty acid ratio that suits even acne-prone skin. It’s Vitamins A, E and C helps to clarify the skin’s tone and complexion, promoting a natural glow.
As well as The Oil being used to cleanse, moisturise, nourish and protect you can also mix it with The Cream to make both face and body masks too.  What I love about this oil is that it doesn't feel like an oil on the skin, it reminds me of a serum as it absorbs into the skin and it leaves no trace behind that it was on your skin, but notably after using there is an instant softness to the touch.

The second product within 'The Duo' is The Cream and it is described as being a protective, nourishing and balancing antioxidant cream that leaves your skin feeling well, good and hydrated.

As with the oil, this is a multi-functional use cream and it not only is it perfect for being used under makeup but because it is so lightweight and absorbs really quickly, it can be mixed with the oil to act as a face mask or body lotion and it is suitable for those with even the most sensitive of skin.  Again, as with the oil, this cream is infused with a whole host of hero ingredients which includes:

Hero Ingredients
  • Organic Northern Sea Buckthorn Extract  - this helps to protect the skin and promote its regeneration, thanks in part to the Provitamin A it contains.
  • Organic cold-pressed virgin Jojoba Oil  - this helps to moisturise without making skin oily. The composition of Jojoba Oil is similar to that of the skin’s sebum, which helps the skin stay balanced.
  • Organic antioxidant Black Tea  - this helps protect and soothe the skin, reducing impurities and inflammation. The polyphenols contained in tea are effective antioxidants that help prevent the damage caused by environmental pollution including UV light. Its caffeine content revives the skin and acts as natural astringent.
  • Vanillin - used for its pleasant aroma which helps keep the composition aromatically soothing.
The cream is a delight to use, either on its own or mixed with the oil, the latter being my favourite way to use it.  On the skin, the cream is one of the lightest I have used in a very long time.

The Oil and The Cream are available together as a set, The Duo, for £59.

The final product I have to share is The Sun SPF 20, which also comes as an SPF, if you prefer. Described as being a high-quality discreet sunscreen for face and body and it delivers  100% natural physical, reflective protection, no chemical preservatives or nanoparticles.

The unique Borealis Beauty Sun Blend composition is a mixture of natural and organic ingredients alongside mineral filters, which are scientifically proven to protect against both UVA and UVB rays. The sea buckthorn extract, vitamins C and E contained in the cream help to keep the skin in good condition when exposed to sunlight and prevent the skin from drying out.  It is very lightly perfumed (vanilla extract) but will not cause photo-sensitivity and is extremely safe and suitable for use on sensitive skins and impressively safe for use from the age of 3.

What I am enjoying about using this SPF is aside from not leaving a white cast on the skin, it absorbs really easily and does work quite well as a base product for makeup!

AIVA Skincare is such a lovely brand to get to know and I am already looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Retinal ReSculpt™ Overnight Treatment - Murad

Retinoids is an ingredient that many of us are familiar with and it is one which has become a really popular skincare ingredient especially in serums and eye creams. It is said the benefits of retinoids include improving the appearance of pigmentation, increasing skin cell turnover as well as helping with the skin’s overall texture - all of which we look for when purchasing products. From Murad, the Retinal ReSculpt™ Overnight Treatment claims to help smooth wrinkles and improve elasticity and I could not wait to try it.
Retinal ReSculpt™ Overnight Treatment - Murad
I am already a fan of the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Range, so I really could't wait to try this product, which has rave reviews everywhere.  Retinal, a form of retinoid that's considered to be more potent than traditional retinol, works to enhance skin's firmness, texture, and overall radiance. Packaged inside a green glass bottle with a silver pump applicator, this is a product that you use as part of your night time routine, after cleansing.  On the skin, the serum has a really lovely, soft silky smooth feel to it and it absorbs really quickly when applied.

There is so tingling or stinging when it is applied and there is no oily residue left on the skin, that said, if you are thinking about trying a product like this for the first time, it is always wise to patch test and gradually build up your usage.
Retinal ReSculpt™ Overnight Treatment - Murad
Retinal ReSculpt™ Overnight Treatment - Murad
As always with Murad products, there is an impressive list of key ingredients alongside the retinal which includes blemish-balancing oat lipids, moisture promoting alpha glucan and calming olive leaf extract, which also work to counter dryness and irritation.

Now this is an expensive product priced at £105 but my gosh it is so so good and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and hydrated with no drying, itching or tingling. The results speak for themselves and whilst I don't have deep set wrinkles, I am keen to keep them at bay for what is as long as possible.

L'Occitane Almond and Flowers Collection

The L'Occitane Almond Collection is the best ever collection and anyone who reads my blog will know tht I adore it.  In recent weeks there have been a few new launches to L'Occitane which I have shared and am sharing. The Shea Sparking Leaves Collection, I have raved about in this post and today is another new launch and it is the L'Occitane Almond and Flowers Collection.
L'Occitane Almond and Flowers Collection
Described as being a mouth-watering fragrance where the subtle scent of almond is intertwined with olive blossom and citrus scents, the L'Occitane Almond and Flowers Collection is simply beautiful. Made up of a Shower Oil, Bath Cube, Hand Cream and Milk Concentrate the packaging is as stunning as the products themselves.

Starting with the Almond and Flowers Shower Oil (£19.50), which as you can expect is designed to help hydrate and nourish the skin all day long. As with its sister oil, when this shower oil comes into contact with water, it transforms from an oil into a sheer milky lotion to gently cleanse the body. Enriched in almond and olive oil,not only does it help to keep skin moisturised it also leaves behind the most subtle floral scent, where the notes of almond intertwine with the fresh notes of olive blossom and citruses such as Neroli.

The second product is the Almond and Flowers Milk Concentrate (£44) and one body care product I am guaranteed to use is a L'Occitane body product, they're somewhat addictive and I make my way through a lot of refills.

This Milk Concentrate has a luxuriously rich texture and is just a delight to use. Again it is enriched in the same softening and moisturising almond and olive oil. Its job is to deliver long-lasting hydration to the skin as well as to improve suppleness, and smooth the skin. On conact with the skin, it absorbs quickly and leaves behind a slightly stronger scent that the Shower Oil gives, and again it is that comforting notes of almond alongside those fresh notes of olive blossom and citruses.

Then finally I have the Almond and Flowers Delicious Hands (£9) and it is described as being a light hand cream that has a delicately perfumed floral gourmand scent.

No L'Occitane collection is complete without a hand cream and this one is beautiful to use. It is described as being a hand cream which embellishes the skin and softens the cuticles, whilst at the same time enveloping them with a floral gourmand scent. Again, those same fragrance notes which are present in the Milk Concentrate and the Shower Oil are present in the hand cream, so you get the notes of almond intertwined with the fresh notes of olive blossom and citruses.  On the hands, the silky smooth texture is fast absorbing and non-greasy or tacky, it leaves behind a wonderful lingering scent on the skin.

This collection is on sale now with L'Occitane and it is, as you would expect to find Vegan-friendly and made as sustainably as possible.

Emma Hardie Vitamin C Radiance Gel Moisturiser
The Vitamin C Radiance Gel Moisturiser has been formulated to brighten, boost glow and even skin tone, whilst at the same time, hydrating and protecting the skin. Packaged in a stunning gold jar, it is a product that really stands out.

Luxurious with its texture, this cream has a wonderful gel-like consistency that isn't sticky or tacky and as you massage it into your skin and as you might expect, it is formulated with a host of amazing ingredients which includes - niacinamide, red algae and PhytoSpherix™ to enhance the skin’s natural barrier and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Grapeseed and Sea Buckthorn oils to nourish the skin, giving it that radiant and more youthful complexion and what it aims to do is:
  • Help reduce pigmentation and dark spots
  • Even out skin tone
  • Boost radiance and glow
  • Hydrate and protect
Plus and for me, the most interesting ingredient is the Collagen Stimulating Factor MAP and it is described as being an encapsulated stable Vitamin C which stimulates collagen production and cell regeneration to improve elasticity. This ingredient is also known as a skin lightening agent and is great for anti-ageing, reduces wrinkles and helps mature skin.
Emma Hardie Vitamin C Radiance Gel Moisturiser
This Vitamin C Radiance Gel Moisturiser does come with its own spatula, so no need to be sticking your fingers directly into the pot and the use of the spatula means you get enough product, as advised to massage into your skin.

Designed to be used both morning and evening as part of your skincare routine, Emma Hardie advises that for the best results, it should be used alongside the Vit C Serum for intensified results, but always applying the serum first because it is lighter.

Priced at £53, you can find the Emma Hardie Vitamin C Radiance Gel Moisturiser on sale now.

Temple Spa Easy Glowing Vitamin C Facial Cleanser

The latest launch from Temple Spa is their Easy Glowing Vitamin C Facial Cleanser (£28) and it is designed to instantly brighten up your cleansing regime.
Temple Spa Easy Glowing Vitamin C Facial Cleanser
I have long been a huge fan of the Temple Spa In The Beginning Cleanser which is just magnificent and this product is right up there with one of the best products I have used from them.

A melting silky-gel cleanser, when applied to the skin, it transforms from a gel to an oil as you massage and then finally into a beautiful hydrating milk which works to effectively remove makeup, daily grime and all without stripping the skin to leave it feeling taut and dry.

As always from Temple Spa, this cleanser is packed full of ingredients that look after your skin.  So using a host of antioxidant, nutrient-rich oils and vitamins A, C and E which balance the skin, plus natural prebiotic sugars from dragon fruit really makes this cleanser a radiance-boosting daily must-have. Alongside that is the inclusion of the botanical extracts of
  • blood orange - For its mild, natural exfoliating properties from the citric and malic acid to help the skin to glow,
  • mango - rich in vitamins A and C as well as magnesium and potassium, it helps to smooth and revitalise the skin,
  • tomato - rich in beta carotene and vitamin C, it helps to control excess sebum
  • broccoli - rich in minerals and vitamins, the antioxidants help to fight off free-radicals.
As well as a healthy dose of astaxanthin, an algae derived, bright red pigment which has a rich source of carotenoids and antioxidants. for the skin, astaxanthin benefits include protecting the skin from free radicals, hyperpigmentation and increasing skin elasticity. Then we have the inclusion of Seabuckthorn Oil which helps to maintain a healthy skin barrier and regulate natural oil levels.

what I really love, aside from the texture of this cleanser is that there is a wonderful aroma of sweet orange oil which really helps to boost and uplift your mood, a perfect morning cleanser to get you ready for the day.

Murad Targeted Correctors

When it comes to Murad skincare products, there is something quite special about them, ticking the boxes they promise and one of my all time favourite products is the Murad Vita C Triple Exfoliating Facial.  New to my stash is the Murad Targeted Correctors, all three of them described as being instant fixes for those troublesome skin concerns.
Murad Targeted Correctors
Following the successful launch of the Murad Targeted Wrinkle Corrector, which I've shared below, it has now been partnered with two further correctors to complete the trio - the Targeted Eye Depuffer and the Targeted Pore Corrected.

Starting with the Targeted Eye Depuffer (£64/15ml) it is described as being an eye-awakening, microcurrent-inspired treatment visibly depuffs and firms with every use—and tightens over time for lasting results.
Murad Targeted Correctors
Murad Targeted Correctors
This multi-action eye treatment works to both instantly brighten and cool and when used over time, it also visibly tightens, tones and depuffs for lasting results.  As it is a treatment for the eyes, it comes packaged in an elongated tube with a metal applicator and that alone is soothing without the inclusion of the amazing list of ingredients:
  • Microcurrent-inspired Amino Acid Peptide - visibly tones, lifts and brightens under-eyes and lids
  • Ginseng, Lily and Caffeine - come together to visibly reduce the intensity of under-eye bags
  • Light-Reflecting Complex - Instantly brightens and illuminates under-eyes and lids
To use, you simply squeeze out a really small bit of the cream and then using the metal applicator, gently massage it into the skin around the eyes, it takes no longer than 5-10 seconds to complete and as someone who seems to have these dark circles, this is quite the miracle worker, it instantly brightens and those small shimmery particles which are part of the Light-Reflecting Complex work their magic but the clue is in what Murad says - you need to use it over time for long-lasting results, it isn't an instant fix, but I already love it.

The second product is the Targeted Pore Corrector (£49/15ml) and this is described as being a bio-tech treatment that virtually erases the look of pores with every use—and decreases pore count over time.
Murad Targeted Correctors
Murad Targeted Correctors
We all know that you cannot shrink the size of your pores, despite claims from numerous brands that you can, they're genetic, it is part of who you are... however, what you can do is target the causes and issues that make them appear bigger and this is where this Targeted Pore Corrector comes in.

With its specially designed applicator, the use of a potent bio-tech copper amino acid blend targets the loss of pore elasticity, something Murad state is a root cause of oversized pores, so pores look smoother and smaller the more you use it.  Again, this isn't a magic fix, it is a product you need to use consistantly to get the results promised and as with the Targeted Eye-Depuffer, it comes with a host of magical ingredients:
  • Copper amino acid biotechnology -  delivers a multi-targeted approach to reduce the appearance of pores . This blend has a Patent-pending!
  • Soybean extract - Smooths skin and reduces the appearance of dilated pores,
  • Ginger extract - Potent antioxidant helps balance skin to reduce shine over time,
  • Soft Focus Complex - Delivers unbeatable blurring benefits to make large, dilated pores practically undetectable.
As well as helping to decongest the skin, this corrector also mattifies, so for someone like me who has combination-oily skin, it is really worth its use for that alone. Again the advice when using this is to very gently squeeze out the tiniest amount of Targeted Pore Corrector and then tap directly onto enlarged pores gently with applicator tip, the important part being to gently tap and then once you are finished dab excess cream into skin using your fingertips and leave it to dry completely to see results.  I am quite intrigued to see how this one works, I don't have overly large pores, but I do notice a few of the ones I do have and that is where my concentration with this is.

Then finally where it all began with the Targeted Wrinkle Corrector (£76/15ml) and it is described as being a powerful peptide-meets-hyaluronic treatment virtually erases the look of wrinkles by visibly smoothing and reducing wrinkle intensity instantly, just the tonic for those times when you can’t make it to the derm for a filler.
Murad Targeted Correctors

This corrector can be used for a whole host of lines and wrinkles that bother you which includes:
  • Elevens/between the brows (glabella lines)
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet/orbital bone
  • Sides of mouth
  • Top of mouth
Again, it comes packaged in a squeezy tube and features a metal applicator, which when it comes into contact with the skin is instantly soothing and is packed full of amazing ingredients which includes:
  • Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 - helps to boost elasticity and to prevent the formation of future wrinkles which are typical with repeated facial expressions
  • Bioavailable Hyaluronic Acid - Intensely hydrates to plump and smooth the skin as well as to reduce wrinkle intensity
  • Plant-Derived Squalene - Prevents moisture loss to help the skin resist future wrinkles
Again the advice when using this is to very gently squeeze out the tiniest amount of Targeted Wrinkle and then tap directly onto the areas you want to target, but gently with applicator tip, the important part being to gently tap and then once you are finished dab excess cream into skin using your fingertips and leave it to dry.

All of these Targeted Correctors from Murad are not designed to give you an instant fix, they are very clear on this, you need to use them consistently to get the results you need and want to see.
