Physicians Formula Launches at Feelunique

Getting hold of some of the cult brands from America is thankfully getting much easier. When Sephora decided it no longer required our money and instead felt we would be better served by Sephora France, there was a lot of annoyed people.  When Physicians Formula recently launched to Feelunique, I was not only lucky enough to be invited to the launch, but I also have a few products to play with and get to know.
Physicians Formula Launches at Feelunique
Founded in 1937 when leading allergist Dr Frank Crandall created Physicians Formula as an expression of love for his wife Edith, who suffered from lupus and longed for makeup that wouldn’t aggravate her sensitive skin.  Recommended by Allergists, dermatologists, ophthalmologists, and plastic surgeons Physicians Formula firmly state that they will never allow any of the 150+ known skin irritants into anything they make. As well as being known for their bronzers and mineral face powders, Physicians Formula also has a whole arsenal of makeup to discover alongside an impressive collection of skincare, which I am lucky enough to have had a sneak preview of and I instantly loved and wanted the Organic Rose Oil Lip Polish.

Over on Feelunique, you will find quite an extensive collection of products which includes - Foundation, BB Cream, Mascara, Eyeshadow, Brow Gel, Blushers, Bronzers, Colour Correctors, Concealer, Primers, Powders, Velvet Liquid Lipstick and Butter Lip Creams to name just a few of the makeup options.  There is also the chance to try some of the skincare too with Clay Masks, Serums, Moisturisers and Vitamin Shots too.  In my stash, I have a few products I have been playing with and they include:
  • Murumuru Butter Bronzer - Described as being an ultra-luxurious bronzer, infused with Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter. So not only is this bronzer packed with essential fatty acids and pro-vitamins that soften, condition and moisturise skin, leaving it silky soft too.  On the skin, it applies like a dream and literally melts onto the skin and gives quite the glow, you can use the accompanying sponge applicator, your fingers or a beauty blender to apply it.  Feelunique have four different shades to choose from depending on your skin tone, I have shade Sunkissed and it is priced at £12.99.
  • Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palette - As with the bronzer, this eyeshadow palette is also infused with Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter, so the texture of each of the eyeshadows are an incredibly soft and ultra-creamy texture and can be applied either dry or wet depending on your preference.  The palette, which I have in Tropical Days, features 12 eyeshadows and it gives you everything from a base shade, right through to the more deeper shade to create that smokey look.  For me, I love this palette because of the choice of neutral shades and I adore Ready for Rio, which is a shimmer.  Priced at £15.99.
  • Murumuru Butter Lip Creams - Again packed with Murumuru, Cupuacu and Tucuma butter, these Lip Creams also offer SPF15 protection. Described as being an ultra-buttery, nutrient-rich lip colour, these lip creams give quite the colour pay-off and I really like how they feel on the lips.  Available in 12 shades, I was kindly gifted Pinkini, Acai Berry and Mauvin' to Brazil.  Each Lip Cream is priced at £7.99.
Also available in the Murumuru Butter range is a Butter Blusher and Sultry Nights Eyeshadow Palette.

I absolutely love Mascara and have made no secret of how much I love it. Killer Curves is described as being a voluptuous, full-volume curling mascara which is infused with Provitamin B5, Peptides and Amino Acids to nourish and strengthen lashes. The brush takes on a unique hourglass shade which helps to coat and set even the tiniest of lashes.  When it comes to the formula, I have never been a fan of overly thick formulas which are heavy and wet to the touch, I have fairly long eyelashes and I really hate the feeling of them being dragged downwards, thankfully Physicians Formula seem to have perfected their formula that works so well with the brush, it gives you just the right amount of product and no excess.  Priced at £10.99.

The Healthy Foundation has an SPF20 and is described as being a long-wearing, buildable and breathable foundation that provides a lightweight, medium coverage with a healthy, satin finish.  Designed to be compatible with all skin types it features the exclusive Brightening Complex and hyaluronic acid which helps to hydrate, brighten and improve the appearance of skin tone and it has an added boost of Vitamins A, C & E which help to provide a flawless, healthy coverage.   I am really picky when it comes to a liquid foundation, I don't like a product that feels as though you have caked it on with just one application, I prefer the lighter touch and this is exactly what you get from Physicians Formula.  I was shade matched to two shades, which means I need to mix them slightly to get my perfect shade and I apply using a beauty blender and I find that it lasts a good 5-6 hours before I need to touch-up and re-apply.  This foundation is priced at £12.99.

The Heathy Eyeshadow Quads are an absolute dream for travelling with, especially if it is something you do regularly or are planning on going on holiday anytime soon. Available in five different options, I have Classic Nude and Smoky Bronze, two quads which can be mixed and matched to create your perfect look. The shadows are ultra-creamy and incredibly pigmented and give you the option of using them wet or dry they can take you from day to night on one quad.  As with most of the products, these shadows are formulated with anti-aging peptides, vegan collagen and vitamins C & E.  Priced at £7.99 each.

The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick which is described as being a decadent mousse-like texture lipstick which delivers high-impact colour and not only does it glide on to the lips for seamless colour. The doe footed applicator really makes the application a dream and because the cream formula is infused with avocado oil, vitamins A & E as well as hyaluronic acid, so it not only hydrates and moisturises, it lasts for a good 4-5 hours on the lips. What I am liking about these liquid lipsticks is that they don't feel drying, they are not tacky when applied and because of the mousse-like texture, they envelop your lips and almost feel as though you have applied a balm.  The liquid lipsticks are available in 9 different shades and I have Dose of Rose, Coral Minerals and Noir-ishing Plum and are priced at £7.99 each.

For me, Physicians Formula has always been one of those brands I have seen people fill their suitcases with in stores like Ulta as they enjoy their holiday in the States.  Now, here in the UK, we can also enjoy and get to know this cult brand and as I make my way through all of these products, I would love to know if anything catches your attention?

Murad Revitalixir Recovery Serum

Murad Revitalixir Recovery Serum is one of those products that you didn't know you would love so much until you tried it. I have reached the bottom of my tube and my skin has absolutely loved it, plus it has quite the unique look.
Murad Revitalixir Recovery Serum
We all suffer from stress and this Revitalixir Recovery Serum is a cannabis-infused serum which has been designed to address stress-induced ageing on the face and around the eyes. When we are stressed, our skin shows signs of being stressed and you might notice the changes in your skin such as:
  • Dryness and dehydration - said to be caused by Cortisol, which reduces the skins ability to hold water
  • Wrinkles - Including expression lines which are enhanced by dehydration
  • Dullness - this stems from slowed cell renewal and dead skin cell build-up
  • Eye Puffiness - caused by the retention of blood and fluid around the eyes
  • Dark Circles - become more prominent when thinner skin enhances the visibility of poor blood circulation.
So for those of us who have any of these issues, has skin which has been exposed to environmental aggressors or for those of us who are getting over an illness, we often find our skin is not at its best.
“Cultural Stress™ is the unnecessary man-made stress we put on ourselves in our attempt to live up to everyone’s expectations. Our hyper-connected, fast-paced society triggers a constant flood of damaging stress hormones, like cortisol, that fatigue our bodies and could show in our skin as dehydration, sallowness, roughness and deep expression lines. The best way to manage stress is through balance, and I formulated Revitalixir Recovery Serum for face and eyes with a balancing blend of relaxing and reviving extracts to help manage the visible effects of stress, minimise skin fatigue and renew vibrancy in an instant and over time.” – Howard Murad, M.D., FAAD
Revitalixir is an oil-based sphere infused serum which is a water-based gel described as having a unique delivery system which holds advanced ingredients to provide the perfect blend to relax and revive the skin - this comes from using the spheres to relax the skin and the gel to revive it. By delivering the ingredients in this way and separating them out, Murad has managed to eliminate the use of binders within the product which means the formula is not only more concentrated but it also ensures the active ingredients are delivered more effectively.

The ingredients within Revitalixir are split into two groups - the Sphere which relaxes the visible signs of stress on the skin and the Outer Gel which revives and renews vibrancy.  So within the Sphere, we have:
  • Hemp Seed oil (Cannabis) - a vegan source of Omega 3, 6 and 9 which helps to soothe and nourish the skin, relieve it of dryness and visibly minimise wrinkles
  • Paracress Extract - this flowering herb helps to quickly smooth skin, improve firmness and deliver a measurable, visible reduction in wrinkles after one use.
  • Hyaluronic Acid - holds more water than any other molecule in the body and is necessary to keep collagen hydrated and youthful.
Within the Outer Gel you will find four main ingredients which are:
  • Wild Indigo - a flowering plant which is used in Ayurveda and is one which quickly calms the skins stress signals. It also helps to visibly reduce under-eye circles and improve the skins tone and luminosity.
  • Neuropeptide - described as being a unique anti-ageing peptide specifically designed to address visible skin wrinkling caused by repetitive facial expressions.
  • Caffeine - helps to combat the appearance of fatigue and stress on the skin, including under-eye puffiness, dullness and loss of tone.
  • Niacinamide - also known as vitamin B3, it helps to refine the skin's texture, increase radiance and boost cell turnover.  It also helps to promote a clearer, more even skin tone.
To use, you apply onto freshly cleansed skin both morning and evening and you only need one pump of the serum because a lot goes a long way and I find that with the one pump, I can massage the serum onto my face, neck and chest and have enough left to pat around my eye area too.

This serum has a really lightweight gel texture to it and once on the skin, it absorbs really quickly, giving you just enough time to pat and massage it on.  It has a really nice pearlescent tint which softly illuminates the skin without leaving you looking as though your skin is really greasy.  I have found that after using, my skin feels incredibly refreshed, supple and most importantly calm.  When I am stressed or feeling run down, I often find my skin reacts with redness to the cheeks, feeling flushed and incredibly dry to the touch, using this serum I am able to help alleviate those issues to quite the degree and I love that my skin feels better for using it.

This serum is £70 here from Murad and it t suits all skins types.
