How Much Work Does It Take To Move Abroad?

The idea of living in another country can be a very nice one. Having the chance to break away from the politics, economy, and social issues found in your old home can sound lovely, while some people will simply want the chance to live somewhere with a different climate. Whether you’re trying to escape your government or are looking for some sunshine, though, you will still have to do loads of work to get yourself moved to another country. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring some of the steps that have to be taken to handle a task like this successfully with a whole host of hints and tips.

Finding The New Place
Property hunting is quite an easy job under normal circumstances, and you need only look for an estate agent to help you out. When you’re looking for places in different countries, though, you will have to deal with the challenge of finding properties and attending viewings from hundreds of miles away. This will mean that you will have to plan everything as well as you can before you embark on this journey.

There are a few different places you can look when you’re trying to find a place to live overseas. International real estate agents can be found in most cities and towns, giving you access to a wealth of resources that can make it easier to handle your hunt. Alongside these services, you can also find loads of websites that are dedicated to helping people to buy properties in different countries, with helpful guides to local do's and don'ts which become more important in some areas than they are in others.

Buying The New Place
Once you’ve found a property you like, it will be time to start the process of buying it. This can be tricky when you’re trying to buy a place in a different country, as the rules and laws that come with the process are likely to be very different in your new home. You will need to spend some time learning about the process you will have to go through to buy your new home, but you can also get the help of a legal professional to make it a little bit easier.

Alongside struggling to understand the rules that you have to follow, it can also be hard to secure funding when you’re buying a place in a different country. You will need a specialist mortgage for this, and you can use a mortgage calculator for your home loans to figure out how much this will all cost. You may have to jump through additional hoops when you’re trying to get a mortgage in a different country. You may also wish to speak to a finance professional with specialist knowledge when it comes to buying property abroad, like Simon Conn (Read More...), so that you get as much information as possible and feel more confident that you understand enough about how the finances will work when you go ahead and buy your property.

Moving Overseas
Moving to a new country can be a daunting and often overwhelming process. People don’t realize quite how much work they’re going to have to do before they get started, and this can result in a lot of trouble down the line. It’s always worth making sure that you have considered all of your belongings before you decide to make a move like this, working to ensure that you don’t find yourself unable to get them to your new country.

There are loads of companies out there that can handle overseas moves. It’s always worth going with a company like this rather than trying to handle it all by yourself, saving you from the pain of trying to move large and bulky items across oceans and continents. Extremely large items, like cars and pianos, may have to be sold or given away before you make a move like this, as items like this can cost more to ship than it costs to simply buy a new one.

It can be hard to figure out where you want to live. A lot of people go through this process, only to find that they don’t have the resources to find success when they are trying to improve their life overseas. Of course, though, with the right time and effort, it should be nice and easy to take these steps and embrace your new home.

The Bodyshop Vanilla Pumpkin Collection

As much as I love Autumn, I am not on the PSL bandwagon, infact I hate pumpkins - the smell, the texture and the taste, for me it is up there with Marzipan (devils food). But... I was kindly gifted a few products from the Vanilla Pumpkin collection by The Bodyshop* and hmmm... how can two fragrances I dislike be so good together?
The Bodyshop Vanilla Pumpkin Collection
This range is part of one of The Bodyshop seasonal ranges and it isn't one I would have picked up given my reasons above, but then I had never tried or smelt it either and a good friend of mine simply adores the range, so we gave it a try and I loved it, so much so I had to buy another bottle of the Shower Gel last week.

There are three products within the range - The Shower Gel, The Body Butter and a Hand Cream and having tried them, I can now see why they are so popular.  Like all Bodyshop Shower Gel, this one is creamy, it is thick and it is luscious and it smells not at all like I expected too.
The Bodyshop Vanilla Pumpkin Collection
As you can see, the Shower Gel comes packaged in limited edition seasonal packaging which is said to have been inspired by the traditions of Central and South America’s Dia de los Muertos.

Infused with handpicked vanilla from Madagascar and scented with a cosy, autumnal pumpkin fragrance, vanilla from Madagascar, and hints of tonka bean, hazelnut and maple syrup. This for me, gives a sweet almost toffee like scent which you can't help but just adore.  In the shower, the scent lingers in the air as it is dispersed with the steam from my hot shower and it is such a cosy scent that it is perfect for Autumn, though I would happily use it all year round.

The Body Butter was also a lovely surprise and it is a product I have used every single day after showering.  As with the shower gel, it too features the limited edition season packaging which is inspired by the traditions of Central and South America's Dia de Los Muertos.
The Bodyshop Vanilla Pumpkin Collection
Again, the scent is one I didn't expect to like never mind adore and as well as being infused with vanilla extract from Madagascar, it also features handcrafted Community Fair Trade shea butter, Community Fair Trade babassu oil and Community Fair Trade sesame seed oil. Plus, it also features that sweet, warm, baked pumpkin scent with hints of hazelnut caramel, maple syrup and almond milk just like the shower gel.

On the skin, this body butter is incredibly rich without being greasy, it is nourishing and hydrating and it leaves the most wonderful sweet scent on the skin.  It absorbs really easily, quicker still if you use it on the skin as soon as you are out of a hot shower or bath.

This collection was quite the eye opener for me, I really wasn't expecting to like it never mind love it. Having wrongly assumed it would smell like wet pumpkin and it doesn't at all!  This is a limited edition collection, so if it is one you want to try for yourself, be quick because it will disappear!

Priced for the Vanilla Pumpkin Collection start at £5 via The Bodyshop*.

Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist

If you follow me on social media, it might have caught your attention that my sleep pattern is a little disrupted. I go through bouts of being awake in the early hours of the morning and nothing I'm going to do is sending me back to sleep.  I was kindly sent one of the new additions to the Olverum Collection - Restful Sleep Pillow Mist to try.
Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist

I am a big fan of Olverum as a brand, the bath oil being a big favourite of mine. Whenever I have a cold on its way, I hop into the bath with Olverum Bath Oil and it works it magic to battle with the cold to make me feel a whole lot better, same with the onset of a headache and if I am feeling a tad grouchy.
"Awaken relaxed and refreshed with the Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist, a fine mist that imbues linens and spaces with a serene and tranquil natural fragrance, helping to promote a peaceful and restful sleep".

Sleep is one of the most important things you need in your life, as you sleep your mind and body recover, relax and regenerate.  I am a horrendous sleeper of late. Gone are those long weekend lie-ins which saw me getting a good 12-14 hours sleep, it is more likely to be 5-6 hours now if I am lucky.  To that end, I will try absolutely anything that is calming and relaxing before bed time.

This is where Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist comes in and is quite the product to be using. Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist

The Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist features a unique blend of soothing essential oils which are natural, vegan and cruelty-free. Those essential oils include bergamot which is chosen because because it helps the body to relax as well as to improve the mood, then we have Amyris which is great for calming and helping to relieve anxiety, Geranium which helps to ensure a disturbance-free transition into the calming, restorative second stage of sleep that is really important, Chamomile oil helps to maintain and extend the period of deep rest, which ensures you awaken looking and feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and then finally we have lavender which helps to promote deeper sleep.

Putting all of these ingredients together gives you quite the product with a whole host of benefits which includes:

Key Benefits:

  • Helps promote a restful sleep
  • A fine mist with a serene natural fragrance
  • Works to evoke sensations of calm and comfort
  • Features a soothing blend of essential oils, including bergamot, amyris and lavender
  • A natural, vegan and cruelty-free formula
To use the spray, the advice is to use it immediately prior to sleep or relaxation. Then you need to spritz just two pumps of Restful Sleep Pillow Mist into the air, or you can spray it directly onto linens from a distance of around 30cm.  Once the Mist has been dispersed around your room or onto your linens, what I have found is the scent, which is similar too but not the same as, the bath oil is a fragrance that I have come to recognise as relaxing and one that does help calm and soothe.  Taking the time to properly appreciate the essential oils is really important because that is what makes this so beneficial.

For me, this pillow mist has been a delight to use. Sleep comes easily for me when I use it and I tend to sleep for longer periods of time. I've taken the time to use it a few times a week since it arrived to see what happens both when I do and don't use it, using it definitely helps to relax and calm, better so when I have used it with the Bath Oil to create quite the routine.  If I don't use it, sleep does come but it has been patchy and not a great sleep.

The Olverum Restful Sleep Pillow Mist is on sale via SpaceNK for £25 right here* and if getting that restful, peaceful sleep is an issue for you, then giving this mist a try might just help!
