Stay Beautiful: Everything You Need To Know About FRP Contact Lenses

While Leonardo da Vinci is believed to have introduced the idea of contact lenses, the first contact lenses similar to modern ones were introduced in 1948. These were created by Californian optician Kevin Tuohy. Over the next few years, the lenses were refined and started to become popular in the 1950s and 1960s.

Stay Beautiful: Everything You Need To Know About FRP Contact Lenses

It’s not surprising that they have remained popular. Many people feel more attractive without glasses and they are certainly more convenient if you lead an active lifestyle.

What Are FRP Lenses

FRP stands for Frequent Replacement lenses. This refers to lenses which are worn for a specific amount of time, and then discarded. Most lenses can be classed as disposable.

However, gas-permeable lenses, often referred to as hard lenses, can be used for months or even years without issue. That’s provided the hygiene schedule is maintained.

In contrast, soft lenses are made of soft flexible plastic and are better at allowing oxygen through to the cornea. They are generally more comfortable than hard lenses. However, they are generally intended to be worn daily. Some need to be replaced monthly, others fortnightly, and some daily.

Current studies suggest soft lenses are more popular and there is a move by many wearers to go from monthly or fortnightly disposable lenses to daily. It’s not entirely clear what is driving this transition.

Where To Purchase FRP Lenses

Whether you’re looking for FRP contact lenses or hard lenses, you’ll first need a prescription. That means having an eye test to confirm what strength the lenses need to be. It’s normal to have different strengths for each eye.

You can then purchase contact lenses from your optician. However, you’ll generally find that you can get them online cheaper, and you’ll have a bigger range of options. Delivery is fast and the level of support you get is comparable, if not better than at your local opticians.

However, whether ordering online or in a store, it’s generally best to go with the brand your optician recommends. This makes the ordering process simple.

Advantages Of FRP Lenses

FRP lenses are convenient. This is especially true if you use daily disposables. All you have to do is put the lenses in your eye with clean hands in the morning. At the end of the day, remove it and throw it away.

This approach dramatically reduces the likelihood of an eye infection.

The weekly, fortnightly, or monthly options need to be removed and placed in a cleaning solution every night. Provided the cleaning schedule is adhered to you are unlikely to have any issues.

Alongside being convenient, many people feel less self-conscious when wearing lenses compared to glasses. This means using FRP lenses can boost self-confidence and allow you to achieve your goals.

Summing Up

FRP contact lenses are a great option for many people. They can be worn for the entire day and discarded or stored, depending on the type you have.

While you should always have a pair of glasses in reserve, choosing to wear contact lenses is likely to be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.

AEOS Starter Kit - Blue

Meet AEOS, a British organic and sustainable skincare brand who has a collection of 18 skincare and body care products. AEOS has been created by a team of experts in ancient alchemy and skincare specialists to produce forward-thinking formulas that are set to shake up the organic skincare market. I was kindly sent a selection of products to try, starting with this Starter Kit.
aoes Starter Kit - Blue
The starter kits are available in either pink or blue shades and each one has a different power. The Pink supports the heart chakra, encouraging kindness, caring and love towards yourself. Then the one which I chose, Starter Kit Blue supports peace and serenity, helping you to slow down, breathe deep and soothe away stress from your skin and mind.

The blue starter kit is packaged inside a cardboard box with sleeve and there is a selection of 8 products.

Starter Kit Contains:

  • Cleansing Oil dé-Maq 3ml
  • Dew Facial Wash 3ml
  • Gentle Cleansing Lotion Blue 3ml
  • Gentle Exfoliant Blue 3ml
  • Energising Conditioner 3ml
  • Refreshing Hydrating Mist 3ml
  • Realive Serum 3ml
  • Enriching Moisturiser Blue 3ml
Each kit (£9.50) gives you enough product for 4 - 5 days of use, each morning and evening and it is a really great way to get to know the brand and decide what does and does not work for you.

AEOS Starter Kit - Blue
Each one of these kits from AEOS gives you a routine to follow when using the products and I think to get the best out of them, it is worth following that routine.

Starting with the AM routine

Renew: To begin, cleanse with Gentle Cleansing Lotion on damp skin and then once a week, follow with Gentle Exfoliant.

Light and non-greasy, the Gentle Cleansing Lotion uses an advanced botanical blend of organic and biodynamic essential oils, plant extracts and crystal essences which are said to come ‘alive’ when activated with water.  What I love about this cleansing lotion is just how lightweight it is and it really does leave your skin feeling clean and moisturised.

The Gentle Exfoliant uses a rich blend of skin-nurturing organic oils such as jojoba, grape seed, argan and avocado alongside the brands own biodynamic spelt oil which has antioxidant, moisturising and regenerative properties. On the skin, this is one of the best products I have used, it does an incredible job at exfoliating the skin without being too abrasive and it smells incredible.

Rebalance: Apply Energising Conditioner followed by Refreshing Hydrating Mist.  The Energy Conditioner is designed to be smoothing, calming and hydrating. Alongside the biodynamic plant extracts is warming White Birch which encourages optimal absorption into the deeper layers of the skin.  For me, this conditioner is like an Essence and my skin lapped it up.

Following on with the Refreshing Hydration Mist, which again I am a huge fan of, it gives a lovely hit of hydration without soaking the skin and it also has a wonderful uplifting scent.

Replenish: The final part of the AM routine is to apply the Realive Serum followed by Enriching Moisturiser Blue.  The Realive Serum uses an intensive fusion of nature’s most potent organic and biodynamic plant extracts and crystal essences alongside naturally-derived hyaluronic acid to encourage the smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles.  Again, this serum is lightweight and has a perfect serum texture, on the watery side rather than the thicker and it absorbs on contact.

Followed with the Enriching Moisturiser Blue, ideal to soften, smooth and condition skin, it uses an award-winning blend of organic and biodynamic plant extracts and crystal essences. Again, alongside the brand's own-grown biodynamic spelt oil works with jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, argan oil and rose hydrosol – for superior synchronistic moisturisation.  On the skin, it is light and not tacky or sticky and absorbs with ease and again, the scent of Lemon Scented Tea Tree Oil sticks out to me.

Then for the evening routine, it is again to renew, rebalance and replenish with similar steps to complete.

The Evening Routine

Renew: To begin, cleanse with Cleansing Oil dé-Maq followed by Dew Facial Wash on damp skin.  Starting with the Cleansing Oil dé-Maq, this oil based cleanser is just a delight to use and ingredients such as Grape Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sesame Seed Oil are used alongside a blend of premium-grade organic and biodynamic oils and plant extracts to cleanse the skin and remove every last trace of make-up and impurities. Used with a cotton wool pad, you need just a few drops to cleanse the skin.

The Dew Facial Wash is your second cleanse and it works to remove anything the oil leaves behind. Using a combination of neroli, spelt and lemon oils combined with crystal and gem tinctures, helps relax skin for easy absorption of skin-loving plant extracts. To use, the advice is to add a few drops of the Dew Facial Wash to a sink of warm water and then soak a Muslin Cloth in the botanical infused water for a few minutes and then squeeze out excess water and place over the face and leave for a few seconds, then repeat the process. By doing this it opens up your pores and gently prepares the skin to get the maximum benefit from the products to follow.

Rebalance: Then apply Energising Conditioner followed by Refreshing Hydrating Mist using the same steps ive detailed above and then to finish is to Replenish and to do this, apply Realive Serum followed by Enriching Moisturiser.

AEOS grow and harvest as much as they can on their 500 acre Demeter-certified biodynamic farm for use in all of the products mentioned as well as sourcing all other ingredients from exceptional organic and biodynamic farms across the world.

This is one stunning brand and I love that the use of crystals runs throughout each product., more of which can be read here, but I love that they are used to help deliver therapeutic effects for body, mind and soul alike.
