Kevin Murphy Scalp.Spa Regimen

Scalp care isn't something I tend to see people talking about, it rarely gets a mention on my social feeds and I can count on one hand the number of blogs I've read who mention it.  For me, it is as important as skincare, at some times, more so.  For years I was just told having greasy roots and dry ends was just part of my genetic make up, that my dry scalp is caused by a build up of products - both of which are true, but it is also I something I can take care of and work on.

I do suffer with a dry scalp, partly because I do have greasy roots but it usually flares up when I am stressed and lockdown hasn't been the easiest of times for anyone has it! The tell tale signs are when I start to itch just behind my ear.  So the lovely people over at Kevin Murphy have come up with the Scalp.Spa Regimen which features two products - Scalp.Spa Scrub and the Scalp.Spa Wash.
"A clean and healthy scalp is important to ensuring the health and growth of your future hair. These products are packed with a range of skin loving ingredients that nurture the scalp back to health, thus giving your hair the radiant results it deserves"

About the Kevin Murphy SCALP.SPA range

Usually Kevin Murphy WASHES are enough on their own to maintain a healthy scalp. However over the years people have developed irritations and irritants on their scalp, such as product build up, excess oil, and sensitivity, which can be caused by a range of factors, including environmental aggressors, like humidity. Kevin Murphy developed the SCALP.SPA range to tackle these issues, to help maintain a healthy scalp, so that your hair, and future hair is healthy, nourished and protected. Packed with a range of skin loving ingredients, the SCALP.SPA products promote overall hair health, from scalp, to root, to the tips!

The Products

The first part of this regimen starts with the Scalp.Spa Scrub (£30 here). Massaging the scrub into damp hair, this scrub, which is ideal for all hair types, gently exfoliates the scalp. Infused with micellar water, which gently attracts and dissolves impurities such as excess oil, then we have celery seed extract, because it is known to detox the scalp, reduce irritation and regulate sebum production. As this is an exfoliation scrub, it uses Perlite, which is a small spherical shaped derivative from volcanic rock which not only gently exfoliates, but does so without scratching the scalp.

What I have loved about using this scrub is how my scalp feels after using it, that clean feeling, the not itching and not leaving my scalp feeling dry or stripped.

Having used the Scalp.Scrub, the second product is the Scalp.Spa Wash (£24 here). As with the scrub, it is also infused with micellar water and celery seed extract, but within the Wash is also rose water which is a calming conditioning property to soothe and protect the scalp. You will also find coconut oil which adds a moisture boost and protects the hair and scalp from dryness.

I absolutely love this scalp shampoo, not only does it cleanse the hair without stripping it, leaving it feeling like straw, instead, I have soft, smooth hair which feels as though i've used a hair mask and left it on for a few days. Texture wise, as the formula is quite thick, you only need a real small amount to create a lather and despite not really having a scent, the only way I can describe it, is clean.

I have been lucky enough to try a lot of Kevin Murphy products during 2020 and without question the Scalp.Spa range has become my favourite and the one I have used a lot of since it arrived. Despite being quite the duo, the Scalp.Spa Wash works just as well on its own as part of my hair care routine as it does as part of a duo to look after my scalp.
