ZIIP Halo Device

The ZIIP HALO Microcurrent Facial Device is one of my favourite devices, and it uses Dual Waveform Technology which is designed to give both immediate and long-lasting effects, it does this through the use of varying frequencies of both nanocurrent and microcurrent waves.

Black Friday 2023 Offers with CurrentBody
Microcurrent stimulates the muscles to contract and relax, causing an immediate lift and instant skin tightening, think more facial definition, blurred fine lines and that lifted appearance, delivering instant results that can be seen up to 72 hours.  Then with the Nanocurrent, it uses tiny electrical wavelengths to sync with the body’s natural current on a cellular level, resulting in younger-looking skin. Blur fine lines and wrinkles, fade scarring and even out your skin tone for long-term rejuvenation.

The app is fantastic and an excellent companion to your HALO. It offers a wide range of treatment options, from quick touch-ups to more intensive facials, all demonstrated by ZIIP founder Melanie Simon. You can tailor your routine by mixing and matching treatments to get the most out of your device or follow the structured treatment plans provided for extra guidance.

Alongside the included Electric Complex Gel, there are three additional gels available:
  • Silver for deep hydration,
  • Crystal for radiance, and
  • Golden for a collagen boost.
I am currently using the Silver Gel —it’s packed with hydrating ingredients like low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which deeply nourishes the skin while ensuring optimal conductivity for the device. It also contains soothing botanical extracts like aloe and cucumber, making it perfect for calming the skin during treatments. ZIIP's Silver Gel serves as both a conductive medium for microcurrent and nanocurrent facial treatments and as a potent skincare product that delivers multiple benefits. Its formulation is designed to enhance the efficacy of ZIIP devices while nourishing and revitalizing the skin.

A standout feature of the Silver Gel is its intense hydrating capability, primarily due to the inclusion of a sophisticated, low molecular weight hyaluronic acid sourced from Japan. This form of hyaluronic acid penetrates deeply into the skin, providing immediate and sustained hydration, resulting in a firmer and more supple complexion.

To soothe and calm the skin, the gel incorporates natural extracts such as cucumber and aloe. These ingredients are known for their anti-inflammatory and cooling properties, making the Silver Gel particularly suitable for individuals with sensitive or reactive skin.

Additionally, the gel contains finely crushed pearl, which promotes collagen production and enhances skin luminosity. This ingredient contributes to a brighter and more radiant complexion, addressing concerns related to dullness and uneven skin tone.

When used in conjunction with ZIIP's electrical currents, the Silver Gel facilitates up to 120% better absorption of these active ingredients, maximizing their effectiveness. This synergy not only optimizes the device's performance but also ensures that the skin receives comprehensive care, resulting in a hydrated, soothed, and radiant appearance.

So why the Halo Effect? Well as with all devices, you need to use them frequently and as best as you can, stick to the guidance given to get these named effects. In the case of this ZIIP Halo Device, that Halo Effect is what you can expect to see after 6 weeks of consistently using your device.

Priced at £379 but if you use the code RACHELZIIP you can save 10%

AD Inspired by Korea’s beauty heritage

Inspired by Korea’s beauty heritage
Korean skincare is no longer just a hype, it's a genuine and well-established part of the global beauty industry. Yet we sometimes forget that these popular products and routines have their roots in a centuries-old tradition. Indeed, many contemporary formulas draw inspiration from Korea's beauty heritage, whether in terms of ingredients used or an underlying philosophy.

Beauty in the Joseon era

During the Joseon dynasty (1392–1897), beauty was associated with tranquillity, simplicity, and a healthy glow. Make-up was minimal, the focus was on care and radiance. Rice water was used to brighten the skin, ginseng to promote vitality, and camellia oil to keep the skin soft and supple.

Today, more and more brands are returning to this timeless approach. Brands such as Beauty of Joseon combine traditional ingredients with modern science to pay homage to the heritage of Korean beauty.

Balance is the most important thing

Western skincare is often about getting fast results. Korean skincare is about balance, softness and consistency. The key to good skin care is understanding your skin's needs and catering to them accordingly.

COSRX, for example, bases its product philosophy on simplicity and effectiveness. There are no frills — just products that calm and target specific skin problems.

Natural ingredients with a legacy

The unique aspect of Korean beauty is the way ingredients are chosen: not because they are trendy, but because their effectiveness has been proven over generations. Consider ginseng, for example. Ginseng is used to boost energy levels and improve circulation in the skin. Rice extract is used to brighten the complexion. Propolis is used for hydration and repairing the skin. Charcoal and mung beans purify the skin without drying it out.

These ingredients are not an afterthought. They are the heart of the routine. This is a philosophy that remains strongly inspired by Korea's beauty heritage.

What can we take from that?

You don't have to follow an elaborate routine to benefit from that knowledge, which is great news. By choosing gentle products with carefully considered formulations, you can give your skin peace of mind and achieve great results.

Perhaps the real power of K- beauty lies in the fact that it enables you to slow down, care for your skin and connect with a tradition that has been practised for centuries.

CurrentBody LED Facemask - series 2

I absolutely love my beauty gadgets and over the past few years, since being introduced to the CurrentBody LED Mask, I've become a bit of an obsessive with the mask. Then incomes the new launch of the CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2, I was not only thrilled but intrigued and excited to see how something so amazing could be improved.

Read on for more plus an amazing discount!

As I noted previously, for many of us, the last few years have taken its toll in one way or another and I am all for using and doing anything and everything I can to sort my skin out. I caught Covid, I have been left with long-Covid, made up of fatigue, very little sense of taste and smell and one of the biggest changes was to my skin - where it used to just be an issue of combination/oily it is now really dry and often bright red and angry, none of which is a reaction to any skincare I use because after many years of using a lot, the only ingredient my skin cannot tolerate is Kaolin Clay, so I stay clear of it as much as I can. The best improvement to my skin and one I have really noticed, more when I stop using the mask, is the introduction of an LED Mask.

The CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask: Series 2 is described as being an LED face mask with revolutionary technology for visible anti-ageing and there are some difference between the original mask and the newer one, shown below.
CurrentBody LED Facemask - series 2
Taking not that there is at least four major upgrades - the redesigned head straps, the much-improved fit and shape, almost twice as many LED lights, and, possibly the biggest upgrade, the addition of deeper near-infrared light.

The Series-2 Updates

Starting with the update design of the mask, perhaps the biggest change for those who are familiar with the original mask.  The Revamped Best-Fit flexible liquid silicone shape, this was tested on thousands of faces for maximum coverage and comfort including upgraded full lip and nose coverage.  So now you have a mask which fits to your face, rather than a mask you fit to your face and this is also where the newer multiway head straps become important because not only are they much wider, but they also offer better support, the original mask having just the one strap.

With the original mask, I felt more comfortable sitting on the sofa or lazing on the bed to wear it, I now feel much better with Series 2 being able to wander around the mask without the worry it would fall off.

LED Lights

The most exciting change for those who really like to go into detail comes with the LED lights. The Series 2 has an incredible 236 bulbs (compared to the 132 in Series 1) and offers three clinically researched wavelengths. The first two wavelengths—633nm and near-infrared at 830nm—are found in the original mask, but the biggest change is the addition of deep near-infrared at 1072nm, a wavelength rarely seen in LED treatments.

As explained in a previous post, CurrentBody states that this device has been made to medical device directives and delivers the same clinically-proven wavelengths as professional salon machines and it uses both red light and near infra-red light.
  • Red light (633nm) - stimulates the production of new collagen, calms redness and evens the skin tone
  • Near infra-red (830nm) - penetrates and works beneath the skin’s surface to boost circulation, improve blood flow and boosts oxygen to the skin’s cells.
These two wavelengths work below the skin’s surface to stimulate the natural rejuvenation process, creating a complexion that is visibly glowing and noticeably healthier looking. With the inclusion of 16 deep near-infrared LEDs (1072nm) target areas where signs of ageing are more pronounced (under the eyes and around the mouth), penetrating up to 10mm into the hypodermis, stimulating collagen production deep under the skin for visible skin renewal.

The wavelength in nanometers generally indicates how deeply the light penetrates the skin. For example, blue light works on the surface at around 450nm, red light reaches a bit deeper at 650nm, and near-infrared goes even further at 800–900nm. The 1072nm depth of the Series 2 can penetrate up to 10mm, helping to stimulate collagen production more efficiently and effectively.

Review

After a few weeks of using the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2, I’m absolutely love it. As expected, it is really comfortable on the face, it needs just 10 minutes of your time a day, and my skin is already showing a noticeable improvement in so-much-as there is a lot less redness around my cheeks and chin and my skin looks less angry and annoyed.  Around my eyes there is some notable difference in the lines which has begun to creep in, something I notice more than anyone else.  Of course with this mask there is no downtime, it is completely painless, there is no side effects, and you only need to set aside 10 minutes to use.

When I use my LED Mask, I pair it with the  CurrentBody Skin Hydrogel Face Masks or CurrentBody Skin Green Tea Serum, as directed to do with the original LED Mask and it is a great serum to use.  What I am really looking forward to is seeing how my skin changes over the next few months as I continue to use the mask.

The mask is charged via a USB-C Charging cable, so you will need to charge it for a few hours when you first get it, but once it is fully charged, you can, if you wish move around freely whilst wearing it as you are not tethered to a wall and a plug socket, though the lights are really bright so it is hard to see anywhere other than in front of you. Once those 10 minutes are up, the mask will beep and turn itself off and you’re done for the day.

Another inclusion this time is that each Series 2 mask includes paperwork and a Veritace® NFC card, confirming the mask's rigorous testing and high standards.

Price

The CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2 is priced at £399—£100 more than the original, but in my opinion, it is worth every penny.  However, if you use my code RACHELCB you will currently get 20% off and this code will also work on all CurrentBody products.

You can find the CurrentBody LED Mask Series 2 here.
