Elle Beauty Advent Calendar 2020

ELLE Beauty Advent Calendar is back for 2020 and is described as packing more high end fashion and beauty behind 24 small doors than ever before. You can see the 2019 version on my blog here.

Featuring an incredibly pretty silver 'Starry Starry Nights' Bella Freud design this advent calendar features beauty products which are said to be worth a whopping £530

It will be priced at £125 and will feature 24 cult beauty products including brands such as Aveda, Benefit, OUAI and a of course a mini Bella Freud candle. But that's not all, you will also get a year's ELLE digital magazine subscription too.  Now, Elle haven't given away all of the information on the products inside this calendar, but the picture hopefully does for those who want to know.  What I can show you is what has been revealed below and I will update the post at a later date with the rest.

Essence DIY Advent Calendar - The Christmas Countdown 2020

Last year Essence released a DIY Advent Calendar and it is back for 2020 and in my view, much better than previous years.  I like Essence Cosmetics as a brand, they are super affordable and whilst not always easy to find in your local Wilko, can be found on Feelunique.

The 2020 Essence Make Your Own Advent Calendar is slightly difference to last year, the sparkly gold box which featured bags and 24 products so that you could decide what product goes where, has this year been replaced by a pink and white striped box but again with the bags and products.

What I love about this is that you are buying an advent calendar from a brand you like and you get to decide what to open when. Last year I bought the calendar for my god daughter and set it up so she could open a bag a day how I had set it up and it was a real treat as she was just becoming interested in makeup and because Essence products are not expensive, I felt it was a good place for her to start.

As you can see, inside is a whole host of makeup products from lashes and mascara to nail polish and lipgloss and the whole collection costs just €19.95 here, though hopefully when it arrives in the UK, the price will be around that.

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Masque review

The Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Masque has been on my list of masks I have wanted to try for some time now. The only thing stopping me from purchasing it was the fact it costs £45, which if it turned out to be a product I disliked, was a lot of money to pay out. So, instead, I purchased a deluxe version from Beauty Expert* which cost just £6.72.

The Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Masque is described as being a soothing face mask that is ideal for skin post peel, waxing, sun exposure or extractions and is said to be perfect for dry and irritated skin.

Using the botanical extracts to soothe, hydrate, detoxify and calm, the main ones being:

• Cucumber Extract - Known for its ability to nourish, hydrate, comfort, soothe, calm and de-puff the appearance of skin.
• Papaya Extract - Being rich in vitamins, this natural enzyme works to soften the appearance of skin.
• Chamomile Extract - A natural flower extract which helps comfort and soothe the look of skin.

Working alongside these, you will also find the inclusion of Pineapple, Sugar Maple, Sugarcane, Orange, Lemon, Bilberry and Aloe Vera too.

The advice for using is to apply a generous coat on to clean skin and allow it to work its magic for 10 minutes before rinsing with cool water. If you feel your skin needs a more intensive treatment, then the advice is to apply a thin layer as the last layer of skin care and leave on overnight.

On the skin, this masque is incredibly soothing and, if like, you pop it in the fridge for about half an hour before you use it, it is incredibly cooling too. Perfect for use when its been a hot summer day, you've been to the gym or are feeling a bit flushed.  The gel, which is clear isn't sticky or tacky when applied and you only need a small amount.  This tube has so far given me 4 uses and ive applied it to the entirety of my face, so there is perhaps enough left for one final use.  Once it is rinsed off, my skin feels soothed and moisturised and not at all stripped. It ticks a whole lot of boxes for me and I have since ordered a full sized version.

Designed to be used between 2-3 times a week or if your skin needs it, you can use it daily for intensive hydration.  Widely available, but I bought my deluxe version for £6.72 via Beauty Expert*.

ASOS Men's Grooming 12 Day Advent Calendar 2020

We finally have an advent calendar for men! It comes from ASOS and it is a 12 Day Grooming Advent Calendar and I think it is pretty good! The other two Advent Calendars from ASOS can be found here.

What you see here is a whole host of brands including LAB Series, Bull Dog and Men Expert hidden inside boxes and all for just £35 here*.  If you are not wanting the man in your life, whomever that might be, to miss out opening an Advent, well ASOS have one for you.
