Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse

I have a bit of an obsession with Pixi skincare and Pixi makeup, it is a brand that caught my attention, not with Glow Tonic, the much coveted and cult product, but instead with a product called Lip Twin a good few years ago now. Fast forward a few years and I have now tried, repurchased and bought again Glow Tonic because it is just that good. But then with Pixi, I am yet to try a product I don't like.

The one product I've been sat on the fence with is the Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse. Everything about it screams to me that I should love it and I'll be honest, I didn't love it when I used my first pot, but then I was given a second pot and my mind changed completely. I don't need to give Caroline any introductions, I am sure everyone knows who she is and what she does and honestly if there is something Caroline knows, it is her skincare.

Launched back in January 2017, the Double Cleanse is described as being a unique 2-in-1 cleanser created by Caroline Hirons where one side contains a solid cleansing oil and the other side a luxe cleansing cream for the ultimate PM cleansing. I am a huge advocate of the double cleanse and when I first got my pot, I was shocked that no one else had thought to create something like this, in fact, I am not aware of anything who has! Removing the lid from the pot, inside, it is split down the middle into two, one side is the solid cleanser and on the other a cream cleanser. It is worth noting at this point that both of the cleansers are fragrance-free, paraben free and are not tested on animals.

As mentioned, I am a huge advocate of double cleansing and the difference it has made to my skin over the past few years is quite something.  Within this pot, the solid cleanser is your first cleanse. Once out of the pot, the solid balm turns to an almost oil like texture and removes pretty much everything in its path.  It includes three key ingredients
  • Vitamin E protects & conditions
  • Camellia Oil Omega rich nourishes
  • Evening Primrose Oil heals & moisturises
What I now really like about this side of the tub is just how much 'stuff' it does remove from the skin. I use white flannels or Muslin cloths, whichever happens, to be within my grasp and watching that beautiful white clean cloth turn to something murky and dirty never fails to shock me. When I first used the balm, I didn't like the texture, it was a faff to remove, but now I used a spatula to dig a small coin sized amount out and I've not looked back since.
Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse Balm and Cream Split Pot

The second part of the tub is your second cleanse and its role is to condition the skin to prep it for the next steps of your skin care and in doing so, if you have anything nasty left on the skin, it is removed leaving a clear and clean canvass for your serums, oils, creams and other lotions and potions you might be using.  Again, as with the solid cleanser, it has three key ingredients which are:

  • Vitamin C promotes collagen & protects
  • Peptide Complex relaxes lines & plums
  • Arginine improves cell renewal & elasticity

Now what I like about this cream cleanser is how it feels on the skin as it is soft and silky smooth and it manages not to leave my skin feeling taut and as though I need to smoother it in oil after use.

For anyone who hasn't get grasped the concept of double cleansing, which like some skincare routines are a bit baffling, then this is such a good introduction into how it works, why it most and most importantly the difference it makes to your cleansing routine.  It took me a long time to figure out how amazing a balm cleanser is for that all important first cleanse.  You want a product that will dissolve that surface dirt and grime, neutralise pollutants as well as to break down makeup and sunscreen and this is exactly what the Balm Cleanser does.  When it comes to the second cleanse, a few of my friends prefer not to use a cream but ultimately it depends on your preference and what your skin needs and it could be a milk, gel or something which also exfoliates too. I tend to chop and change how I double cleanse depending on how my skin feels, but my first cleanse is always a balm.

Having given the Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse a second chance, I am glad that I did. It leaves my skin feeling as though it can breathe, I love that it removes everything in its path with the balm cleanse and I like how my skin feels after the cream cleanser. You can find the Pixi Double Cleanse on the Pixi website here or on the Marks & Spencer website here or on the Cult Beauty website here.

Christian Breton Gift Sets

Christian Breton is a French brand renowned for their skincare which started back in the 1960's. I have featured some of the products on my blog quite a few times (here). Aside from skincare, the Christian Breton range extends to cosmetics and from which there are 18 products to choose from which includes Eye Pencils, Shadows, Lip Gloss, Lipsticks, Loose Powder and much more.
Christian Breton Gift Sets
Today is the turn of two gift sets which would be perfect for Christmas and there is the Lip XL Kit and the Infinite Lashes kit.

The first is the Lip XL kit which contains 1 Lip XL Visible Plumping Effect and One Super Shine Natural Lip Gloss

Give your lips more volume with this complementary duo: lip care which gives volume for extra definition, a visible plumping effect and a super-shine lip gloss. Your lips appear fuller and sexier!

The Lip XL Swiss Lip Care Visible Plumping Effect which is best described as being a powerful gel treatment that hydrates, volumises and nourishes. Using a pioneering Swissium complex, the velvet-textured cream glides across the lip giving a sheer, pearlescent finish.
Christian Breton XL
Once applied, it instantly works to create enhanced definition and a visible plumping effect on the lips and has a slight cooling effect as it is applied. The beauty of this product is that it is suitable for use day or night and it can be worn alone for a natural looking satin shine, or underneath your favourite lipstick for amplified results. The overall effect being that your lips appear fuller, smoother and plush.

Also included within this duo is the Super Shine Natural Lipgloss.  I am not a fan of lipgloss usually, but there is something about this formula that I just can not get enough of. On application, it feels incredibly light on the lips, rather than sticky or tacky and as though you have rubbed your lips along a block of lard, it also adds full shine and colour which is long-lasting.
Christian Breton Lip Gloss
I have shade Just Perfect which is a beautiful Berry Shade and one that I really love wearing.

The second gift box is the Inifite lashes Kit which contains an Infinite Lash extension serum and a Super Volume Mascara.
The Infinite Lashes Serum improves the appearance of lash length and thickness. A safe alternative to lash extensions! With the Super Volume Mascara, get instantly longer and high-definition lashes.
I absolutely love trying a new mascara and have always got a few in my stash to try. This Super Volume Mascara has a really creamy formula but one which isn't overly wet.
Christian Breton Mascara
It has a short packed wand of bristles which is perfect for getting in between each lash and coating it with the product and because the formula is so lightweight, you can build it up and add a few layers without achieving the dreaded spider legs look.

Also included within the kit is the Infinite Lashes, Lash Extension Serum. Described as being a lash-enhancing serum that restores strength and vitality to natural eyelashes. I am in the middle of trying a similar product by another brand, so haven't tried this one yet but it does get some pretty good reviews.
Christian Breton Lash Serum
This eyelash serum has been developed by a team of scientists through a series of clinical trials with incredible results. Formulated using Christian Breton's exclusive XLash™ peptide and a super-protein blend, the bottle hosts an integrated brush applicator, which has an ultra-fine brush head. Like similar products, you apply the serum over the base of lashes and the Infinite Lashes formula encourages healthy growth, whilst strengthening the fibre and preventing eyelash loss.

I am a real big fan of the Christian Breton brand and I really like both of these kits.  They retail for around €38,00 via the website (here) and you can also find the products sold separately on AmazonAllBeauty and Lookfantastic.
