L'OCCITANE Caring for Sight Collections

At L’OCCITANE, they want to live in a world where everyone can see and experience the true beauty that nature has to offer. 

Caring for Sight is one of L’OCCITANE’s six commitments to people and the planet, that plays a central role in all of our activities. A Few facts for you:

• In 1997, L'Occitane began using Braille on their products where possible, and  continue to do so today.
• Thanks to The L’OCCITANE Foundation and partners such as UNICEF, in 2020 they met their 10by20 goal. To have helped 10 million beneficiaries of eye care by 2020.
• L'Occitane being L'Occitane, they have now set an even more ambitious target: to have 15 million beneficiaries gain access to eye care by 2025.

To help achieve this goal, L'Occitane has created three Caring for Sight Collections to celebrate World Sight Day on the 14th October 2021, in previous years the gift has been a candle with a poignant reminder of just how lucky we are. Collaborating with illustrator Ruby Taylor, not only do these bespoke designs have a unique story to tell but Ruby also explores the eternal beauty of nature, the treasure-trove of Provençal ingredients at the heart of L’OCCITANE, and most importantly their commitment to preventing avoidable blindness.  Each one of these Caring for Sight Gift Sets features an array of products that you will be familiar from the line-up of L'Occitane products -  Delicious Almond, Nourishing Shea Butter, Invigorating Verbena and Rose amongst others.

The Caring for Sight collections have been created to celebrate World Sight Day on the 14th October 2021 and increase the number of beneficiaries we are able to reach in order to prevent avoidable blindness; £5 from the sale of every collection will be donated to UNICEF to help fund vitamin A supplementation programs worldwide.

Why Vitamin A? 

285 million people in the world suffer from visual impairment, and in 80% of these cases, subsequent blindness would have been preventable if treated appropriately. Vitamin A deficiency represents one of the leading causes of infantile blindness, which is why L’OCCITANE continues to partner with UNICEF to help fund the development of these programs.

Between 2017 to 2019, L’OCCITANE committed to donating a minimum of 1 million euros per year to UNICEF, and at the end of these years, more than four million children from Myanmar, Bolivia, Papua New Guinea and Niger received the treatments. The eyesight of 2.3 million additional children was protected than initially projected.

We are proud to have committed to a further three years of the partnership between the L’OCCITANE Foundation and UNICEF, with the hope of preventing infantile blindness in more than 3 million children by 2022. This will total 7 million children whose eyesight has been protected since the partnership began in 2017.

So to continue in their efforts, L'Occitane have created these beautiful Caring For Sight gift Collections and £5 from the sale of every collection will be donated to UNICEF to help fund vitamin A supplementation programs worldwide.

Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment Review

If you hadn't already guessed, I have really been enjoying getting to know Ole Henriksen as a brand and have made my way through some amazing products, the Lemonade Soothing Scrub and the Truth Juice Cleanser being just two of those products.  Today I am back with a product which launched a few months ago and it has quite a funky name - the Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment. 

The Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment is described as being the brands most transformative retexturizing and replenishing acid serum that does all the work while you sleep. I am all for lazy skincare and anything that works for my skin whilst I do little or nothing!

Fall asleep in ease with Dewtopia, thanks to the dreamy sensorial experience. The product is inspired by OLEHENRIKSEN’S spa heritage, the soft, custard-like texture cradles your skin as a slight tingle lets you know the formula is working. The addictively yummy lemon sugar scent ends your day on a sweet note and will have you looking forward to your night-time routine all day. Put uneven texture, dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles to bed and admire your Ole Glow in the morning.

Dewtopia is a potent 20% acid night serum that is designed to smooth the skins texture, firm, improve elasticity and also targets dark spots, pores, fine lines & wrinkles. Based on an 8-week clinical study on 36 women, after 4 weeks:

• 97% of users agree this product gives skin a healthy glow
• 94% of users agree this product reveals softer, smoother skin
• 92% of users agree this product retexturizes skin

The Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment is described as having a velvety, custard-like texture that you will fall in love with.  Looking at it, I can see why Dewtopia has been described that way, but it is much more of a gel texture to be and it has the most wonderful lemon sugar scent which I really enjoyed. As well as being vegan and cruelty free, this night treat is packed with a powerful 20% acid blend which is made up of 10% AHAs and 10% PHAs and alongside them you will also find a host of other ingredients which helps replenish skin.

Ingredients

• 10% AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) & 10% PHAs (polyhydroxy acids) - Chemically exfoliate; help smooth skin texture
• Aloe Juice, Nordic Birch Sap & Cotton Water -Help nourish & condition
• Licorice Extract - Helps reduce the look of dark spots

If you have not used Acids within your skincare routine before or haven't used them for a while, the advice is to always ensure you do a patch test and then introduce them slowly into your routine, starting with using it just once a week and gradually building this up to 2-3 times. If you use acid products regularly, then you should be able to use this 2-3 times a week.  I am lucky not to have sensitive skin, but whenever I am introducing an a new acid, I will always try it first before diving straight in.  I am delighted to say that having been using this now for well over 5 weeks, I have had no irritations, redness or other skin issues

On the skin, the very first few times I used Dewtopia, I did have the tingling sensation on my skin, it is a painful experience and it doesn't sting, it is actually great to know the product you are using is actually working on your skin.  I have combination oily skin, so dry patches, especially on my cheeks which can be a bit of a issue because makeup clings and looks horrendous.  Dewtopia quickly made its mark on my skin and the improvement was incredible, my skin was not only soft and smooth to the touch, but the one bit of dryness that had been troubling me for a few days has gone. 

If you have uneven textured skin, dry patches or any part of your skin which clings to makeup, then a product such as this could work wonders, I am so happy it worked for me and to date, it is my second favourite Ole Henriksen product alongside the Lemonade Smoothing Scrub, which would also be a great product if using as acid is not for you.

The Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night Treatment can be found in Boots for around £46, though it is often on a deal and costs much less, but it is worth every single penny!
