Revolution Makeup Lip Treatments

Looking after my lips is as important as looking after any other part of my body. The lips play an important role in life and if you think about what you use them for, making sure they look good and don't have dry bits of skin hanging off them. When Revolution Beauty (formerly Makeup Revolution) announced they had two lip treatments available, I bought them without even debating it.
Revolution Makeup Lip Treatments
The Revolution Pro Sugar Lip Scrub (£4) is designed to prep and polish the lips to leave them feeling silky smooth.  My lips go through stages of being dry right where I tend to get cold sores, so I do as much as I can to ensure my lips remain soft and moisturised as best I can.  The Revolution PRO Lip Scrub comes packaged in a twist-up pencil which makes it easy to use because you simply swipe it across the lips as you would do any other lip scrub.

Infused with coconut oil and sugar, the scrub is fairly abrasive and you do need to apply a fair amount of pressure for it to remove dead and dry skin but it does work. As I swipe the crayon across my lip, I then massage the sugar across the stubborn parts using my finger because the nib itself isn't all that sturdy and feels as though it might snap if I apply any pressure.  Then I wipe away any debris using a damp cotton wool pad. Afterwards, my lips feel smoother and softer.

The downside? Well, the list of ingredients doesn't tell a pretty story, namely the inclusion of Parrafin which as we all know is not good for the skin.

The second product is the Revolution Lip Conditioner (£3). Whenever I scrub my lips, I always add a lip balm and one which is as conditioning as possible. Whilst this one cost just £3 I used it a few times and then decided it was not for me. Why? Again, we are back at the ingredients list and up there as the first one is Petroleum. For a good few years now I've moved away from using Petroleum in products as it does nothing for my skin at all and it makes the dryness on my lips worse and it makes them tingle.

Revolution Makeup Lip Treatments
Revolution Beauty says this lip conditioner, which is a clear gel, glides over lips effortlessly, locking in moisture, leaving mouths silky-smooth and hydrated. It is also said that this lip conditioner can be worn as a lip balm alone, to prevent lips from cracking and underneath lipstick for comfort, or add over the top of any lip shade for a gloss finish. For me, it just doesn't work and I found it started to irritate my lips where I am prone to cold sores, so as soon as the tingling started, I stopped using it. So for me, I would much rather stick to my Verso lip serum or the ByBi Lip Kit. So for me, this is a sort of on the fence review. I like the Revolution Pro Sugar Lip Scrub and the fact it does remove dead and dry skin, but I'm not impressed with the fact it contains paraffin. I don't like the Lip Conditioner because it did absolutely nothing for my lips but instead irritated the skin where I am prone to cold sores, so I stopped using it immediately.

Have you tried anything new from Revolution Beauty recently that has
impressed you?

Misslyn Cosmetics Summer Vibes Collection

One way to capture my attention is bright and funky packaging and that is exactly how Misslyn Cosmetics has come into my hands. Described as being 'Never Boring' Misslyn Cosmetics come packaged inside some gorgeous retro pop-art design palettes which are described as being perfect for Summer.

I was kindly sent three different products to try from the range and I hate to admit it, but I haven't stopped using them since and I am pretty darn well impressed with.  Available from BeautyBay, the prices of these products are incredibly purse friendly, starting around £3 rising upwards to just £11.50.

The line of cosmetics features everything from Lip Liners and Mascara to Primers, Fixing Sprays and Glosses, there is a nice range of shades and textures.  The products I have been using are perfect for the Summer.

Glow For It Strobing Powder (£7.40) - Arriving in this cute book design compact, the Glow For It Powder is a beautiful Champagne shade which is said to be suitable for all skin tones.

With a slight shimmer from pearl particles, it can pop as much as you need to it, or as little depending on your preference.  I love that there is a mirror in the lid of the compact, making it useful for being on the go.

Make It Last Forever (£7.40) - is described as being a wonder weapon. A mattifying compact powder that helps to hide little imperfections on your skin.

I have combination oily skin and regularly touch up my makeup mid-afternoon and this powder, which is incredibly lightweight on the skin, is perfect for not only absorbing that excess oil but also ensuring your complexion remains looking incredible. Again, this little compact features a mirror, so it is perfect for having in your handbag and for being on the go.  For me, this shade works really well with my skin and I only ever feel the need to use it on my oily tzone.

With all of these amazing products comes The Face Shaping Brush (£10.45).  Packaged inside its very own plastic case to help keep its shape whilst on the move, I was surprised at how soft the bristles on this brush are.

Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Range

Without question, a brand which excites me right now is Touch In Sol, regular readers of my blog will without question be well informed as to who the brand are.  To recap, Touch In Sol has been designed to embrace the spirit of Korean innovation. Touch In Sol is fun, innovative and uses some of the most advanced technologies out there.

The Pretty Filter range has five products - Mattifying Oil Control Setting Mist, Light Up CC Cream, Makeup Lock Fixer Setting Spray, Pore Blur Primer and Dazzling Finish Powder and I have been using them for some time, you might have seen some of them appear on my Instagram stories too.

Pretty Filter Mattifying Oil Control Setting Mist - Described as being a refreshing, mattifying facial mist but because it comes from Touch In Sol, there is something quite amazing about it because it is so much more than a Mattifying Oil Control Mist. I have combination oily skin and in this sweltering heat, I will do all I can to ensure I avoid that mid-afternoon slide and this beauty is just the product.
Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Range
Using an innovative formula which turns from a mist-to-powder, it combines water, mineral powder and pigment which come together to absorb excess sebum which not only leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth to the touch, but it is also incredibly refreshing. It doesn't strip the skin, it isn't sticky or tacky, it does feel light when sprayed on to the skin and it does help to extend a refreshed finish to your look.

Pretty Filter Dazzling Finish Powder - Right now a Finish Powder is something I have gone back to using.  I tend to swap and change between a powder and a spray depending on what I am doing or where I am going.
Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Range
Designed to control oil, tone and illuminate your skin, the innovation with this powder comes with the use of a multi-gemstone combination (including Pearl, Amethyst, & Diamond powder) which works to not only reduce black circles but also to restore brightness and creates clarity. Further ingredients include Sea Buckthorn which soothes away skins irritations while adding a bit of natural sun protection.

Pretty Filter Make Up Lock Fixer Setting Spray - If you prefer a spray to a powder, which I sometimes do depending on my mood, then this Make up Lock Fixer Spray is one definitely worth trying.
Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Range
I am picky when it comes to setting sprays, I don't like any that are sticky or tacky when used or those which make my skin feel taut after using, as though I've covered my face in hairspray.  With this product it manages to leave your skin feeling hydrated and moisturised when used, it doesn't feel sticky and there is no strong scent of alcohol.

Pretty Filter Light It Up CC Cream SPF30 PA++ - In this weather, there is no need to cake on the foundation, well for me anyway.  What I want is something light, airy and a product which lets my skin breathe.

What I love about this cream is that it doesn't oxidise and turn my skin orange which some CC creams have done. On the skin, it is so light but at the same time, it is incredibly hydrating owing to it using a serum like formula which helps to create that perfect skin look whilst helping to achieve a natural looking glow.  I find that I need no more than two pumps of this on my beauty blender to cover my entire face

The final product is one of my favourites from the brand so far and that is the Pretty Filter Pore Blur Primer. No Poreblem happens to be one of the best primers I have ever used (review here) and this little addition to my stash.
Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Range
This Blur Primer has what is called a whipped cream texture, so not only is it lightweight on the skin, it also means a little goes a very long way.  Using ingredients such as Coconut oil, Orbignya Oleifera seed oil, Gardenia Flower Extract and Acai Oil to name just a few, this primer not only works to camouflage those imperfections, which for me is redness on my cheeks, but it also helps to control excess sebum.  If like me there are some days when you don't want a full face of makeup, then this primer can be used on its own or even with some tinted moisturiser.

If this sounds like a brand you want to get to know and a range of products you want to get your hands on, here is the good news because over on the MMCL Instagram page, you can do just that HERE
