The Vintage Cosmetics Advent Calendar - What was inside!

If cute and kitsch is your thing, then the Vintage Cosmetic Company Twelve Days Advent Calendar is perfect for you because it is not only cute and kitsch it is also very very pink!  If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that I opened each of the 12 days on Instagram Stories so that you could see the contents. 

So behind the doors of this calendar I got the following:

Again, I think this is such a brilliantly cute advent calendar and one which is slightly different to the rest that I have ever had or seen opened.  The Vintage Cosmetics Company is a British Company who wanted to bring a product that offers something unique in the market and a product that would pay tribute to old-Hollywood and harks back to the glamour and charm of the 1950s, but one that serves the everyday beauty needs of women everywhere. The ultimate goal being that The Vintage Cosmetic Company would offer a range of high quality beauty accessories with a unique, feminine personality. Glo & Ray Cosmetics

Until recently Glo&Ray Cosmetics has alluded me, ive seen it on social media channels but have never tried it. Sold in BeautyMart, which you can also find in Topshop if you live in London, Gloy&Ray is a British company which draws inspiration from the natural wonder of light. The name Glo & Ray is derived from ‘Glo’, a gentle luminance; and ‘Ray’, a vibrant beam of light. Making their debut back in September 2012, the range is quite impressive with everything you need for your eyes, lips and face as well as one or two extra products for makeup removal and cleansing.

I was very kindly given an introduction to Gloy&Ray with three products which I absolutely love and ones that I have now used for the last 2 months constantly. 

The Nuage Solo Blush in shade Dawn Seed which is a really lovely soft peach tinted shade with slight golden hues and it is ideal for being used as a contour bronzer or cheekbone highlighter as well as a blush. 

Encased in what can only be described as a luxurious compact, it comes with an accompanying brush, which is just fabulous and perfect for using on the go. The compact lid holds a mirror which is a nice addition. At £11 it isn't going to break the bank, but it does make you think twice about some of those high end brands which charge almost double!

I do love my eyeshadows and have mentioned frequently that I am a nude/neutral kind of girl and it is rare I leave my comfort zone. The Mirage eyeshadow pots have a mousse consistancy and they work like a cream, so ideal for dipping your finger in the pot if you don't have a brush to hand. 

I have the shade Olive Garden which I can best describe as being a forest green but with blue/green shimmer and it is just stunning. This one I have worn quite a few times now and it is quite striking, more so because I have bright blue eyes. Again at £11 a pot it is money well spent, it doesn't crease or smudge whether it is worn with or without a primer, however using a primer ensures it does last all night without the need to touch up.

Lipsticks, you can never ever have too many in my opinion and this La Amo Creamy Shimmer Lip Colour in shade Seduce is just absolutely stunning. Seduce is a deep red lipstick which is super pigmented and the colour payoff is amazing, one swipe across the lips gives a full burst of colour. All of the La Amo creamy shimmer collection features a Light Colour Fitness Complex alongside Micro-Shine Particles to provide a dazzling effect for irresistibly fuller looking lips. 

Enriched with pigment and with a shimmer finish, lips are left soft, moisturised and with a flash of colour and if you do look close enough at the lipstick bullet you can see some slight shimmer within the colour but this doesn't transfer to the lips so that they sparkle, it just adds to the finished look. Impressively once applied, this lipstick lasted around 6 hours because it had faded to the point a touch up was required. Priced at £12 this is more than reasonable a price and it definitely does give some high end brands a run for their money.

Swatched below with each products this is just one swipe of the finger for the blush and eyeshadow and one swipe of the lipstick bullet, so you can see the amazing colour payoff.

As an introduction to Glo&Ray these are three amazing products and ones that I just absolutely adore and ones that I have used, infact one needs replacing already I have loved it that much. I am now keen to try more products from the range and to definitely work my way through the lipsticks!

The festive season is over, the alarm is back on and the dread of getting out of bed before lunchtime has become a reality once again as we trudge off back to become desk warriors. I have enjoyed having ten days off work, not doing a lot, barely leaving the house and living in PJ's, so going back to work has come as a slap back into reality.

You can use it in a morning or an evening depending upon your preference.

What I love about this mask is how it feels on the skin, it sinks in when you apply it. The cream is thick and luxurious and  the Chamomile scent is there very notably. Given the bottle is pump action you only need two possibly three pumps to have more than enough to cover your entire face 'generously' as advised. Once the excess has been removed there is no greasy residue or tackiness to the skin, what I did find was my skin felt smooth, it felt cooled and it felt moisturised.  Was the redness on my cheeks reduced, yes it was and possibly only I would notice the difference, but to me that is all that counts.

I Heart Makeup Golden Bar Eyeshadow Palette

I am a huge fan of Makeup Revolution and the sister brands I Heart Makeup, Makeup Obsession and of course Freedom. There is something about a brand who can just continue to come up with one products after another which gives those high end brands a run for their money and makes you question as to whether or not you really do need to splash the cash.

The latest palette that I have added to my collection is the brand new Golden Bar which as soon as I saw it, I ordered it. I love Too Faced, their products are divine, but I also love that I Heart Makeup have managed to come up with a dupe time and time again, but is this the best that has been on offer to date?

Encased inside the tell tale palette which gives the impression a bar of chocolate has been half opened, are 16 indulgent, creamy and blendable eyeshadow shades that are a mixture of matte and shimmers and yes it smells of chocolate, for me much more so than the other palettes within the range. As with other palettes, the lid forms a mirror which runs the entire length of the palette and there is a double ended blending brush which I have found better to use than the others that have ever been included.

So as you can Golden Bar has a lovely mixture of chocolately shades and so many of them are just absolutely stunning, I don't think I can even pick a favourite shade but here they are swatched one by one.

I’m a big fan of my smartphone as it helps me do everything from run my Instagram page to even providing a little gaming entertainment. And whilst I’m constantly amazed by how much our mobile devices can do, I’ve been keen to check out some of the latest accessories that can supercharge the capacities of our little mobile friends!

What’s an Instagram feed without a good selfie every now and then? And whilst I was reluctant for a long time, I finally caved in and got myself a selfie-stick!

Although I still find the sight of people using them at tourist sites a bit annoying, they are really good fun for family self-portraits. Most of the latest models are Bluetooth-equipped to help your selfies be much less of a struggle, and with a bit of the Facetune app, even the most dismal of self-portraits can be transformed into an Instagram hit!

As our smartphones become a more indispensable part of our lives, it’s also worthwhile to get a decent phone case to prevent it from getting scratched - or worse. Whilst I’m pretty impressed with Givenchy’s chic Rottweiler phone case, I wish that they would release a cat version for us feline-crazy females.

But I’ll probably be saving up to get some decent Beats headphones so that I can enjoy my Spotify playlists without annoying the rest of the household too much. These are great as they not only sound awesome, but come in a range of colours and styles to match whatever look you’re rocking at the moment.

I think I’ll also invest in one of those Amazon Fire Sticks so that I can effortlessly beam my favourite YouTube cat videos from my mobile to my television.

However, seeing as the new year is just around the corner, I’m sure that I’m not the only one who will be trying to shed a few pounds by joining the latest fitness craze.

And thankfully Fitbit’s latest range of wearable fitness trackers means that we can all get a more accurate measure of how many calories we’re burning. And what better way to reward yourself for your fitness efforts than just one more casino game at the end of your workout session!

I have been using some products from the Mane 'n Tail range for the past few weeks and it is easy to get what all the excitement is about. The Shampoo and Conditioner work so well with my hair which, depending on the time of the month can be dry, greasy or a bit of both. I have to watch my scalp because it can become sensitive if products are too strong, so I do where possible try to avoid the silicone based products because I can be left itching my scalp as though I have lice. The Mane 'n Tail Gentle Clarifying Shampoo is a revitalising formula dedicated to cleansing and moisturising from root to tip. Since I started to use these products, what I have noticed that you need just the smallest amount for it to work and by small, I mean no bigger than that 50p and it lathers really well, washes out really well and the feeling afterwards is soft, smooth shiny locks. I don't condition my hair every time I wash it, I do that every other wash and I have started to alternative been the Mane 'n Tail Gentle Replenishing Conditioner; which is a deeply nourishing formula that targets breakage and split ends to reveal repaired, healthy-looking hair and their Hair Strengthening Leave-in-Conditioner, so I am looking forward to seeing the results of those.

Alongside the hair care products I have been using Hoofmaker which is the Mane 'n Tail Hand and Nail Therapy. It is no secret that I adore hand cream and go through tubes of the stuff, so I have, for the time being switched to this to see how it fares. It is described as being a fast-absorbing, non-greasy, moisturising, protein-enriched formula which targets cracked, dry skin not just on the hands but also on the feet and body. Perfect for softening rough, callused areas, you can expect smooth, comfortable and rejuvenated skin all over the body. When it comes to using the cream, it does feel slightly different to other hand creams that I have used but it does, as described, it sinks in and disappears on contact, it leaves no greasy tacky residue behind and it does leave your hands, feet and I have used it on my legs - soft, smooth and really moisturised. I've suffered no irritations, my skin isn't dry and I just really really like the cream.

Vitamasques Manuka Honey Face Mask - I absolutely love Korean skincare and this mask is made with extracts of nourishing Manuka Honey to nourish your skin. 

Inspired by Korean innovation, this is a triple layer sheet which is designed to enhance the moisture content within the mask and lead to an increased absorption rate within the skin. Once you have cleansed your face, you apply this mask and sit back, relax and wait for 20 minutes before removing.

True Organic of Sweden All You Need it Me! - This product is an award winning multi-purpose balm which I am already obsessed with. The tube is made from sugarcane not plastic and it works great on cracked and dry cuticles, heels, elbows and lips. Can be used as a nourishing scalp and hair mask. 

Also perfect as a lip gloss. Mosquito and insect bites, poison ivy, eczema, mild sunburn, red baby bottoms and rough dry gardening hands to name just a few. The texture is quite thick but similar to that of Dr Lipp (which I adore) and you only need a small amount and it melts with relative ease onto your skin.

The final item in the box is theBalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Single Eyeshadow. 

I have Matt Moskowicz which can be found on the Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette and this shade is described as being a seasonal aubergine shade and whilst it is quite buttery to swatch, it is one of those shades which is definitely more Autumn and Winter than Spring/Summer in my humble opinion, but it is really pretty.
