L'Occitane 40th Anniversary Limited Editions

L'Occitane* is a brand which continues to excite me, the products, though luxury are priced so competitively it is hard not to want them all. It is also L'Occitane which reignited by love for all things Lavender and opened my eyes to many products that I can now not be without. It has now been 40 years since Olivier Baussan began distilling Rosemary essential oil to sell to local markets and since 1976 Oliviers passion for nature continues to strengthen and with over 3000 stores open worldwide, L'Occitane has an amazing history of Provencal beauty.

So,to celebrate its 40th anniversary and the generous natural heritage of Provence, L'OCCITANE has created a limited edition with a unique spirit. Its design, featuring striking green, diagonal lines, evokes fields of verbena seen from the sky before harvest time.
L'Occitane 40th Anniversary Limited Editions

You can grasp the scent of Lavender before you even open these soaps and gosh they are divine.
L'Occitane 40th Anniversary Limited Editions

Verbena Moisturising Body Mousse £18
If you need a product to kick you awake in a morning, then this body moousse is just that product.  It is enriched with an extract of organic verbena from Provence and refreshing active ingredients, this moisturising body mousse, with its light-as-air texture, gives an intense feeling of freshness while leaving skin delicately scented with the fresh and sparkling notes of verbena.

It leaves your skin not only feeling hydrated and moisturised, but the fresh scent is just absolutely lovely not to mention long lasting. Perfect for all skin types too.

L'Occitane 40th Anniversary Limited Editions

Lavender Foaming Bath £20.
If you have trouble sleeping, then this is a product you need in your life.  I absolutely love the Lavender foaming bath, it is just divine.  Formulated with a vegetal cleansing base, the Lavender Foaming Bath leaves the skin clean and supple. The A.O.C. lavender essential oil from Haute-Provence has both calming and soothing properties and there is a subtly about the scent in so much as it isn't over the top and won't make you smell like your Grandma, but if you have ever smelt fresh Lavender, then this is what perfumes your bath water to soothe and relax you.

The final product is Verbena Eau de Toilette (£42) which is described as being 'A bright and dazzling' Eau de toilette with verbena from Provence to awaken the body and mind.
L'Occitane 40th Anniversary Limited Editions
With this EDT there is something quite special about it.  There is  a beautifully fresh lemony scent which is immediately noticeable and then the earthy freshness of the freshly picked green leaves of Verbena, rosy base of geranium and lemon tree add a little kick.  This is a scent which is perfect for a hot summers day, it is long lasting, smells just incredible and I absolutely love it.

So here is an amazing line up of products which come together to make an amazing 40th anniversary limited edition list.

L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Care

Anyone who reads my blog will know what a huge fan I am of L’Occitane and when the latest launch L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Perfecting Collection dropped through my door, I was pretty excited to give it a try, especially as it has amazing pink packaging! The range itself consists of eight different products and the main focus is on the star patented ingredient - peony extract. The new Paeonia Lactiflora, to use the official name, is an extract which is not only rich in natural plant sugars which target cells to correct irregularities in the skin’s texture it works to reveal a fresher and more radiant, natural complexion.

I have three products from the new L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Perfecting Collection which I’ve been using and they are the L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Makeup Remover, the L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Perfecting 2 in 1 Scrub and the L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Toner.  All of which come together to create a lovely little skincare routine.

The Perfecting Make-up Remover is always the bottle I reach for first after coming home from work. Described as being a refreshing gel which effectively removes impurities and make-up, including waterproof make-up, from the face, eyes and lips. It is enhanced with active ingredients that help to transform the quality of the skins surface, it gently cleanses, leaving the complexion fresher and more luminous. First things first, can we high five L'Occitane for making a bottle which has a pump! I am a lazy product user, I want them to be easy and require little effort, essentially pump action and this does make for easy use because I don't have to unscrew a lid and so and so forth. That said, I find two pumps onto a clean cotton wool pad/muslin cloth more than enough to remove the daily gunk from my face and this has currently replaced my make-up remover because I actually feel it does a much better job. Priced at £19 for 200ml it is an absolute bargain.

L’Occitane-Pivoine-Sublime-Skin-Care

The second product is a 2in1 perfecting scrub which is a little bit different to what I had expected. Again it does contain peony extract, delicate micro-granules, and micro-exfoliant active ingredients and it is described as an innovative gel which not only has a unique texture but has a dual usage. So on the skin it transforms into an oil to cleanse and exfoliate, so technically it is an exfoliating oil (how clever). For those of you who like a product which isn't too abrasive, then this is one to look out for because it is really gentle on the skin, but it does exfoliate incredibly well. So not only have you got an exfoliating oil but it can also double up as a mask, so once you have massaged it into the skin, leave it for up to 5 minutes to work its magic and then massage the skin as you remove the remainder. This is a scrub I have been using once a week during my pamper time and my skin does absolutely love it. A 100ml tube retails for £19.

L’Occitane-Pivoine-Sublime-Skin-Care

The final product within my trio is a Perfecting Toner.  I have admitted on many occasions that I never have been bothered about using a toner, much the same as a Micellar Water, I don't quite see the point.  However, I am always willing to try something before knocking it and with this product I was left pleasantly surprised at how much I did enjoy using it. So having removed the majority of 'gunk' off my face with the Perfecting Make-up Remover, I then use the Toner to mop up what is left or has come to the surface of my skin.  Described as being a gentle toner which completes he make-up removal routine and revives the complexion with natural balancing actives. Enriched with perfecting Peony extract, it leaves the skin hydrated and smoother. So dispensing the toner onto a cotton wool pad, I wipe it across my skin and it is quite refreshing and cooling I find but it also leaves my skin so soft, smooth and hydrated. It costs just £15 for 200ml so is an absolute bargain.

L’Occitane-Pivoine-Sublime-Skin-Care

This is such a beautiful range of products and one that is well worth looking into if you have never tried anything from L'Occitane before.

Mothers Day with L'Occitane

Are you still deciding to what to purchase for Mothers Day or looking for something to treat yourself with? Well L'Occitane helps you to celebrate Mother’s Day with a stunning selection of gifts sets from right across their product range. So whether it is a new fragrance, body care, hand cream or some soap gift sets, you will find the perfect present.  I have chosen some of my favourite products to share with you in this post.

For those who love their skincare and like to look after it, the Ultimate Divine Collection is just perfect. Containing three products that I adore - Immortelle Oil Make-up Remover which is really gentle on the skin but absolutely amazing at removing even the most stubborn of makeup, Divine Lotion which helps to maintain the skin's balance and accelerate cellular renewal, for a beautiful, younger-looking complexion and finally Divine Cream which brings supreme nutrition to the skin and fights all the signs of ageing and it smells just amazing. This gift set retails at £78 but if the products were bought separately then you would be paying £107, so this is an absolute bargain.
Mothers Day with L'Occitane
The Delicious Almond Collection is one I personally want for myself.  As someone who hates marzipan but adores the scent, it probably sounds a bit crazy. This set contains four products and again they are ones I absolutely love. A 250ml bottle of Almond Shower Oil which when used turns from an oil to a foam and creates this stunning almond scent which lingers on the skin for hours and hours. Almond Delicious Soap is not just any bar of soap, it is more a pampering session for the hands and can be used on knees, elbows, feet and body if you so wish. Using ground almond shells to gently scrub away dead skin cells, it leaves your hands clean and rough areas smooth. Delicious Hands Hand cream really leaves your hands feeling soft, smooth and nourished and finally Almond Milk Concentrate which not only leaves your skin feeling nourishing, soft and smooth it also leaves the skin looking firmer and re-densified thanks to the action of almond proteins and a silicium derivative.  Priced at £42.

Mothers Day with L'Occitane

If hand cream is something your Mum would like, then the Must-Have Hand Trio is the gift you need to purchase.  Beautifully presented in a L'Occitane Signature Box, inside are three amazing handcreams - Shea Butter Hand Cream, Cherry Blossom Hand Cream and Almond Delicious Hands.  All three of these hand creams have a rich texture which is rapidly absorbed to leave the hands soft and smooth with no oily traces. Make this gift even more perfect by adding the One Minute Hand Scrub, which I adore and you have a beautiful hand pamper hamper. This gift set is priced at £22.
Mothers Day with L'Occitane
I know my mum likes fragrances and I too am a huge perfume fan, so the

Néroli & Orchidée Gift Set is perfect.  This collection contains a 75ml Néroli & Orchidée Eau de Toilette, a 250ml Néroli & Orchidée Shower Gel and a 50ml Néroli & Orchidée Body Milk.  The scent combines the zesty notes of orange and mandarin, Néroli with Orchidée make this perfect for those who like a mixture of their florals and zesty fragrances.  On a first spritz it is incredibly zesty with the Mandarin, Orange and Neroli before settling on the skin to allow the floral notes of white orchids to come through.  A beautiful light scent for the Spring and Summer and a gift set retailing at just £42.

Mothers Day with L'Occitane

The final set is one of my favourites again and it is the Relaxing Lavender Collection. With five products included, this is one beautiful set. Starting with a 500ml bottle of Lavender Foaming Bath, this bottle is perfect for adding to the bath to forget about the stresses and strain of the week and it creates lots of bubbles. If you don't have the time for a bath, then the inclusion of a 250ml bottle of Lavender Shower Gel and Lavender Bonne Mere Soap are great for cleasning the skin and relaxing with the scent as it hits the steam of your shower. Then once out of the bath or shower there is a 75ml bottle of Lavender Body Lotion and Hand Cream to leave the skin feeling soft, nourished, moistured and incredibly hydrated. This set costs just £42.

Mothers Day with L'Occitane
As well as these gift sets, there are a huge array of other products to choose from such as Lip Balms, Travel Sized gift sets, Reed Diffusers and many other scents too.

What have you bought for Mothers Day?

L’Occitane Ultra Soft Balm for International Women’s Day 2016

Every year to mark International Women's Day, L'Occitane launches an exclusive solidarity product to support women in developing countries. This year, International Women's Day falls on March 8th. This year, L'Occitane has chosen to focus on women in Burkina Faso, a relationship which has been developing for the last 30 years. Fast forward to today and a partnership which started with just 12 local women has now developed into an enterprise of over 17,000 women which is truly astonishing, and it is those women produce the Shea Butter, an ingredient which features in so many of L'Occitane's award winning collections and an ingredient that my skin absolutely loves.
L’Occitane Ultra Soft Balm for International Women’s Day 2016
L’Occitane Ultra Soft Balm for International Women’s Day 2016

L'Occitane has its own global programme Women for Burkina which has three main objectives: to assist in literacy, to provide access to micro-loans and to promote entrepreneurial actions. Only ONE our of five women in Burkino Faso today knows how to read and write. Since 2010, 900 women have gained access to literacy programmes sponsored by the L'Occitane Foundation and more than 6,000 women have gained access to the micro-loans. These micro-loans help women to develop an activity that generates money for their households.

How can you help?  As I mentioned, each year, L'Occitane launches an exclusive solidarity product to support women in developing countries and this year it is the Ultra-soft Balm, 100%* of the profits will go to fund these special projects.  This Shea Butter Balm is a rose scented multi-purpose moisturiser and it can be used on your lips, your body especially cuticles, elbows and knees and it can also be used on your hair.  It smells just absolutely divine and comes presented inside this beautifully decorated motif tin which is said to have been designed symbolise the wax-print fabrics worn by Burkinabe women and is a symbol of festivity and tradition which is deep-rooted in African Cultural Heritage.

The tin is a perfect size for chucking in your handbag and it costs just £4 right here.  I am sure that on Women's Day there will be snippets of information about famous women who have all done their bit, but what I love about this project, is the idea of being able to champion women who have quite possibly changed more lives than we will ever appreciate by working hard to do so.

Will you be buying a tin?

Melting Honey Soft Shower Gel - If ever there was a shower gel that smells good enough to eat, it is this one.  As with the Exfoliating Sugars, this shower gel is enriched with softening shea extract and honey from Provence.  It is a golden-coloured shower gel that gently cleanses the skin while leaving it feeling supple and comfortable with the delicious scent of melting honey.

L’Occitane Almond Velvet Collection

Following on from the beautiful Bleu & Iris Blanc Perfume, L’Occitane’s latest releases are scientifically formulated to help improve the signs of aging on the body as well as reducing age spots and hyper pigmentation, and helping to restore firmness whilst combating lines and wrinkles. The new Almond Velvet Duo which consists of a balm and a serum have been my go to products for the last month and boy are they something amazing.

I personally cannot stand marzipan but I love almonds and anything almond scented, so I was really eager to try these two products out.

L’Occitane Almond Velvet Collection

The Almond Velvet Balm** (£42) is such a beautifully scented balm you cannot help but love it and want to use it. On the skin it feels luxurious and rich and incredibly moisturising. The scent was not quite what I was expecting, as someone who loathes the taste and smell of marzipan, it filled me with dread that my skin would end up smelling like someone's wedding cake. Thankfully, that was not the case at all.

Instead what you get is a really light and very refreshing floral scent which lingers for a good few hours after application on the skin. It isn't overly sweet or sickly it is just stunning. The purpose of the Almond Velvet Balm is to target the five signs of ageing which include dryness, skin slackening, lack of tonicity, fine lines and skin irregularities. Having applied this religiously, my skin is so soft and smooth that if I could bathe in this, I would.

L’Occitane Almond Velvet Collection
L’Occitane Almond Velvet Collection

The Almond Velvet Serum** (£38) is the second beautifully scented product in this duo. This serum is the first ever anti-ageing serum by
L’Occitane and it combines the almond youth complex of Vitamin C and carefully selected active ingredients to help even out skin tone and brighten the complexion.

This serum is really lightweight on the skin, it has a silky texture that once applied, rapidly absorbs itself into the skin where it acts deep within the skin to reverse sun damage and plump and firm. Again on the skin, this serum, like the Balm is so incredibly moisturising, it is simply divine. Designed to be used on your entire body on its own or with the Velvet Balm. The scent again mirrors that of the soft floral fragrance previously mentioned and again once on the skin, the scent lingers for a good few hours after application.

L’Occitane Almond Velvet Collection
L’Occitane Almond Velvet Collection

L’Occitane promises that after only one month, skin texture will look smoother and more even. And after two months, sun induced dark spots will appear less visible and skin’s youthfulness will be revealed.

Both of these products are on the pricey side but in my honest opinion, are more than definitely worth every single penny. If you’re looking to up your skin care game then I highly recommend you try the Almond Velvet Duo out and coming from someone who is totally useless at applying bodycream, to have applied this every day for the last month without fail, they must be superb products.

The L’Occitane Almond Velvet Collection is available to purchase now from L’Occitane.

L'Occitane & My Little Box event

L'Occitane is a brand I am absolutely loving the discovery of and there are a few products to share on the blog in coming weeks, but last week I was invited along to the Covent Garden store to a blogger event which was in conjunction with My Little Box, a beauty box which has taken the blogging world my storm and one I was keen to learn more about.

On arrival I was treated to an absolutely amazing and most relaxing hand massage and then was introduced to the My Little Box which is filled with L'Occitane hero products. For those not in the know, My Little Box is a hand-picked and beautifully designed box of fashion, beauty and lifestyle surprises. This box aptly named My Little Provence Box is adorned with a floral pattern and a striking figure of a woman.

Inside the box there are seven items in total. The first item I saw is a card with the saying "In Provence, the sun rises twice a day - once in the morning and once after nap time" by Yvan Audouard, a writer and journalist. There is also a newspaper which opens right out into a huge print after you read all the articles, including what the fabulous Really Ree has inside her vanity bag!

Next is perhaps the best item I have come across in a beauty box. My Little Provence Doll. Not an actual doll but a magnetic one with magnetic clothes, hours of fun to be had with this.

Sunny Things inside Cuff - This I love. I am not the most artistic of people, but being able to make my own bracelet really appeals. The cuff is described as being the ultimate DIY accessory for the summer. Inside this box you have the cuff bracelet and two different coloured cotton threads, I have a navy blue and bright blue and all you need to do is follow the instructions to create it.

Naturally being a beauty box there is a little tote bag which has those four L'Occitane hero products inside and this is what there is:

  • Mer & Mistral Shower Gel - The Mer & Mistral Fresh Shower Gel gently cleanses the skin, leaving it freshly perfumed with the aquatic and aromatic scent of the Mer & Mistral fragrance. Skin is left clean and perfumed with an invigorating scent which lingers on the skin all day.
  • Roses et Reines hand and nail creme - Enriched with shea butter and vitamin E, the Roses et Reines Hand & Nail Cream helps nourish, soften and protect the hands while helping to strengthen the nails. This is a lovely little handcream, it smells very much of fresh roses and it leaves your hand so soft and moisturised.
  • Verbena Body Lotion - Enriched with organic Verbena extract and grape seed oil, this body light lotion gently moisturises, nourishes and softens the skin, leaving it delicately fragranced with a uplifting zesty aroma.  This is a perfect for those mornings when you just need a poke in the ribs to wake you up, a sharp scent which really hits the senses.
  • Soap with Verbena Leaves - Crushed verbena leaves gently exfoliate as you wash or shower. All-vegetal, non-detergent cleansing base won't dry skin. Rich and creamy, with a light citrus scent.  I am not the worlds biggest fan of soap, it isn't something I tend to get that excited over, but I do love the scent of this and as L'Occitane state, it doesn't dry out your skin.

The final item is The Amazing eyeshadow crayon (rrp £9) of which mine is a metallic brown shade and it is a shade I actually quite like. Like most eyeshadow crayons, it is easy to use and features a twist bottom so you don't have to sharpen it.

As a L'Occitane fan, I absolutely love this box, it contains products I have never tried and it is a perfect weekend away treat all rolled into one with a bit of fun when it comes to the magnetic doll and cuff bracelet.

You can subscribe to My Little Box** for £14.95 per month which includes P&P - link

The best Beauty Advent Calendars 2014 + A giveaway

I don't know about you but my inbox is fairly quiet on the whole 'Christmas' thing right now, there was a flurry of activity around the beginning of the month and now, well not so much.

One thing I am seeing more and more of however is the launching of Beauty a advent Calendars, remember last there when there was a stampede into Benefit for their calendar, only for them to run out and be found on eBay for almost quadruple the price? Well this year it seems there has been an explosion in Beauty Advent Calendars and having spent a few days reading about them through various means, I thought I would share them with you - one thing to note... Why is there nothing for the men folk?

Tesco - Costing just £50 instead of the actual retail value of a whopping £125, Tesco have announced they are to launch an advent calendar this year. Contents include Nip + Fab, Korres, Tanya Burr, and Dr Lewinn's plus many more.
