A Guide To Wearing Flat Shoes

The morning after a night out in your favourite pair of strappy stilettos, and you’ve probably sworn never to wear them again. The blisters, the pain, yet when the next night out comes around you just can’t resist. Flat shoes however, have always been associated with comfort – but could they finally be party ready? Whilst, unfortunately, it’s still not appropriate to head out in your fluffy slippers, Daniel Footwear suggest that shoes, such as Melissa shoes and flat designer sandals are parting the way for party flats.
A Guide To Wearing Flat Shoes

Embellished sandals
Summer comes hand in hand with pastel colours, embroidery and embellishment – and your shoes are no exception. Embellished sandals are your summer alternative to heels. In fact, many A-listers have even walked the red carpet in the sparkly flats. The worst thing about them is that they can only be worn in the summer — step out in them in the winter and prepare for some strange looks and exceptionally cold toes!

Whether you’re sipping cocktails in Marbella or in your local beer garden, they’re perfect for channelling that beach-to-bar look, while their added glitz adds a dash of glamour that every night out needs. Keep the rest of your outfit formal or smart-casual at the very least — wearing them with jeans is too casual for a night out with friends. Instead, choose feminine dresses and skirts in cool colours and delicate prints.

Backless loafers
Whilst heels in the workplace can make you look professional and smart, we all know they can also be extremely uncomfortable, especially if you’re on your feet all day. Backless loafers are a great alternative to heels for around the workplace. Originally made popular by Gucci, other brands have since replicated the trend, making the loafer one of this season’s must-haves.

These designer-inspired flats eliminate the chance of blisters and keep your feet cool. Because of their formal style, they’re the perfect addition to your work-wear wardrobe. Choose a black pair and wear with plain-coloured culottes and a chic sleeveless blouse.

You can also wear them as part of your off-duty style — a light-coloured loafer works great with loose-fitting, light wash ripped jeans and an easy t-shirt. Bring the look together with a chic tailored blazer for a look that successfully bridges the gap between smart and casual.

The pointed flat
The ballet pump has been a popular choice amongst women for years now – for comfort and casual fashion. From work to play, is there anything this super-versatile shoe can’t do?

Apparently not. The pointed pump is the ideal choice for a night out, as it is not just comfortable — it’s this season’s must-have shape. For extra evening glamour, choose an embellished or lace-up pair to add detail to your look.

SKECHERS Adorbs

As the weather is still really very cold and I am not yet able to wear my Fitflops, I am still living quite comfortably in my warm snug, fur-lined boots which keep my as a snug as a bug in a rug after a hug, stop me sliding on that pesky black ice and wear well with my skinny jeans and leggings.

Skechers are a brand that I really really like. My trainers are Skechers and now my boots, Skechers Adorbs from Brantano are also made by Skechers. Grey in colour, these boots have a gum rubber flat heel and are pull on boots, so no pesky zips snagging on your tights and leggings.  On the back of the heel of the boot is a stitched tab with the brand name.

Made of faux suede and in an unusual grey colour, the faux fur lining is incredibly snug and the hiding underneath that cuff is woven, a grey pattern which is almost geometric in design which you can just about see under the faux fur, as these are ankle boots there isn't the option to roll the fur up to have calf length boots, but it does add a nice little extra design to the boots.

For those like me with flat feet, a bit of comfort is a must when it comes to shoes and boots. As much as I would love to wear Louboutins and Jimmy Choo, I like my flat boots and shoes, walking like a hippo on rollerskates is not attractive. So inside the boots is a memory foam cushioned sole and it is so comfortable, I never want to take them off.

At just £62, these boots cost less than half that of other brands (from which I have owned boots from) and these are such fantastic value for money.  The heel doesn't sag in the rain, my feet are kept warm the entire time I wear them, so there is no need to buy extra thick socks. They are comfortable, they look great with jeans, leggings or skirts with tights and perfect for this horrible cold weather.

My Super affordable AW15 Shoe and Boot Wishlist

It's that time of year when Summer has come to an end and all the Autumn/Winter clothes are being put out in store and the sales have started. You only have to look out of your window today to see how utterly horrid the weather is right now.

Now I love Autumn, it is one of my favourite seasons, leaving work to go home just as dusk begins, earlier closing of the curtains and more of an excuse to light candles and be snug.  One thing I do love is looking for chunky knits, leggings and boots with the latter being one of my favourite items to buy. Autumn footwear is so much better than Summer, no manky toes on show for one, and I have so many pairs of shoes and boots that I want to buy.

I like two things about shoes or boots - they need to be wide fit and they must be fairly flat.  I am not a fan of heels and having flat feet find heels a nightmare to spend the day in.  So if my boots or shoes have any sort of heel at all, I keep a pair of flats with me at work or in my bag just in case.

There are quite a few places I like to buy shoes from online - ASOS, Shoetique, New Look and sometimes TK Maxx who are great when it comes to brands and decent sizing.  So Biker Boots, Knee High Boots, Cowboy Boots and Emu Boots usually all in black are what I need and here are the ones I currently have my eye on!

Naturally, I am a tad obsessed with my Emu Boots which I never thought I would like as I hated Ugg Boots, but I do love mine and ideally need to replace them.   When it comes to Knee High Boots, I like rider style boots and one which are of a more military style, so for this Rieker Boots are perfect and they go with all outfits I am likely to wear.

When it comes to shorter boots, I really like laced boots or ankle boots which are a little bit different and both ASOS and New Look have some amazing boots in right now.

I am also a fan of Ballerina style pumps, especially when I am at work as they are much more comfortable and I have some similar to the Adesso shoes which are Leopard print and the Lotus Black ones which are from TK Maxx, both exceptionally comfy and both work well with trousers, jeans, skirts of dresses.

Emu Australia Boots Charlotte Black

Now the frost is settling and we have threats of snow, it is time to dust off the warm snug boots and hide my toes until the Spring.

Shoetique have an amazing range of boots to choose from and I finally managed to settle on the most amazing boots from Emu, infact I have wanted them for ages and ages but have never bought them.  Let me introduce you to the Emu Australia Boots Charlotte** which I opted for in Black, the other colour option is Chocolate.

I can't even begin to tell you how amazing these boots are they are just fantastic, so snug and warm and perfect for this weather.

As calf length boots, they can be styled with everything and best of all they are totally waterproof! So they can be worn under and over your jeans, leggings, with a dress, with a skirt and they just look so good.

These boots feature a black suede upper which is built with a waterproof membrane and sealed seems which ensure no water gets in. The really thick sheepskin linings provide a lot of warmth and make them extremely comfortable to wear, almost like walking on springs they are so soft and bouncy. The sheepskin is also said to naturally remove moisture which in turn keeps your feet and your boots smelling fresh. The sole of the boot is texturised rubber which gives it a good old grip on those frosty slippery surfaces and is completely flat.

These boots are easy to pull on and off and have the Emu logo on back of heel and button straps for added detail and I absolutely love them.  They have been perfect for this freezing cold weather and my feet have been as snug as a bug.

If you are looking for a new pair of boots, then get yourself over to Shoetique because they have an amazing sale on right now!
