Polaar Lapland Gift Set

The Polaar Lapland Giftset is described as being 'The ultimate set for the sensitive skin'. As a brand, they have an amazing story to tell which I shared in this post. I really like a brand which has an amazing back story and their Christmas Gift Sets are a great introduction to what, as a brand they stand for.
Polaar Lapland Gift Set
The Lapland Gift set features three products - a travel sized Genuine Lapland cream and full size hand cream and body balm, it is currently on offer with Lookfantastic for £39* but has an overall value of £66. This Lapland range is powered by 3 arctic berries: arctic raspberries, cranberries plus blackberries and they are very rich in vitamins A, C and E and provide antioxidant, protective and nourishing properties to our formulas.

The Set Contains:

  • Genuine Lapland Moisturizing Body Milk 200ml - within this Body Milk, 98% of ingredients are of natural origin and it not only pampers and protects but it also repairs dry and sensitive skin. It has a wonderfully rich and creamy texture that penetrates instantly into the skin without leaving an oily film.
  • Genuine Lapland Hand Cream 50ml - within this hand cream, 96% of the ingredients are of natural origin. I am sure we have all been using a lot of hand cream recently and this is absolutely beautiful to use.  With its fine and creamy texture which wraps your hands in a delicate and protective coat, I love that it is instantly absorbed without leaving an oily film.
  • Genuine Lapland Cream 50ml - Within this cream 95% of the ingredients are of natural origin. Described as being more of a melting ointment than a cream, its cocooning texture is enriched with raspberry, blackberry and Arctic cranberry extracts which together nourish, repair and protect the skin.
All of these products within this set are suitable for use on all of the family, not something every brand has to offer, so for me, this stands them apart from anything else that there is out there right now.
Polaar Lapland Gift Set
As you can see, this is a wonderful collection of products which would be perfect for anyone in your circle of friends or family that you still need to grab a gift for.

Aldi Lacura CBD Beauty Collection

Who doesn't love the middle aisle in Aldi? On many occasions I have gone in to pick up specific items, usually Gin, only to leave with a whole lot more. Known for their dupes of skincare, makeup and candles, the Aldi Lacura range is really good value for money and over time, I have managed to pick up some brilliant products, namely these Glycolic Cleansing Pads which give another brand a real run for their money.  New to my collection has been the new Lacura Hemp Range which I am sharing with you today.
Aldi-CBD-Range
The new Lacura range includes a CBD Facial Soothing Concentrate Serum (£4.99), a Hemp Body Butter (£4.99) and a Hemp Hand Cream (£1.49) and ive been using them since they arrived a while back and I have to say, I really like them, especially the Body Butter. CBD is seemingly the ingredient every brand wants in their skincare and it is being featured in a lot of products right now and it is said to help reduce inflammation, calm redness, moisturise and increase hydration.

The first product I added to my routine was the CBD Facial Serum. It comes packaged inside a really luxe green glass bottle with a pipette dispenser - which at £4.99 is incredibly impressive to have. The serum is a clear see through liquid and texture wise, it is quite runny, so with a pipette dispenser, it is much easier to apply. Without being greasy on application, what I really like is how smooth to the touch my skin is after using it.
Aldi-CBD-Range
Said to be perfect for all skin types, this serum contains 99% natural ingredients which blows my mind! Two of those ingredients you need to know about are of course cannabis sativa seed oil but also oregano oil. Together, these two oils are said to target inflammation and increase hydration all while providing anti-oxidants.

The Body Butter, which I absolutely loved from the first use, is everything you need in a body butter. It is thick, it is luxurious and there is no greasy film left after using.
Aldi-CBD-Range
Again, as with the serum, this butter also features Cannabis Sativa Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and Soyabean Oil, so with those as ingredients you can just imagine how divine a product this is.  As I have been suffering with an ankle injury for a few years now, I have to wear a support a lot of the time, so my skin on my lower leg and foot is always feeling dry. So I started to use this body butter, slathering it on, after showering to my legs and it is just divine to use. Not only does it melt onto the skin with little effort, it also has helped with a lot of the dry skin where the support bandage sits.

The final product is the Lacura Hemp Hand Cream and right now, given the amount of times I am washing my hands and sanitizing them, I am rapidly making my way through my hand cream stash.
Aldi-CBD-Range
Enriched with Hemp Seed and Sunflower Oil, this hand cream is said to help nourish dry, rough and chapped hands.  The formula of this cream is quite thick, so you only need a really small amount to massage into your hands. When you do use it, again there is no greasy film left behind, it does begin to absorb as it comes into contact with your skins temperature and there is a slight earthy scent to it, which I really like.

As a collection, you have probably guessed I am really impressed with it. Aldi skincare all features the leaping bunny, so it is cruelty free.  The next time you are in your local Aldi, this is a collection worth looking out for, especially if you are unsure about CBD in skincare, or you want to give something a try without sending more than you need too. Plus, you can also buy it online right here.

Subscent Fragrances - Try before you Buy!

when it comes to buying a new fragrance, be it for yourself or someone else as a gift, I am one of those people who will never purchase something based on a spritz in a store. For me, that fragrance has to be worn within familiar surroundings so I can get a real sense as to how it will work with my skin, this is where sample sizes and sites such as Subscents are a great discovery.
Subscent Fragrances - Try before you Buy!
Subscents is a website which stocks fragrance samples from some of the best and well known perfumes and aftershaves from across the globe and I was asked whether I would be willing to try some of the fragrances the site had to offer, so I readily agreed. I love the concept of people able to try before I buy especially with fragrances.

As a brand Subscents was created back in March of this year, just as Covid took its hold and Lockdown began, but rather than put everything on hold, the guys behind the brand decided it was almost a now or never journey and it became a reality. They know that not everyone has £100 here and there to splash out on a high end fragrance and for some even those £30-£40 bottles are becoming more of a luxury than they ever have before, so in an effort to make fragrances more affordable, they simply decrease the size of the bottle you purchase it in, so by making the biggest designer fragrances available in smaller quantities, the cost of buying them becomes cheaper for their customers. The sizes offered at 2ml, 5ml, 10ml, 20ml and of course the option to purchase a full sized offering, but by breaking them down into smaller vials, if you decide that fragrance isn't for you, instead of wasting a whole lot of money, instead it costs as little as £4.50 rising upwards to £20+

The website stocks a number of different brands from the likes of Acqua di Palma and Byredo to Tom Ford and Guerlain to name just a few.  I was kindly sent four 10ml vials to try of different fragrances and they are:

Creed Aventus for Her - Sitting in the Chypre Fruity family, this fragrance is one I had expected to like a lot more than I do. It opens with the top notes of Green Apple, Pink Pepper, Indonesian Patchouli, Calabrian Bergamot which helps this fragrance to hit the fruity opening before the heart notes of Bulgarian and Turkish Roses, Indian Sandalwood, Styrax and Musk come in to being and for me, they are too strong and overpower the scent for the base notes of Peach, Cassis, Lilac, Amber, and Ylang Ylang to comfortably come through. It is a nice fragrance, but definitely isn't one I would rush out to purchase for myself.

Maison Margiela Replica Bubble Bath - If ever there was a fragrance you could refer too as comfort in a bottle, it is absolutely this. Just stunning. It has top notes of crushed leaves and freesia. which just remind me of my gran's porch, freesia being one of her favourite florals, then we have middle notes of Indian sambac jasmine and Egyptian jasmine delicately dance with tuberose and rose from Grasse which, given Jasmine is my favourite note in fragrances, you can imagine her perfect I find this one and then with the sharp, intense base notes of peach, cedar wood and oak moss, you have a fragrance which I just want to spray everywhere - the sofas, the bed sheets, my freshly laundered pile of clothes as well as myself, it is just divine.

Maison Margiela Replica Lazy Sunday Morning - Again, another stunning fragrance and one which is every bit of its name, think freshly laundered bed linen, for which there is nothing better than fresh clean sheets to get into bed and never want to leave. This fragrance has top notes of pear accord and ambrette seeds, so it opened quite delicately without making much of an entrance, but the middle notes of iris accord, rose petals and orange flower bring to life the whole fragrance which is quite intense given the base notes of white wood and creamy musk give it that ultimate punch, letting the florals shine through with a hint of powderiness. Its a warm fragrance which envelopes you in that hug.

Tom Ford White Patchouli - This is another Chypre Floral fragrance and I really didn't like it at all. It is rare I find a fragrance I dislike (Thierry Mugler - all of them) but this is one I just couldn't get on with.  It has Top notes are White Flowers, Coriander, Peony and Bergamot which for me I didn't like, there was a slight touch of Coriander but given Bergamot is usually a strong note, it was barely there for me. The middle notes are Ambrette, Rose and Jasmine are all notes I absolutely love in a fragrance but again for me, they have all been overshadowed by the base notes of Patchouli, Incense and Woody Notes. It is possibly a fragrance more suited to the warmer months than the colder ones, which in turn might make it less cloying.
Subscent Fragrances - Try before you Buy!
As you can see, there is definitely two fragrances that I would add to my collection without hesitation and both of them are Maison Magiela Replica scents, neither of the fragrances I had tried before and the same for the brand, whereas I have fragrances from both Tom Ford and Creed already within my collection!

For me, the concept of this website has worked out really well, of four fragrances, I have managed to find two to add to my Wishlist without having to spend a lot of money to make the choice.  If there is a fragrance which has caught your attention, but you are on the fence about it, sites like this one from Subscent Fragrances could just be that bank balance saviour you need!
