Tattoo Removal: How To Get Rid Of Permanent Make-up

One of the many pleasures of beauty and make-up products is the fun we can have trying out different looks. Yet with the recent popularity of permanent make-up, many people are finding out that some of those experiments are not so easy to change.

This is fine if you're delighted with your results and you don't ever want a different aesthetic. But what if you've dabbled with tattooed lip liner or eyebrows, for example, and you're wishing you could reverse or change it?

Tattoo Removal Tech To The Rescue

There's good news for anyone who is no longer enamoured with their permanent makeup. Developments in the tattoo removal industry mean that it's now easier than ever to have permanent ink erased from the skin.

The latest technology and techniques in the industry have risen to meet the increased demand for permanent make-up removal. So, now it can be quick, painless and affordable to have any unwanted facial ink procedures removed or reversed.

If this might be the solution you've been looking for, here are some answers to common questions about permanent make-up and what's possible with the latest tattoo removal technology.

Permanent Make-up Removal FAQS

Can laser treatments remove permanent makeup?

Yes, the latest tattoo removal lasers are suitable for removing permanent make-up. They are also highly effective and capable of truly impressive results. Innovations in laser technology mean that the new equipment is gentle enough to be used on sensitive areas, such as facial skin. This means they are a perfect solution for any unwanted eyebrow tattoos, hairline enhancements, or permanent lip liners etc. The new lasers are safe to use on the face and are much kinder to the skin than the old types of tattoo removal lasers.

What types of permanent makeup can be removed?

Some of the most popular permanent make-up choices that are being reversed using laser tattoo removal technology include;

• Permanent Eyebrow enhancements, such as eyebrow tattoos, microblading, eyebrow microshading and ombre eyebrows, also called powder brows.

• Permanent Lip Makeup, such as lip blushing tints, lip tattoos and permanent lip liner.

• Face and scalp procedures such as hairline microblading, scalp micropigmentation and freckle tattoos.

These are some of the most common requirements but if you have any permanent make-up not listed here, there's still a good chance that the top clinics will be able to reverse the procedure and remove the pigmentation. If the work is tattoo-based, it's likely that tattoo removal experts will be able to help you revert back to your natural look.

How soon can permanent make-up be removed?

The experts at NAAMA tattoo removal clinic - one of the leaders in the industry - share this advice about timescales for removal procedures; “You can come to NAAMA for permanent makeup removal as early as six weeks after it’s done.” This is great news if you're keen to make changes as quickly as possible, though they do advise that it's essential your skin is fully healed before beginning tattoo removal treatments. The best way to find out what's possible for you is to book a free consultation where an experienced professional will be able to give you the right advice for your requirements.

How long does permanent make-up removal take?

The timescales involved in more general tattoo removal have improved dramatically in recent years, and this applies to reversing permanent make-up procedures. The use of modern lasers that are kinder to skin, especially in sensitive areas such as the face, means that less recovery time is required. As a result, sessions can be carried out much more frequently, because the skin hasn't needed as long to heal fully. This means that the entire treatment schedule can be completed much more quickly, and you can get back the more natural look that you prefer within a period of just a few months.

Who are the best permanent make-up removal clinics?

Thankfully there are an increasing number of excellent clinics offering rapid, effective and painless permanent makeup removal treatments. Many of these also offer flexible payment plans to make this solution even more accessible to a wide range of people.

The best way to find the top provider near you is to do an online search and then check out the feedback and testimonials on an independent review site. There will usually be an array of Before & After photos that will also help you to see the kind of results you can expect. Then all you need to do is book a free consultation, and look forward to making those unwanted make-up choices less permanent.

The Body Shop Peppermint Collection

One range I absolutely love from The Body Shop is the Ginger Hair Care Collection and it is never not a staple in our bathroom, from the shampoo and conditioner to the scalp oil, it is brilliant.  However, the latest launch of the Peppermint Collection caught my eye and I quickly ordered a few of the products from the range when replenishing my Ginger hair care collection.
The Body Shop Peppermint Collection
Peppermint oil can calm and soothe skin because of menthol's cooling effect, it can also be great for use when you have a cold, relieve stress and headaches alongside a whole host if other benefits.

I picked up the Peppermint Shower Gel, Body Gel and Foot Scrub to try, other products within this range include a foot cream and a foot & leg mist. As you can see, with its bright blue packaging, the one word which stands out is 'invigorating' in this case taken to mean new or renewed strength or energy.

The Peppermint Invigorating Shower Gel (£8/250ml) and when used in the shower it is designed to make you feel instantly cool.

Enriched with peppermint essential oil, the cool feeling when cleansing your body makes it ideal for those days when you are hot, post-workout or just need that calming coolness of the peppermint oil.  When used, the gel very quickly transforms into a really good lather of foam bubbles that wash away, leaving hot skin soothed and refreshed with moisture.

The second product is the Peppermint Reviving Pumice Foot Scrub (£10/100ml) and again, it is designed to revive feet and leave them feeling cool and refreshed.

As with the shower gel, this foot scrub is also enriched with peppermint essential oil and along side it is pumice and together they work to buffs away all of that dead, dry and hard skin and as it does so, refreshes and cools the feet. You can also use this scrub on other dry patches of skin, I have used it on my legs and it does a great job without being too abrasive by scratching the skins surface.

Then finally comes the Peppermint Invigorating Body Gel (£14/200ml) and ooh it is just fabulous to use on the skin and is once again enriched with peppermint oil.

With its utra-light, gel texture which is fast absorbing and leaves skin feeling moisturised for up to 48 hours, the refreshing peppermint formula has a -2°C cooling effect, so it really is the perfect way to cool down hot skin, any time and it does so without feeling uncomfortable.

Three amazing products from a really refreshing and beautiful range of products that I am so glad I picked up and if you are tempted, I've got an offer for you!  Use my code AFFQUEEN gives you 20% off (excludes gifts, advent calendar and already discounted items).

Simba Hybrid® Topper

When you think about how much time we spend in bed, it is so important to make sure you are comfortable - do I have the right mattress and pillow, all of which should help you get a good night's sleep, not to mention that the temperature has to be right as well. I am obsessed with my Simba pillow, the difference it has made to sleep has been amazing, but more recently I have been lucky enough to receive the Simba Hybrid® Topper.
Simba Hybrid® Topper.
Laying in bed, be it for sleep, reading, relaxing or whatever reason you choose, should be comfortable and struggling to find that comfortable position, waking up with back pain or even discovering lumps and bumps in your mattress is a sign that you need a new one. The Simba Hybrid® Topper has been amazing and having now slept on it for a month, it is a great investment!
Transform any mattress in any instant with our comfort-boosting mattress topper. Unlike a more traditional memory foam mattress topper, our innovative design combines up to 2,500 Aerocoil® springs and a layer or open-cell Simbatex® foam to keep you cooler and more cushioned. Includes removable, washable cover.
So, the Simba Hybrid® Topper is designed to fit any mattress and comes in a variety of sizes to meet your needs. Made using the up to 2500 Aerocoil® springs and a layer or open-cell Simbatex®. Explained simply the Simbatex® foam is ‘open cell’, which means it has a less dense structure than traditional memory foam, allowing more airflow; the Simba sleep engineers have also infused it with graphite, a natural mineral which draws heat away from the body.
Simba Hybrid® Topper
As someone who doesn't like to be hot when they sleep, but won't leave my legs dangling out of the bed incase someone grabs my foot, this has been the biggest difference for me, being cool and still covered in a duvet is just the dream combination, I am warm but not too hot.

Unlike other mattress toppers I have tried, and there has been a few, this one has an added an anti-slip base and with ir four snug-fit, corner straps which not only helps to keep your topper firmly in place, it also means it doesn't move across the bed as you turn over, get in and out of bed or sit up, once it is in place, it is there until you move it.

When the Topper arrives, the box is huge and inside it is vac packed, so once you have extracted it from the box, which is great fun if you have cats, the advice is to unravel it and let it slowly inflate, which does do within a matter of hours, at this point you can manoeuvre it into place.
Simba Hybrid® Topper
I have the king size version and it is the perfect size for my bed, what surprised me is how easy it is to fit into place, unlike my mattress, it doesn't need two people to put it into place, I managed it on my own, secured the straps and once the cats had bounced about it on, made the bed, excited to test it out.  It took a few days to get used too, gone was the lumpy rut and in its place was a soft, comfortable hug, the best way to describe it, and for the first time for as long as I can remember, I slept for a good few hours and didn't wake up feeling as though I had been trapped in a vice.

The Simba Hybrid® Topper prices start at £219 for a single, rising up to £399 for a super king size and it is worth every single penny!
