Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo

Living Proof as a brand, is one I absolutely love. If you haven't come across them before, their range of products has been developed by world-class biotech scientists and beauty experts, who have taken it upon themselves to solve the root causes of everyone’s top hair concerns - be it frizz, damage, and fullness to name just a few.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo
With their team of stylists and scientists, they came together to analyse 100's of competitive products that have been on the market for the last 30 years and what they found was that the traditional beauty industry relies on heavy silicone's that mask hair symptoms but don’t really solve them. So, taking that in account, they have crated a whole range of products for different hair types, concerns and I am yet to find a single product that my hair doesn't love.

One of my favourite products is the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo which I have featured on my blog many, many times and now, but excitingly the original product has a big sister with the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo and it might just be my new favourite.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo
I have combination hair, so greasy roots and dry ends and I tend to wash my hair every other day otherwise I look horrendous and my hair just doesn't sit right.  Over the years, I have tried many, many dry shampoos and whilst they do the job they are designed to do - usually absorb excess oil and mask the scent of unwashed hair, my problem is my scalp is really picky and I tend to find they irritate or itch my scalp after an hour or two after application, except not with Living Proof.
Perfect hair Day™ Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo is the ultimate dry shampoo experience. It not only keeps hair clean between washes, it delivers results comparable to a rinse-out shampoo. It works by using fast-absorbing powders to soak up oil, sweat, and odor; then our advanced powder removal system easily eliminates activated powders for a fresh start. Finishing and conditioning agents refresh your scalp and balance sebum levels — leaving hair soft, shiny, and more manageable.
Perfect hair Day™ Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo contains conditioning agents that work to leave your hair feeling soft, shiny, and manageable, without the tell-tale sign that you have used a dry shampoo, essentially there is no white powder all over your shoulders and within your hair, so you won't look as though you have been merrily spraying flour or talc around yourself in an effort to disguise your greasy hair.

The advice when using this product is to really give the can a good shake and then holding it approximately 6 inches from your head, spray the dry shampoo onto your hair.  I always section my hair when I use this product to ensure I get all the parts I need to get and then, following the advice, wait for around 30 seconds and massage my head to remove any loose powder and then style my hair. As this can has a specially designed nozzle, it does ensure you get an even application.

What this Perfect Hair Day Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo gives me is up to 2 extra days of not having to wash my hair if I don't want too. Whereas the original Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo is perfect for use on day 2 hair, you can get away with using the Advanced option on day 2, 3 or 4 and it has the same result.  So,  whilst I will always know my when my hair needs washing, I now don't feel that I need to rush in a morning and I love that this does clean my hair and leaving it feeling and smelling fresh.

On sale now, the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo is priced at £23 and can be found via Space NK, Cult Beauty and Lookfantastic to name a few places.

This box is worth over £100, but is on sale for just £35 and for me, that is just an absolute bargain. Described as being the box for featuring a head-turning collection for those seeking salon-worthy, bouncy locks 24/7 and inside you will see products from brands such as OUAI, Fekkai and Philip B.

ECooking Hair Care Collection

I absolutely adore the brand Ecooking and have loved getting to know the brand ever since I was first introduced to it back in 2018. Since that time, the brand has evolved and the range of products has got better and better. Today I am sharing two products from the hair care range!
ECooking Hair Care Collection
Having tried both the Multi Shampoo and Hair Mask for a good few months now, both products are amazing to use and if you need some new hair care, this is as good a place to start as any.

Ecooking’s new Multi Shampoo (£19) has both a cooling and soothing effect on the skin and it is therefore especially good for a dry and sensitive scalp, something that plagued me for months during lockdown and this shampoo couldn’t have arrived at a better time.
ECooking Hair Care Collection
Packaged in an ice blue coloured tube, this Multi Shampoo contains a whole host of incredible ingredients which includes peptides and amino acids among other ingredients, their job is to not only enhance the collagen production but by doing this, it also improves hair growth.

Multi Shampoo contains:

  • Capibiome that rebalances the scalp and has a soothing and cooling effect on the skin.
  • Hydrolyzed wheat protein, a natural protein with amino acids, which comes from wheat. Revives the hair and makes it softer.
  • Peptides that improve the hair structure making your hair appear thicker, fuller and healthier.
  • Capiguard, an active ingredient, which protects your hair and hair colour – both natural hair colour and colour-treated hair – against pollution and UVA rays among other things.
Vegan and dermatologically tested and without SLS & SLES, this shampoo also has both UVA and pollution protection that protect your hair your hairs colour whether that is natural and coloured hair and it protects against sun, water, air, and pollution to name just a few. Despite all this goodness, this Multi Shampoo has the most wonderful fresh scent of flowers, green leaves with a twist of mint.

On the hair, this shampoo doesn’t lather as much as others I’ve tried, but it does an incredible job at giving your hair that clean, freshly washed feeling and all without leaving your hair feeling heavy, greasy, lank or in need of moisture.

A hair mask is something I try to use weekly on my hair, this mask from Ecooking  (£23) is described as being a multi-functional offering because it works as both a mask and a conditioner.
ECooking Hair Care Collection
ECooking Hair Care Collection
From the hair masks that I use, I want something that nourish and protect my hair without leaving it feeling greasy. I find that because I have combination hair, too much conditioner or too heavy a mask really doesn’t do my hair any favours, it just leaves my head feeling like an oil slick and I want to start all over again with washing my hair. Not so with this mask.

This Hair Mask is rich in the ingredients it uses to protect, moisturise, and nourish and those ingredients are:
  • Organic coconut oil that protects hair and keeps hair moisturised.
  • Natural mango butter that reduces breakage and hair loss by strengthening the hair follicles. Also helps grow a stronger and healthier hair.
  • Natural red alga that provides the surface of the hair with a protective layer that protects hair from UV rays, pollution, and mechanical and chemical stress. It also helps to repair and smooth the cuticle if it’s damaged.
  • Natural crambe oil, provides hair with shine, improves hair elasticity, and strengthens the hair fibres.
  • Natural foxtail amaranth gives the hair strand volume, straightens hair, reduces friction, and makes hair tangle less.
  • Natural Aloe vera nourishes and moisturises hair as well as the scalp.
  • Hydrolysed wheat protein which is contains amino acids that revive and soften hair.
  • Provitamin B5 that retains and preserves moisture.
Furthermore, that red alga also protects your hair from the ’stress’ it experiences during dyeing or towel drying, something to be mindful of when we want that perfect 'do'.  It is worth noting that this mask also has the wonderful fresh scent of flowers with a hint of citrus, nothing too overpowering but enough to let you know it is there.  After using, it leaves my hair soft and smooth to the touch, there are no tangles, minimal frizz and it makes styling my hair a delight.

If you are familiar with Ecooking then you will know that their products are Vegan, dermatologically tested, and without SLS & SLES.

Living Proof Scalp Care Revitalising Treatment

Living Proof has the most amazing range of hair care and I cannot tell you how much I cannot live without their Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo, it is incredible. However, their latest launch the Living Proof Scalp Care Revitalising Treatment arrived through my letter box some times ago now and I adore it.
Living Proof Scalp Care Revitalising Treatment
For me, scalp care is an issue that isn’t talked about enough, though I do my best to share my own issues, products to help soothe, improve and manage the best I can. My scalp is okay 80% of the time, but problems flare up when I am stressed, not feeling great or something had irritated it, at which point my head itches, it is sore, my scalp flakes and to date, I can count on one hand which products I’ve found helpful.

Living Proof are the masters at dealing with problems by finding simple solutions as far as I’m concerned. When it comes to your scalp, before you can treat it, you firstly need to understand it. The scalp is made up
of five layers that work together to force the hair grows and provide a critical barrier to protect your brain. The scalp isn’t just skin or hair, it is a unique environment covered in sebaceous glands with a lower barrier function regular skin but it has a tendency to get damp and dirty because it’s covered in hair - a kind of vicious circle.  From pollution to hormones, diet, stress and even the climate, life takes it toll on your scalp and any build-up can cause dryness, itching, discomfort and even hair loss!

So what is the Living Proof Scalp Care Revitalising Treatment? It is a treatment which is powered by Living Proofs very own targeted Healthy Follicle Complex. This night time treatment is designed to get to the root of hair thinning by fighting environmental stressors like some of those mentioned above. The result of using this product is fuller, thicker, healthier-looking hair that stays put.

This treatment is designed for use by any hair type experiencing thinning hair or anyone who wishes to promote thicker, healthier-looking hair from the root. The Healthy Follicle Complex is described as being a technology that acts like fertiliser for your scalp. Using yeast proteins and zinc salts to promote strengthening the hair at the root while encapsulated time-released actives nourish the hair strands, roots and the scalp. Jojoba Esters and vitamins nourish and moisturise the scalp whilst helping to restore the barrier function for prolonged balanced hydration and scalp care. There is also a peptide blend which plumps hair fibres helping to increase hair diameter for a fuller look and feel.

Living Proof Scalp Care Revitalising Treatment
What I love about this treatment is that it just becomes part of your routine. It is designed to be used on either wet or dry hair and all you need to do is part your hair into sections and apply directly to the scalp and once applied, you don’t need to rinse the product out and I’ve been using it daily for just over a month and whilst I have combination oily hair which means greasy roots and dry ends, I have noticed any issue or problem that has risen from using this leave-in treatment, but my scalp is notably less irritated and stressed. Plus, this treatment comes with its own little massage brush for extra soothing and TLC.

Priced at £25 for 100ml, I’ve already purchased a back up tube ready for when this one runs out, I have a feeling it is now a product I won’t be able to live without!
You can find it via Living Proof, Cult Beauty, Space NK and other Living Proof stockists.

The Body Shop Moringa Hair Care Collection

I rave to anyone who will listen to me as to how good The Body Shop Ginger Hair Care Collection is, we adore it in this house and instead of now having to buy so many bottles of it a year, we take advantage of the refill station to stock up. Over the past few months, The Body Shop has launched five new and improved haircare routines for all hair needs - dry, dull, flaky, itchy, frizzy and even oily.
The Body Shop Moringa Hair Care Collection
Made from Vegan Silk Protein, a 100% plant-based protein, it works to cleverly replicate the chemical structure of natural silk which is produced by the common European garden spider, so now because the entire range is fully plant-based and registered with the Vegan Society, no spiders or silkworms are harmed or disturbed to obtain it.   Plus all of the products within The Body Shop haircare range is now made with at least 90% ingredients of natural origin.

I was kindly sent the new Moringa Hair Care Collection which is made up of three products - a shampoo, a conditioner and a shine & protection hair mist as well as comb and very funky scrunchie, which has been very handy to have of late.
Get healthier-feeling, shinier hair and help protect it from daily pollution. Made with Community Fair Trade moringa seed oil and extract from Rwanda and Vegan Silk Protein.
This routine visibly restores dull hair's radiance and shine. Expect softer, smoother and healthier looking hair that smells fragrantly floral.
The Moringa Shine & Protection Shampoo (250ml/£7.50) is designed to gently cleanse and leave your hair feeling fresh and looking both healthier and shinier. It also helps to protect the hair from daily pollution.
The Body Shop Moringa Hair Care Collection
This shampoo is absolutely divine to use, it smells really fresh and lathers with very little help at all.  Whilst washing my hair with this shampoo, what I have noticed is that it doesn't irritate my scalp, an issue I have with some shampoo brands is the quickness to irritate the back of my head, usually within minutes of using the product, but not with this.  As you rinse the shampoo suds from your hair, you can feel just how smooth your hair is, almost like silk, to use a phrase.

The Moringa Shine & Protection Conditioner (250ml/£7.50) is a must have follow-up to using the shampoo above.  You need just the tiniest amount, a walnut sized dollop is what The Body Shop recommends, and then comb it through your lengths and ends with a good sized wide tooth detangling comb to ensure it is spread throughout you hair and then leave it to work it magic for a few minutes and then rinse out with warm water.
The Body Shop Moringa Hair Care Collection
The Body Shop Moringa Hair Care Collection
Again, this conditioner is one which doesn't leave your hair feeling weighted down or greasy after using and it is one I have been using twice a week since it arrived and my hair loved it.

The third product within this range is the Moringa Shine & Protection Hair Mist (100ml/£10) and it was never a product I expected to like and use as much as I do, but the bottle shown within this post is actually my second!
The Body Shop Moringa Hair Care Collection
This lightweight mist is non-sticky and smells absolutely incredible.  Again, made with the Vegan Silk Protein which runs throughout the entire collection, this mist is designed to leave dull hair looking instantly shinier and more radiant and the best part is that it helps to protect it from daily pollution.  Without question, I use this more than I probably should, but I love how it makes my hair feel and it is even better for that second day after wash, when your hair won't be a fresh as it was the day before!

As well as the Moringa Hair Care Collection, the Body Shop also has the Tea Tree Purifying * Balancing range which features a shampoo, conditioner and a beautiful sounding scalp scrub, the much loved Ginger Collection, the Banana Truly Nourishing Collection which smells divine and the Shea Intense Repair Collection with an amazing sounding hair mask as part of trio of products.  All of these collections, which have been re-packaged and are made from 100% recycled plastic which includes Community Fair Trade Recycled Plastic which has been collected off the streets of Bengaluru in India.

Aldi hair mask - is it a dupe?

I have shared a lot of the Aldi Lacura range on my blog and in recent months, more and more people message me and ask if I have tried this or have I tried that. The last product I shared was the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm dupe, which I liked but didn’t love. Today is the turn of the Lacura Hair mask, some say it’s a dupe of the Coco and Eve Like A Virgin Mask - it isn’t a mask I have tried, but a good friend of mine swears they are pretty similar!
Aldi hair mask - is it a dupe?
Aldi’s Lacura Hair Mask is priced at just £4.99, though I managed to grab it for just £1.99 in store and when compared to the Cocoa and Eve mask I previously mentioned, which costs £32.90, it isn’t hard to see why this Aldi hair mask is a constant sell out everytime it comes back into stock - which it has done between my purchasing it and writing my review.

The Aldi Lacura mask comes packaged in a floral box and inside the tub is bright pink, the Coco and Eve mask is sold in a similar looking tub but with a lighter pink base and green lid - so not quite the dupe at this stage. The one thing Aldi does well is similarities, you can usually tell what the product is there to dupe by looking at it, with this, it is not the case. However, when it comes to ingredients both feature coconut and fig on their list and both are designed to nourish dry, struggling hair which is in need of some TLC.

Aldi describes the mask as the ‘perfect addition to your beauty regime.’ For me, any hair care routine needs a hair mask. I try and apply one at least once a week!
Transform your hair with a Lacura Hair Mask,’ they write. ‘Deep treat your hair 2-3 times a week with this nourishing hair mask. You’ll be left feeling refreshed, revitalised and most importantly relaxed.
This mask is said to be a 5-in-1 mask that works to revive, restore, repair, tame, and deeply conditions as well as working to target frizz and help the appearance of split ends. Now this is quite the claim. Vegan and cruelty-free, this is a hair mask which smells absolutely delightful and reminds me of holidays, it is quite thick and luxurious, so it is a case of a little goes a long way and it is easy to use.
Aldi hair mask - is it a dupe?
Aldi hair mask - is it a dupe?
The Lacura Hair Mask states that you should apply a generous amount of the product to damp hair after washing it and then leaving it on your hair for up to ten minutes before rinsing it out with warm water. As an extra treat, you can also leave the hair mask in overnight if your hair is extra damaged and this gives you a deeper treatment for your hair, which you rinse out the following morning. My hair hasn’t seen a salon for the longest time I can remember, my local salon where I went regularly doesn’t have the same appeal since my stylist left the U.K. to go back to New Zealand, so whilst I decide what to do with my hair, I need all the help I can get because it is very unruly with a life of it’s own, not to mention that it is also half way down my back when usually it sits comfortably on and around my shoulders!

As I’ve said, this mask does have a luxurious feel to it and it does smell absolutely delightful. I have used it both as a weekly mask and have tried the option of using it overnight and I have to say, it has impressed me. My hair felt softer and smoother to the touch, not as much frizz as I expected to have and it didn’t weight my hair down or leave it feeling greasy - all of which has really impressed me and I can see why it gets the rave reviews it has been getting!

This mask has again currently sold out, but if you see it in the future, it is definitely one to try and it costs less than £5!

L’Occitane Solid Shampoo Bars

Have you ever had to decide between maintaining your hair using products you love, and caring for the environment? Is a question a lot of brands are asking right now and one who definitely are making a lot of waves to change things is L'Occitane with their introduction of Solid Shampoo Bars.
L’Occitane Solid Shampoos
Within the L'Occitane Solid Shampoo hair care range are three different options to choose from - Intensive Repair, Gentle & Balance or Purifying Freshness and each one of these is designed to suit specific hair types.
At L’OCCITANE, we have decided you shouldn’t have to choose, by giving you great sustainable beauty products that contain effective plant derived ingredients; cultivated with care for the environment and encapsulated in one sustainable and sensorial hair range. Discover the expertise of L’OCCITANE 5 Essential Oils Hair Collection in a new, solid, sustainable format.
These Solid Shampoos have not only been created with your hair and the planet in mind, the shampoo bars are made with 98% readily biodegradable ingredients, they are entirely plastic-free and their packaging is made from 100% recycled and recyclable paper making it the perfect sustainable option. Shampoo bars are not a new creation, they have been around for many years but over time, whilst some haven't offered many benefits at all for my hair, these offerings from L'Occitane are absolutely brilliant, not that you would expect anything less and not only do they lather with minimal fuss and faff, they leave my hair feeling refreshed, washed and not at all weighted down or like straw.

I was kindly sent two of the three Solid Shampoo Bars to try and the first thing I noticed was the incredible fresh scent which belonged to the Gentle & Balance Bar as I opened the box.
L’Occitane Solid Shampoos
L’Occitane Solid Shampoos
This Shampoo Bar is said to be suitable for all hair types and from this one bar you get around 20 hair washes. Free from silicones and sulphates, this shampoo bar is formulated with a prebiotic natural sugar complex which means it not only respects and maintains scalp eco system and pH, but it does all of that whilst strengthening skin natural defences.

This Gentle & Balance Shampoo Bar is enriched with the essential oils of Lemon, Orange, Rosemary, Chamomile and Lavender and as I have said already, it smells absolutely incredible, the kind of scent that is relaxing and calming, but its for your hair and not your skin, though I am tempted to use it on my body every time I shower.  As it comes into contact with water its light, fluid texture offers a unique sensorial experience, while the exquisite fragrance awakens the senses, it lathers in just a few rubs between your palms and then you rub that lather directly to your hair and scalp, massage it around, L'Occitane advise that you should start from the bottom of your scalp and moving upwards to your temples with small circular motions and then finish at the top of your scalp before rinsing from your hair.

The second shampoo bar is the Intensive Repair Shampoo bar and this one is designed for brittle and damaged hair, so if like me you haven't seen the inside of a hair salon since January 2020, this might just be calling your name.
L’Occitane Solid Shampoo Bars
L’Occitane Solid Shampoo Bars
Again, packaged sustainably, the Intensive Repair Solid Shampoo is perfect for hair that is feeling dry, brittle and a bit damaged, be that from chemicals if you have been over-doing those home box dye kits or from heat styling. It has been designed to help to revitalise, strengthen and protect the hair from  root to tip, the hair fibre is strengthened. Soft and radiant, the hair is full of life.

Again, this shampoo bar is really gentle and also has a silicone and sulphate free formula. The ingredients used for this option is a combination of oat amino acid whose job it is to repair, restructure and improve the hairs fibre condition and then we have a patented anti-breakage complex made up of five essential oils - angelica, ylang-ylang, sweet orange, lavender of course and then geranium with provitamin B5 and sunflower oil and together they work to protect and give softness and suppleness to the hair.

The scent for me with this shampoo bar isn't as strong as it is with Gentle & Balance, but there is definitely a light aromatic scent which lingers.  Again, this shampoo bar should be used in exactly the same way and as soon as you form that lather and apply it to your hair and scalp and massage until you feel ready to rinse all of the suds from your hair.  After using, again my hair feels really clean and rather than dry and frazzled, it soft soft and smooth.

These shampoo bars from L'Occitane are priced at just £10 and they are available right now on the brands website along with the rest of the collection.  I am a huge fan of the hair care range from L'Occitane, particularly with the Almond Collection which gives my hair a whole lot of TLC when I need it.  With these shampoo bars, which we have both been using for a few months, you really do get your monies worth.

AQUIS COPPERSURE RAPID DRY HAIR WRAP

I have made no secret about my love Aquis, a brand of luxury hair wraps and my collection has grown considerably since I was introduced to them back in 2016 with the Aquis Lisse-luxe hair towel. Recently added to my collection is the Aquis Coppersure Rapid Dry Hair Wrap and it’s my favourite of the collection so far.
AQUIS COPPERSURE RAPID DRY HAIR WRAP
Designed to reduce frizz and breakage while at the same time quickly drying hair, the Aquis Coppersure Wrap is described as being a naturally antimicrobial hair wrap that helps to dry hair while reducing the need for heat and friction, promoting stronger, healthier locks. Plus it is so incredibly easy to use that once you have tried it and seen the results for yourself, there will be no going back to another product.

This multitasking hair wrap is woven with Aquis’ trademarked Copper Sure™ technology, which means it features an antimicrobial and antibacterial copper whose job it is to repel bacteria so that the wrap stays fresher for longer meaning you have to wash it less . The innovative design, known as Aquitex works to cut drying time in half, helping to protect hair while it is wet and at its weakest, while also reducing breakage and damage by minimising the need for towel or blow-drying.

Every single hair towel and turban I own from Aquis has been amazing and as the collection has evolved and newer products released, for me, the towel has got better and until Coppersure version arrived, I was obsessed with the Aquis Charmeuse 2 Layer Hair Turban which I’ve used over and over again because it has made such a difference to my hair, better still when I use it with a hair mask.

As a reminder of some of the benefits for using an Aquis Towel, this one has quite a few and here they are.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Woven with Copper Sure™ technology for antibacterial protection
  • Helps to cut down on hair-drying time
  • Works to reduce frizz and breakage
  • Minimises the need for damaging towel-drying and blow-drying
  • Promotes healthy, shiny and stronger hair
Bend at the waist, place the turban on the back of your head with the button at the nape of your neck and then twist until the towel is tight but comfortable and then secure it in place by  fastening the loop to the button and then wait for around 10-20 minutes and let your hair air dry or blow dry and style as normal.

The towels, wraps and turbans from Aquis are the perfect hair care tool, not just if you travel a lot but also if you have a holiday booked or are on route to the hair salon, these Aquis Towels are ideal all of these occcasions and mine comes with me wherever I go.  Priced at £30 you can find the Aquis Coppersure Rapid Dry Hair Wrap online and in store from places such as Space NK, Aquis, Lookfantastic* and Selfridges* and I cannot recommend them enough.

Kevin.Murphy Hydrate-Me. Masque

Having not seen the inside of a hair salon for a few days shy of 18 months now, my hair is the longest it has been for years and it very much needs a big trim because it is becoming slightly unmanageable and it is taking an absolute age to dry.  In the meantime, I am still doing my best to look after my locks and when my hair needs some TLC, I have been using some incredible hair masques from Kevin Murphy, including this one which is the Hydrate-Me Masque.
One of my absolute favourite products from the Kevin Murphy brand is the Scalp.Spa Scrub which I featured some time ago on my blog.  The brand takes its inspiration from skincare, designed to deliver performance, strength and longevity to your hair but weightlessly.  One thing I really don't like about some hair masks is how weighted they make your hair feel after use.

This masque is described as being an ultra moisturising and smoothing treatment mask which is formulated to re-hydrate and soften dry, frizzy and course hair types. As my hair hasn't neem treated in a salon for some time, it does feel quite dry, especially at the ends, so masques such as this one have been absolutely delightful to use.  It also comes packaged inside the most pretty of purple bottles which features a pump action dispenser and I've found that two pumps is more than enough for my mane.

It features an incredible fragrant blend of Rose Hip, Evening Primrose and Kakadu plum, a light yet fresh scent that isn't too strong and with those ingredients we also have the inclusion of seaweed Shea butter and Vitamin C too. The main purpose of this masque is to smooth and repair and to do that, the inclusion of both vitamin C and vitamin E., are a must. Vitamin C as we know is a very potent anti-oxidant and vitamin E works to provide moisture, what I love is that the vitamins within this mask have been included using what is referred to as being a new process of micro encapsulating. This process keeps each of the vitamins separate within the formula and only come into contact when you use the masque as the capsules explode on contact, to deliver that much needed hydration and moisture. The inclusion of Kakadu Plum is to smooth the surface of the hair to lock in that vital moisture, which in turns leaves the hair looking much smoother, hydrated and feeling less coarse to the touch. Then with the Seaweed, its role is help cleanse hair of excess oil whilst at the same time hydrating to bring out that natural shine.

As with most hair masques, this one is designed to be used after washing your hair. Whilst it is still wet, it is to be massaged into the lengths and ends before being left to work its magic for 5-10 minutes. For me, this is another ticked box with Kevin Murphy hair care because as amazing as the products are, they are not ones which need to take up too much of your time.

This masque is gluten free as well as being paraben, sulphate and also cruelty free. Available from Kevin Murphy and Cult Beauty* and it is priced at £30 for 200ml.

Lookfantastic are back with another Limited Edition Box and this time it is with MoroccanOil, a brand which definitely does not need any introduction.  Over the past few months, Lookfantastic have had some amazing boxes - Laura Mercier, the Scent Edit and Eve Lom to name a few, for me what I love is the focus on one brand, giving you the chance to try some of their best selling products.  This box is doing just that.

Biovène solid Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Spanish eco brand Biovène Barcelona launched its all-natural plastic-free Shampoo-In-A Bar range in the UK back in January and I’ve been using them for some time now.Biovène solid Shampoo and Conditioner Bars
As part of its #replacethebottle campaigns the Biovène Barcelona shampoo and conditioning bars use natural ingredients including essential oils which are gentle enough to be used daily. The shampoo and conditioners  are available in five variant which include:
  • Hydrate Repair,
  • Damage Control,
  • Moisture Volume,
  • Clear Protect
  • Nourish Restore.
So depending on how you would describe your hair type, there is something that you can use.

I have a shampoo and conditioner bar from two of the ranges which I have been using on my hair. The first is the Hydrate Repair Argan Oil & Mint includes natural argan oil, peppermint, macadamia oil, beeswax and shea butter. Not only has it been designed to recover shine and softness with optimal hydration the blend also works to combat hair loss, maintain a healthy scalp and repair hair damaged by colour and styling.

The conditioner-in-a-bar format replaces the need for a plastic bottle, contains no water, and can last as long as one and a half (1½) bottles of liquid conditioner.

The shampoo and conditioner bars are both square shaped and to use wet both your hair and the shampoo bar. Slide the bar from root to tip 3-5 times. Putting the bar to one side, lather the shampoo into your hair. With the conditioner, after shampooing, rinse your hair and smooth the bar over your wet hair. Distribute evenly and leave for 1-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

The second collection I have been using is the Nourish Restore shampoo and conditioner and it is perfect for those of us who teeter towards the oilier side of the hair issues. Pink Heaven, as the collection is called, using a blend of beeswax, shea butter, minerals, vanilla and the essential oils of lavender and grapefruit to smooth, soften and restore hair while deeply cleansing and refreshing. It aims to remove build-up and nourish every strand for stronger, healthier hair.

It foams like a liquid shampoo and can be worked on the hair and scalp really easily. That’s something that I missed in other solid shampoos, honestly.

Biovène Barcelona’s Shampoo & Conditioner bars are:

  • Plastic-free
  • Waterless
  • Biodegradable
  • Environmentally conscious
  • Soap-free
  • Cruelty-free
  • Safe for colored or treated hair
  • pH-balanced
  • Without palm oil and sulfates
  • Free of SLS/SLES (sodium lauryl sulphate/ sodium laureth sulphate)
  • Free of parabens, silicone and phthalates

They are priced at £5.99 each and come in eco-friendly packaging and as part of the launch the brand will be committing to projects such as beach clean-ups, not just in Barcelona, but worldwide.
