9 Ways To Boost Your Self Confidence In 2021

The coronavirus pandemic has had an adverse affect on many people around the world. We’ve all been stuck inside the same four walls for the majority of the past nine months or so, and this can greatly affect mental well being. So much so that you may have noticed a decline in your self confidence. Whether that’s due to lack of social interaction, or you’ve piled on a few pounds during lockdown, it’s time to break out of the funk! Here are some tried and tested ways of boosting your self confidence, just in time for the New Year’s resolutions!

Improve your eating habits
If your self esteem has plummeted due to weight gain, weight loss, or even blemishes on your skin, this could be down to a change in eating habits. Being stuck at home unexpectedly for long periods of time is bound to disrupt your eating habits! Take some time to look at what you’re putting into your body to identify where you’re going wrong, and make some changes! Here are some great tips on improving your eating habits:
  • Keep a food diary to look back on at the end of each week. You’ll notice where you’ve slipped up or areas you could improve, and it will also help you stay on track and focused.
  • Drink more water. Quite often we mistake thirst for hunger, and this quickly leads to overeating. When you feel hungry, drink a glass of water and wait ten minutes. You’ll find that more often than not, you were thirsty rather than hungry!
  • Listen to your body and the signals it’s giving you. Are you actually hungry, or are you thinking about food because society dictates that it’s a meal time. Learn what hunger signals your body gives out and only eat when you’re truly hungry. You should also stop eating when that feeling of hunger disappears. You may end up eating little and often, but this will also help prevent overeating.
  • Pack as many vegetables into your diet as possible. Filling up on low calorie and nutritious foods will help reduce weight gain and promote weight loss.

Treat your problematic areas
Everyone has a part of their body they dislike. Whether it’s love handles, cellulite on the thighs and bottom, or fatty deposits above the bra line, it can really get you down and in turn, cause your self esteem to spiral downwards. Exercise and clean eating will help many of these issues, but if it’s something that’s really bothering you and you’re struggling to fix it, you may consider vaser liposuction to help remove fat and reshape your body. There are many different treatments available, all targeting common problematic areas of the body, and can be a great way to boost your self confidence! If surgery isn’t something you want to do, you can buy tools to help problematic areas such as a cellulite massaging tool, or a body wrap to help sweat off some extra pounds.

Find an exercise you love
Exercise is important, yet many people fail to get even nearly the recommended amount each week, and that’s totally understandable if you’re someone who simply doesn’t enjoy it! Forcing yourself to run on a treadmill or around the park isn’t going to last or benefit you if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing. Find an exercise you love that will inspire you to keep going. Many people choose swimming as a way to target all areas of the body without feeling like they’re actually exercising. Perhaps you could attend an aqua aerobics class with a friend, or find a sport like netball to ensure you’re getting the right amount of exercise. Working out will naturally change the shape of your body, lose unwanted weight, tone up muscles and most importantly, boost your self esteem.

Take time to improve your mental health
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and if you neglect yourself mentally you will struggle to see yourself in a nice way. If you feel your mental health has suffered during lockdown, or perhaps you were struggling beforehand, take some time to improve your mental health! Your first port of call should always be your Doctor, as they can recommend treatments and give advice on where to turn, but in the meantime, you can try out these tips:
  • Write down your worries and anxieties. Sometimes writing them down can feel like a weight has been lifted.
  • Take time to treat yourself! Run a bath, pop on a face mask, light a candle and let your troubles melt away.
  • Speak to a loved one about how you’re feeling. Having someone close that you can call when you’re feeling down can really help. Here’s a great guide on how to talk to a loved one about your mental health that may help.
  • Get more sleep! Lack of sleep can trigger many mental health problems and exacerbate them. Try and get your nine hours!

Do something that makes you smile every day
With the pandemic rearing its ugly head, 2020 hasn’t been the year everyone expected it to be and for many, there hasn’t been that much to smile about. This can greatly affect your mood too! Find something that makes you smile and take the time to do it every day. Whether it’s a TV series that makes you laugh, or texting a friend that’s always got something funny to say, smiling as often as you can will help improve your overall mood.

Indulge in some new clothes
Sometimes a bout of self confidence issues come from losing your style. Perhaps you’ve fallen behind with latest trends, or simply not had the time or money to refresh your wardrobe. You might need to focus on your beauty products too, such as your perfume and make-up! These might need a switch up, such as buying a new lipstick or purchasing a pheromones perfume to really boost your confidence. Either way, treating yourself to some new clothes can make the world of difference to your self-confidence. Dress for your body shape and find yourself some new threads that you’ll be excited to show off!

Refresh your hairstyle
Much like a new outfit or shoes, refreshing your hairstyle can make you feel more confident in yourself too! If you’ve been rocking the same cut, colour and style for a while now, shake it up! Something as simple as a new colour or daring haircut will help turn heads and raise your self esteem!

Make time for yourself
If you are busy with work and a family, it’s easy to neglect yourself and do the bare minimum to keep going. Try and make more time for yourself to style your hair in the mornings, put on a little bit of makeup, and even a spritz of your favourite perfume, whether it is the one you wore on your wedding day or even a brand new bottle that you have been saving for a special occasion! Making a habit of this will leave you feeling more confident when you leave the house every day!

Be kind to yourself
It’s all too easy to look in the mirror and pick out every fault you think you have, but everyone is beautiful in their own way! Try and be kinder to yourself when you look in the mirror each morning. Pick out something that you like about yourself each day and remind yourself of that as often as you can. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you don’t love yourself, that will also show on the outside.

Losing your self confidence is horrible, but it’s totally possible to boost it back up again! The power is in your hands and with these tips, you can learn to love yourself again and become a new and improved, confident version of yourself!

Build A Home That Represents You

There are many things that we all want from our homes. Most of us desire comfort and security above all else, for one thing. But something else that you might well want from your home is for it to represent you in some way, for it to feel like your home and not just anyone’s. There are a lot of benefits to this, including generally being happy with your life and enjoying being in the home. But how can you actually make it a reality? In this post, we will look at how to build a home that truly represents you.

Put Your Personality In The Walls
One of the easiest and most essential ways to do this is to think about decorating your home in some kind of manner which ultimately represents your personality and who you are. By doing this, you can ensure that you are going to feel so much more at home, and your guests are going to get a stronger sense of who you are as well, which can help with the whole process. That could be as simple as having paintings and pictures up that you like, or even thinking about which colours most closely represent your style and personality. Either way, it will work.

Construct Your Own Design
If you have the opportunity to build your own home from scratch, that is one of the surest ways to get your own personality into the home, so that’s something that you might want to consider too. By constructing your own design in this way, you can essentially make it so that the very structure of the home speaks to you, and that’s something that will then always persist and be the case with that building - something that is attractive to many people. You might need the help of professional architects for this, but it’s worth doing it right.

Try Something New
Whatever you do, one of the main things to remember is that you need to try and do something entirely new. If you manage to do that, then you will find that you are much more likely to make the place yours, and to really get your personality out of it in a big way. Whereas, if you are simply going along with the old lines, it is much less likely that your own personality will shine from your home. It’s not always easy to come up with original ideas, but it’s worth it, even if it takes time to perfect.

Include Your Pastimes
What do you love to do? If you are at a loss, you can look to the answer to this question to discover what you might need to do in the home in order to make sure that it represents you fully and truly. Having your pastimes represented in some way ensures that there is no doubt who the whom belongs to, and you will feel so much more at home in it as a result of this too.

Rock Rose Gin - Winter Edition

Gin. What can I say about how much I love it as my alcoholic drink of choice. For many year, before it became 'the' drink, I have always had Gin and Tonic and I love that there is now so many varieties, flavours and types, the gift choice is endless and much more fun to source.  A friend of mine and I, always try and find the most amazing bottle to give one another each year and I think I will win this year because of Rock Rose Gin, The Winter Edition.
Rock Rose Gin - Winter Edition
Imagine being told that you can have a Christmas Tree Gin, what a thought! Well here she is all her glory and how fabulous is the bottle? It is said that the Winter Edition has been created with thoughts of bracing walks, roaring fires and dark nights in mind. The original Rock Rose elements have been scaled down to allow the delightful pine, earthy notes from the spruce tips to shine through.  If that isn't tempting enough for you, the tasting notes definitely will be.

Botanicals in Gin are really important and the inclusion of Juniper Berries are something you shouldn't be too surprised to see, as with this Gin, they make a great finishing note.  The tasting notes for this Gin have been split into three  - nose, palette and finish.  Having done a Gin tasting event, it was explained how and why you can taste certain elements of tasting note and what to look out for.  So for this Winter Edition it is broken down as follows:
  • Nose: Freshly cut pine as per the description above is well and truly evident and because it is balanced with orange peel and eucalyptus it is a quite soft taste.
  • Palate: You can see taste and smell the pine from the nose but in comes a hint of spicy black pepper which again is subtle but noticeable
  • Finish: This for me is where the Gin becomes a star. Here you get the really clean finish of fresh juniper and for that, you will get a slight hint of lemon, almost lemon sherbet without being as sharp because of the inclusion of both lemongrass and cinnamon.
Most of the comments I get from non-gin drinking friends is that they don't like the aftertaste as it is quite bitter, well this isn't bitter and it isn't acidic either, depending on what you pair it with, the taste is actually refreshing.  I took advice from Dunnet Bay Distillers and paired mine with tonic and a slice of apple and it was just delightful. I'm not just waiting for my Winter Walk Garnish, another suggestion, to arrive so I can try that too.

This Rock Rose Winter Edition Gin is priced at £37.50 for 700ml and can be found via Dunnet Bay Distillers here or Amazon* too.  If you have Gin drinking family members or friends that you usually give a gift too, this is an amazing gift to give.

Five Ways To Give Yourself Some Self-care!

Five Ways To Give Yourself Some Self-care!

Get Outside

The outdoors is a space that needs to be explored on a regular basis. Getting fresh air is important for your physical wellbeing but also for your mental wellbeing. There’s really nothing like getting outside from your home, no matter how comfortable your home may be. Breathing in that outside air from your lungs as you walk around your local area or take a long trek up a nearby hill, can be something that’s worth doing at least once a week. You might want to do it alone, with your partner or your children. You could meet up with a friend or work colleague to just walk around a certain area or park of your choice. Getting outside is important and it can be very easy to get cooped up inside during this time of year. It also helps a lot if you have a job where you work from home. It can be good to get some fresh air to get some clarity on an issue that might be worrying you or to simply reset the batteries for ten minutes until you’re ready for an afternoon of hard work.

Treat Yourself

We’re very quick to treat others with our money but when it comes to ourselves, a lot of the time, we’ll hold back or refrain from doing so. However, when it comes to self-care, it’s time to make that something you do more for yourself than others. Sure it might seem a little selfish, but it’s important to spend time and money on yourself. You are likely working hard for your money and so whatever you buy, should for the most part be treating you. There are also things that you might want to purchase that help improve those things that you may not like about yourself. We always tend to notice these things in ourselves, whereas others might see nothing wrong. However, it’s important to do what you can to make yourself feel good both on the inside and out. So for example, if there’s something you don’t like about your teeth, why not reach out to https://uk.instasmile.com/ to see what they can offer when it comes to perfecting your smile?

Meditate Or Take A Hot Bath

Sometimes, just slowing down your day with meditation or a hot bath can be just what you need to provide yourself with self-care. Meditation is a practice that has been used for a long time to find inner peace but to also focus in the moment. It has many health benefits that are worth knowing about when it comes to trying it out. A lot of people try it out for the first time, get impatient or frustrated, and won’t try it again. However, it’s something that you need to do a couple of times in order to start experiencing the benefits that it can provide for your health and your mind.

Find Ways To Reduce Stress

Stress is a part of life and like it or not, we’ll all experience stress at some point. Whether it’s a stressful time in your personal life or your work life, there are always ways to combat it. Stress needs outlets and so self-care is a great way of reducing stress where it can be reduced. If you’re having a particularly hard time, find the things that immediately get rid of that stress you’re holding in your body. It could be going to bed early or enjoying a nice glass of wine. Do what helps you and allows you to reduce those stress levels that can dangerous to your health.

Keep Active

And finally, keeping yourself active is very important. It’s worth finding ways to help get in that little bit of fitness here and there. Not everyone enjoys exercise but it is needed in order to keep your body functioning at its best. Find something you love and it won’t feel like as exercise as much but more like fun!

Use these tips to give yourself the self-care you need and deserve.
