Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream

I absolutely love Jurlique as a brand and have featured them quite a few times, infact their Rosewater Balancing Mist is one of my absolute favourite products. New to the brand is the Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream which I have been using for well over a month now and I absolutely love it. Described as being a powerful anti-ageing moisturiser which targets the appearance of fine lines and dull skin to deeply hydrate skin and rejuvenate its youthful glow.

The Herbal Recovery Range is all about minimising dullness and protecting the skin from the first visible signs of ageing and with the addition of a day cream, this is quite an extensive range of products and one which is quite exciting.

The Herbal Recovery Advanced Day Cream features a blend of over 18 botanicals, the star ingredient is called Japanese Cedar Bud extract which is said to help give you a visibly younger-looking complexion. You will also find Lavender, Licorice Root Extract and Rosemary leaf extract to name just a few more ingredients.

What I love about this cream is firstly the scent. As soon as the lid is remove, there is a lovely scent of Rose intermixed with Lavender and the scent is so fresh. On the skin the cream is incredibly luxurious and smooth. To use, you simply warm a pearl sized amount between the fingertips and gently massage onto the face, neck and décolletage, avoiding the eye area, but there is a cream for that within this range (here).  Once on the skin and massaged in, there is no greasy or tackiness to the skin, little sign the cream has been there until you touch your face, then what you find is incredibly soft and smooth skin.

Having used this cream daily, what I have noticed is the difference in hydration. I have combination skin which tends to lean to the oily side but it also means I have dry patches of skin, usually on both cheeks and between my eyebrows, so my skin always needs a little extra TLC and this cream has made a whole lot of difference.  If you are a fan of Jurlique then this is one you definitely need to try.

The cream, which is available now retails for £37.

The top 5 best Vitamin C serums in 2017

There are many beauty products on the market today that flood mainstream media through social media channels, television ads, and magazine layouts. There are even a plethora of ads and marketing campaigns that are rampant all over the web. Ads, social media posts, and marketing campaigns can entice you to purchase a product without much thought to the actual product and how it will benefit you. It can be a challenge as a consumer to find the best products at the right price that will work best for you. This article will focus on the top best vitamin c serums on the market in 2017 so that you can make a better informed decision on your purchase. For additional information, be sure to educate yourself with some vitamin c serum reviews.
The top 5 best Vitamin C serums in 2017

Radha Beauty. This serum offers 20% clinical grade vitamin C and 10% hyaluronic acid. Combined these ingredients help your skin look younger and feel healthier. If you are prone to wrinkles or age spots, after using this product consistently, you will notice that these signs of aging have decreased. If you are not yet concerned about ageing but do have other skin worries such as acne, this serum can help decrease inflammation and acne scarring. If you are in the market for a great product that is budget-friendly as well as cruelty-free, the Radha Beauty serum is a good choice. You can purchase with confidence as they offer a 180 day 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Majestic Pure Vitamin C Serum. This product boasts that it is also an antioxidant and will provide younger looking skin after consistent use. This product consists of 20% Vitamin C as well as hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, and ferulic acid. While this product is a favourite among many consumers for decreasing the signs of ageing and making skin appear healthier, the smell of the serum can be a bit overpowering. In addition, applying the serum can be a bit tricky as the substance is a thin liquid. The best way to apply is to use a sponge or cotton swab for even application.

TruSkin Naturals Vitamin C-Plus, anti ageing treatment. A favourite among many, this serum offers a milder smell than others listed and therefore is probably the most commonly used. This product offers 20% Vitamin C that comes from sodium ascorbyl phosphate. Because of this, this product is often quite a bit less expensive than competitors. This product is vegan, cruelty-free, paraben free, and organic.

Kleem Organics Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum. This serum has been noted to cause irritation on skin that is not used to using vitamin C. If you have used it before however, this could be a great choice for you as it offers 20% Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, Vitamin E, ferulic acid, aloe vera, and witch hazel, all of which have great impact on healthy skin.

SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Broad-range antioxidant. Perhaps one of the most expensive items on our list, this serum is made with a water-base and has been researched for years. This product can offer the rejuvenation of ageing skin and the prevention of many skin problems. The product contains 10% L-ascorbic acid which is considered to be a pure form of Vitamin C. Because of it’s potency, it works very well with only a small amount applied to the skin. While on the expensive side, it can last a very long time and the results are worthwhile.

Optiat's New Organic and Hemptastic Collection

A brand that I loved from the off has been Optiat, I featured them here on my blog. The name Optiat stands for One Persons Trash Is Anothers Treasure and having created some pretty fantastic coffee scrubs, William and Anna Brightman, who are brother and sister, have a new range of products to share.
Optiat-Hemp-Mask
Optiat-Hemp-Mask
Optiat-Hemp-Mask
The hemp face mask collection are a 100% natural, certified organic face masks which are made from unloved hemp husks. They come packaged in slimline vials and there are three masks within the range - Purifying and Exfoliating Clay Mask, Nourishing and Hydrating Clay Mask with the final one being a Men's Exfoliating Clay Mask. I was kindly given the Purifying and Exfoliating Clay Mask which is ideal for combination and oily skin and it comes with the following description:
Deep cleanse your way to a clearer, more radiant complexion. English Hemp Husks gently polish away dead skin cells, while Bentonite and Activated Charcoal draw out toxins. Skin-loving super-foods Chlorella and Kelp brighten your skin, boost cell renewal and fight the signs of ageing.
This antioxidant rich face mask uses marine super-foods which include organic kelp and chorella which work to brighten the skin and help prevent against premature ageing. This particular mask is also infused with juniper and eucalyptus oils.  Juniper is a really good oil for helping to relax and ease tension as well as being really good for oily skin.  Eucalytus oil has a lot of properties but in a product such as helping to calm skin eruptions and clear congested skin.

To use this mask you need just a teaspoon of the powder with some warm water to make a paste.  Then gently massage the paste onto the face, using an upward circular motion and as always, be gentle around the eye area.  Once it is on the skin, leave for up to ten minutes and then rinse off using warm water and a damp cloth.   The mask, as it contains Eucalyptus it smells just incredible and it leaves the skin feeling so clean and fresh feeling and ive had no reactions or irritations since using it.  Again, Optiat have really impressed me!

The three masks will retail for £17.95. To find out more about Optiat, the story behind the brand and more information on these amazing masks and coffee scrubs, everything you need to know is right here.

Sönd Skincare

Sönd are a UK based skincare brand which creates their products over in Germany and work with top silica scientists and skincare specialists across Europe. I came across Sönd some time ago thanks to my love of beauty boxes.
Sönd Skincare
Sönd believe everyone can improve their skin with silica as follows:

  • Collagen production – silica sits inside collagen acting as glue to provide the connective tissue with strength, flexibility and resilience.
  • Water retention – with it’s ability to create bonds with protein molecules (collagen & keratin) and polysaccharides which, are responsible for the skin’s natural ability to hydrate and retain water.
  • Soothe irritated skin – as the silica can form strong bonds with free radicals, reducing inflammation.
  • Improves the blood vessels’ ability to deliver oxygen and nutrients to skin cells by increasing their elasticity and firmness.
The first product I have been using is the newest to the brand - Sönd Gentle Daily Cleanser (£22). Described as being a gentle but effective cleansing cream which contains both Shea and Cocoa butter which work together to lift off impurities from your skin without stripping away essential moisture, alongside the extracts of chamomile and marigold which will soothe and calm your skin due to their natural antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties. To use the cleanser you really need at most between three and four pumps of the cleanser for massaging onto your face and neck and then once you have massaged it on, you rinse and remove using a muslin cloth or whatever your preference might be.
Sönd Skincare
What I really like about this cleanser is that it has a pump action dispenser which means minimal waste of the product and that it works whether your skin is wet or dry. My preference is to use it on dry skin, as I do similar products and given there is a very subtle floral fragrance, my skin isn't left feeling tight or dry after using.

The second product is one I have tried before but as a sample (here) and it is the Hydrating Face Spray (£24). I am a huge fan of face mists/sprays and insist that there is always one to be used whether I am at home or at work. This one from Sönd is described as being "A gentle water based infusion of silica that’s quick to apply, it’s a simple, everyday essential for healthier skin". The use of a light aqua-based infusion of silica is said to prepare your skin to receive best results from other products.
Sönd Skincare
On the skin, this spray is lightweight and does not leave your skin soaking wet. One of my pet hates with a face spray is the dispersal of too much product and the soaking of the skin. If spritizing it directly onto the face is not for you, can you spray it to the palms of your hands or onto a cotton wool pad and then pat it onto the skin. It is really refreshing and a great little pick me up for those mid afternoon slumps when you have been slaving away at the desk and just want a disco nap (which you should also have) or you can use it as a toner which is a great way of adding it into your skincare routine. I use it as a face mist and it does leave my skin feeling hydrated and refreshed and because it is fragrance free, it is perfect for sensitive skin too.

In total, Sönd has got five products on offer; Gentle Daily Cleanser, Energising Mineral Supplements, Replenishing Facial Oil, Revitalising Face Serum and Hydrating Face Spray and they are definitely worth looking at and trying.
