Roccabox - Spring Fling May 2021 Edition

This months Roccabox is aptly titled 'Spring Fling' and because things are looking up, nature is in full bloom and seeing other human beings other than our household on the horizon. 

Within this months box, the products have been chosen because they are fun, flirty and perfect as we head into the warmer weeks with family and friends. Expect to find hydrating skincare, makeup to keep the shine at bay and a must have SPF.

The first item out of my box and the hero product comes from Illamasqua with Beyond Powder in the shade Deity.

Described as being a baked highlighter powder with a unique golden-green hue, it can be used wet or dry to add a subtle luminosity to skin. Whether or not you want that glow to be subtle or shining like a disco ball, this is the product to do just that and it comes packaged in a hard plastic case with a mirror - so handy for on the go!

The second product out of the box comes from Emery Nails and there are four different shades in the boxes, so you will either get Bear, Belle, Aubrey or Rosy.

This is a brand I have never come across until now, in my box I have the shade Rosy and it is described as having a warm hue and it sits within the deep pink family. It has what is referred to as a luxurious crème formula, so not only is easy to apply, but it is also long-lasting and has a flawless high gloss shine.

Up next we have Doctors Formula and this time it is the Probiotics with the Deep Hydration and Repairing Mask, something we all probably need right now after hours of sitting in front of laptops working from home.

Described as being an intensive treatment that strengthens and rebalances skin, this night time mask works to maintain the skin's good bacteria to ensure a bright, smooth and healthy look. It uses an ingredient called Relipidium which works in harmony with Probiotics to deliver high levels of moisture, which helps to plump the facial contours whilst improving protection against environmental stress.

From Hawaiian Tropic we have their All Natural Mineral Milk SPF30 and it is described as being a is an ultra-spreadable, silky sunscreen lotion.

This lotion is made with 100% mineral actives that provide broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection without chemical filters or parabens. The unique mineral formula doesn’t leave behind the dreaded white cast on the skin like other mineral sunscreens. This nourishing formula is enriched with Hawaiian-inspired botanicals such as coconut and kukui nut which gives you long-lasting, lightweight moisturisation.

The final item in the box comes from Mallows Beauty, a brand I have only ever come across in beauty boxes in recent months, within this box we have the Pink Clay Face Mask.

This mask contains French pink clay which is great for sensitive skin and it works to gently draw out impurities whilst at the same time helping to balance your skin.  Described as being a multi-tasking mask, it contains 98% natural ingredients, including; Hyaluronic acid, melon, strawberry and cranberry extracts. 

This is quite the box, I love that there is a whole host of different products taking in both makeup and skincare. SIORIS Stay with me Day Cream

The perfect partner to the Sioris The Milk Cleanser, which I shared a few days back is the Sioris Stay With Me Day Cream.

Described as being a saviour all skin types, this moisturising day cream not only helps to retain the balance of water and oil in the skin but it is also tasked with boosting its moisture levels too.  I don’t know about you, but the past few months or so, I’ve noticed that my skin feels parched, it needs hydration whilst at the same time soothing. All the hours spent sitting in front of my laptop, having more meetings online than ever before, have wreaked havoc.

With this day cream, you can expect it to be packed with ingredients which are chosen for their ability to calm down and relieve irritations, inflammations and refresh the skin. To do that, as with the milky cleanser, this cream contains the likes of soothing Centella Asiatica and Camellia Sinensis which work alongside the following:

• Organic Fruit Water (derived from green plum or yuzu), which is packed with nutrients, minerals and vitamins to revitalize a skin
• Omija Fruit Extract (also known as Schisandra Chinese Fruit Extract) and it is packed with nutrients, amino acids and vitamins to nourish a skin
• Antioxidant-rich Calendula Extract to soothe and calm irritated skin
• White Willow Bark Extract - A natural exfoliant that can prevent pore clogging and soothe irritated skin.
• Plant-based Squalene, Ceramide NP and Panthenol to strengthen the skin’s barrier and boost moisture levels

On the skin, this cream is incredibly lightweight, it isn’t heavy, it doesn’t take ages to massage into the skin and surprisingly the milky texture, once absorbed leaves no trace on the skin. It isn’t sticky or tacky and it definitely does help with this moisture levels in that my skin always feels dry around my cheeks moving towards my eyes, so that is where I have noticed the most difference.

Again, there is absolutely nothing to dislike about this cream, it is a delight to use and having tried a few products from the range now, it has made me want to discover what else Sioris has to offer.  

This cream is priced at £28 for 50ml but you need to use so little each time you use it, it will last for months.

Bioderma Hydrabio Moisturising Masque

I suspect over the last year, we have all taken ore notice of how our skin looks and feels, I have definitely noticed less redness on my cheeks, but an increase in dryness and despite ensuring I drink the advised 2-3 litres of water a day, have a simple skincare routine and eat my 5 a day, I still need to use oils, masks, scrubs and cleansers.  One product I have used a lot comes from Bioderma with the Hydrabio Moisturising mask.

Depending on my needs, I like all different kinds of masks - sheet masks, bubble masks, charcoal orientated masks, drying tight on the skin masks, scrubby masks, gel masks and lightweight masks which you can apply and just get on with whatever it is you are doing. This Bioderma Hydrabio mask is perfect for those who need a bit of hydration, it is lightweight and you can apply it, carry on with the ironing and not have to worry it will drip everywhere.

Bioderma’s Hydrabio Mask, which is designed for sensitive and dehydrated skin, feels really soothing and refreshing when you apply it to your skin. It comes packed in a squeezy tube and one squeeze give more than enough product to cover your face.

This weekly mask contains what is referred to as Bioderma’s patented Aquagenium® biological complex which is designed to stimulate in-depth moisture and lock it on to the skin’s surface. From the first use, this mask provides deep down, lasting moisture, even during periods of extreme dehydration. I have used this mask a lot, I think there is enough in this tube for one final mask and it is incredible for those times when you just need hydration. Sitting in front of a screen all day really does play havoc with my skin and since I have been working from home, I have sat on front of that screen much more than I would usually have done.

To use, the advice is to apply a thick later of the Hydrabio mask over the face and the neck to let it work its magic for at least 10 minutes, once that time is up, remove any excess with a cotton wool pad. The first time I used this mask, there was no excess! Following the advice, you should use the Hydrabio Mask every day for the first week, and once weekly after that. It is just utterly divine and I have already purchased another tube!
