5 Steps to Hosting the Best Event for Your Beauty Business

Follow these tried-and-true tips for the most successful beauty event imaginable

Nowadays, it is extremely common to hear about people managing both retail and online beauty businesses, whether in an entrepreneurial fashion or as a side gig to another job. These are those individuals who market products, produce flyers and accessories in makeup, hair, skin, and more on Instagram and other platforms with the intent of getting consumers excited and interested about the industry, moving them towards action. And for men and women in this field, one of the best ways to grow and expand is always through networking. If you work in beauty and have been considering hosting an event for your biz, this is your sign to get that party started!

Here are five surefire steps to ensuring its success.

Choose a Theme

Every worthwhile party begins with a theme. This is where you’ll choose the event’s identity through colours, words, decorations, etc. The key here is to consider both goal and audience first and foremost by asking yourself questions like: ‘What am I attempting to communicate through these products and what specific group do these products serve?’ If you can nail down an attractive theme, your guests will be aesthetically intrigued and even more likely to take genuine interest in your beauty items.

Plan Out Fun Games/Activities

While an event’s theme is a crucial first impression and can undoubtedly set the tone for the rest of the afternoon or evening, it’s also important to think about what activities will be offered during the event. For example, you could have a ‘Sample Station’ where you let your guests try out some specific products for themselves, equipped with mirrors and makeup accessories/wipes for easy application and removal. There could also be an informational area with flyers/ brochures that give a more in-depth look at your business and offerings.

But most of all. don’t forget about the entertainment factor! Section off a space where music and games take center stage so that boredom is never an option. Here, one idea would be to plan some ice breaker activities to encourage interaction amongst party-goers. Your guests could also play classic multi-player board games like Risk and Scrabble. Or, for something a bit more competitive and thrilling, a popular card game like Blackjack is ideal. Although there is some skill involved, Blackjack tops the list for many when it comes to most appealing casino games, so there is a high likelihood that at least a few attendees already know its ins and outs.

Ensure You Never Run Out of Food

No event, whether beauty related or not, can be a great hit without food and snacks galore. Unless it is understood that there won’t be anything to munch on at the party, your guests will probably arrive with an eager appetite. Therefore, ensure that the room is nicely adorned with finger foods, drinks, plates, and cutlery, checking frequently if anyone may need a refill or second plate. And, since it is a beauty-related event after all, you could enlist someone to make themed-cookies or cakes in the shape of lipsticks, for example, if you really want to go all out and impress.

Whether it’s makeup accessories and applicators or the products themselves, your guests will greatly appreciate receiving free samples at your event

Don’t Forget the Sign-up Sheet!

Not all events will have a sign-up sheet at the door, but because this one is primarily for networking, this is a vital component that should not be left out. When guests first enter your party, have them write their first and last name as well as primary contact information so that you can keep up with them after they go. This is a great outreach marketing tool which will come in handy later on. Having every attendee’s name written down can also serve well for a raffle, whereby all names are thrown into a hat, and one is randomly drawn for a prize. After all, giveaways are huge in the beauty industry and many others, with proven benefits for reach, views, and engagement.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Cleansing is my favourite skincare task to do and complete, particularly of an evening when I double cleanse. For me, there is something about coming home from work and just taking time out to remove the day and attempt to leave those troubles, stresses and any other feeling you might have, being washed away down the sink.  A cleanser I have used for quite some time is the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which I first came across many years a go in a beauty bag from a blogger event I had attended and it has been one of those products I have used ever since.
It is described as being an illuminating face cleanser which is suitable for all skin types and much like its counterpart, the Renaissance Mask, is very much loved and hyped, for reasons which will become clear.

This Cleansing Gel should be used on dry skin, this Gel is quite unique in that it is lovingly thick and rich pink in colour, its job is essentially to strengthen, brighten and revitalise the skin, whilst at the same time removing the day from your skin - makeup, skincare, SPF, dirt, grime, pollution and anything else lurking. It also has this most amazing Rose Chamomile scent that, if you are familiar with the Renaissance Mask, you will recognise and it is quite calming. On the skin, it melts on application, is non-foaming and quickly turns from the thick gel to an almost oily milk texture with so little effort it is a dream to use.

It has a potent blend of high-tech natural ingredients which also includes a broad range of vitamins and essential skin nutrients which have all been chosen specifically:
  • Pumpkin Enzyme - help to cleanse pores and gently dissolve dead and dry skin
  • Vitamin A which helps to improve the appearance of the skin, especially sun damaged, dry and mature by gently resurfacing and promoting elasticity
  • Vitamins C and E are known for their restorative properties and work to fortify and protect against free radical and environmental attack;
  • Starflower Oil which has a high content of Omega 6, Magnesium and Vitamins B2 and C come together to promote firmness
Added to all of those is Oskia’s signature MSM which not only works to detoxify but to also soothe and reduce inflammation.

I absolutely love the texture of this cleanser, it is so silky soft and smooth, it doesn't have any 'bits' within the gel that make it unbearable on the skin, I love that it is to be used on dry skin and when I do use it, I massage it onto my skin whilst my muslin cloth is soaking in warm water and give it those few extra minutes to work any magic it can offer me, all the while taking in that Rose Chamomile fragrance which is just delightful.  As you remove the gel from you skin and the oily texture is incredibly easy to work with, it doesn't irritate or strip the skin of moisture and the most important part of any cleanser is whether or not it does the job you are told it will. Well this one absolutely does and it does so effortlessly, not only does it dissolve absolutely everything in its path, it also removes stubborn waterproof mascara and eyeliner without any thought, it is that good!

This incredible Oskia Renaissance cleansing Gel is available in supersize (200ml), full-size (100ml) and travel-sized (35ml) editions and I always seem to purchase the 35ml as it lasts and lasts and lasts and is just delightful, if you haven't guessed already.  The 35ml is also only £16 and worth every single penny, so if you are looking for a new cleansing gel, then this is one you need to try, if you haven't done so already!

Monpure Hydrate and Soothe Scalp Serum

Did you know that our scalps age in the same way as the skin on our faces? Admittedly I’d never given it any thought until I started to take scalp care really seriously, but an ageing scalp can lead to dull and thinning hair along with other problems such as an increase of shedding which in turn can lead to hair loss. But that isn’t all! When we experience changes to the weather, go through a monthly period cycle or have an illness, as with the skin on your face, which might become irritated, dry and even irritated, so can your scalp and it’s something to think about when choosing your hair care products.
Monpure Hydrate and Soothe Scalp Serum
I mentioned the importance of caring for your scalp with the Monpure Clarifying Scalp Scrub and how it should be as important as any other part of your body. Alongside the scalp scrub, I’ve been using the Monpure Hydrate and Soothe Scalp Serum which is simply delightful.

The Hydrate and Soothe Scalp Serum is described as being an intense, anti-inflammatory solution for quenching very dry, irritated scalp-skin, as well as soothing rough patches. It can also help to calm the symptoms of problems such as redness, acne, eczema, sun damage and for me, most importantly general stress on the scalp, an issue which plagues me from time to time.

This serum using a whole host of ingredients which have been chosen specifically for the properties and they include:
  • Allantoin - known for its healing properties, this is an extract which is used to both calm irritation and promote skin cell renewal.
  • Pro Vitamin B5 - this is an ingredient you hear a lot about with hair care and it is said to be a wonder solution for those with a dry and flaky scalp, as it works like a sponge to rapidly absorb moisture and help lock it in. It is also used to treat wounds and irritation which in turn encourages skin cell regeneration so your scalp is left fortified and soothed.
  • Witch Hazel - used regularly in skincare, so why not in hair care?! We all know witch Hazel as being a natural toner and that it has anti-inflammatory properties, so it is ideal for treating irritated scalps.
Alongside these ingredients you will also find the scalp-quenching ingredients such as aloe vera and vitamin E which together are known for their calming and soothing properties.

The serum itself isn’t overly thick when being used and it’s important that it isn’t overly greasy too because it is designed to be applied to clean and either dried or towel-dried scalps. I’ve found the best way to apply it is to part my hairline into sections and then using the dropper, I am able to ensure I cover the parts of my scalp that I feel most need it. Once the serum is on the scalp, the advice is to simply massage it in and then leave it to work it’s magic and not to rinse it out and you can use it daily if you feel your scalp needs it. When I had a flare up of my scalp being irritated, I used it once a day until I felt my scalp was much calmer and now I use it at least once a week.

Priced at £60 right here, it is on the expensive side, but it is an incredible product and has been an absolute lifeline for me!
