Rhug Estate Wild Beauty Replenishing Mask with Rhug Honey

I try as best as I can to do a face mask every single week, depending on how my skin feels and the latest product I have been using comes from Rhug Wild Beauty with their Replenishing Mask with Rhug Honey.

Until this mask arrived, I had never come across Rhug Wild Beauty and I am so glad I now have because it is such a wonderful story to what is an incredible brand in more ways than one. Lord Newborough, owner of the Rhug Estate, is the genius behind Wild Beauty. Rhug came to the family back in 1637 and forms the families main residence in North Wales. Inspired by the 12,500 acres of land which surrounds the Rhug Estate, Lord Newborough has transformed it into what has been described as a thriving and diverse business and recognised brand embracing farming, green energy, retail, wholesale and most recently, skincare.

Unsurprisingly, when you read all about Wild Beauty skincare, you won’t be too surprised to find that not only does it use the highest quality but also natural, organic, hand-picked and wild foraged ingredients which includes organic crops, wild forage, spring water, honey and beeswax which comes directly from around Rhug Estate. But that’s not all, most of the products are packaged in recyclable frosted glass jars or bottles, if you choose to have a product delivered, it too is made from 100% recycled cardboard and printed with 100% vegetable inks.

So the Replenishing Mask with Rhug Honey is described as being a purifying and replenishing treatment mask which is designed to target skin which is dull, dehydrated and congested skin for a smoother, brighter and more refined complexion.

Formulated with key ingredients including:
  • White Clay (Kaolin): This mineral-rich clay is perfect for deep cleansing and absorbs excess oil. A less-drying and gentler type, making it ideal for dry and sensitive skin types.
  • Organic hemp seed and plum seed oil: Both vitamin-rich and contain nourishing fatty acids to help protect the skin with their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. Not only they are very hydrating and healing, but they also don’t cause pores clogging either. Oily acne-prone skin types won’t need to worry about them.
  • Honey: This arguably the oldest skincare ingredient has natural healing properties. It is very nourishing, soothing and has antioxidant as well as antibacterial properties. Its wound healing power promotes collagen production and works to protect the skin barrier.
  • Heather Flower: Traditionally known for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It has a strong antioxidant benefit because of the presence of flavonoids. Also, a source of tannins which provides an astringent effect can help protect the skin from damage.
  • Yarrow Leaf: A natural anti-inflammatory, promotes the regeneration of skin cells. It soothes dry or irritated skin.
Now my skin, post-Covid is just a nightmare but it also doesn’t tolerate most products which contain Kaolin Clay, so knowing that this mask used it as an ingredient, I was ready with a sink of warm water, a muslin cloth and some Aloe Vera just in case my skin started to burn. It didn’t.  I can count on one hand the number of products I had use with Kaolin Clay as an ingredient, this being product number 3, conversely there is 7 products that I cannot use…

I love the putty like texture of this mask, dark green and murky and whilst it looks incredibly thick, it melts onto the skin pretty much as soon as it comes into contact, whereupon which, it is like a balm and a delight to use.  Once on the skin, this mask, which is designed to be used as part of a weekly routine, should be left it to work its magic for between 10-15 minutes and then remove with some warm water and a muslin cloth.

The Rhug website does state that there is the use of Jasmine Flower Oil, Neroli Oil, Ylang Ylang Oil alongside others and whilst there is a wonderful fresh scent there is a hint of earthiness which I found quite calming and definitely how I would expect the mask to smell, given its origin.

I love that this mask has been loving created in one of the most natural of ways and it is definitely on the pricey side at £75 but it is a delightful treat and it has made me want to try pretty much everything the brand has to offer - from the Skin Tonic to the Body Scrub to the Hyaluronic Serum, the entire range sounds absolutely wonderful.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Skies

If ever there was a fragrance that was so perfect for this weather we are enjoying right now, it is Marc Jacobs Daisy Skies and if you’re a fan of the Daisy fragrance range, then this you will need!
Marc Jacobs Daisy Skies
Inspired by the blue skies and warm sunshine, Daisy Skies is delightful. Packaged in a pale blue glass bottle with the iconic 3D acrylic daisies on the lid, it is reminiscent of the rest of
the fragrances in this range.
Fresh. Aquatic. Serene. Soothing and crisp like the breeze on a tranquil spring day. A scent inspired by the blue open sky and warm rays of sunshine.
The fragrance has top notes of Quince, Violet Leaves, Mineral Accord so it opens with a fresh light crispness with a hint of fruitiness as the heart notes of Lotus Flower, Natureprint, Jasmine and Violet which bring about the floral notes which sit at the heart of the fragrance as they intertwine with the fresh notes that open the fragrance to the base notes of Seaweed Abs, Musk and Sandalwood which keep this fragrance light, airy and brings together those floral and fruit notes.
Marc Jacobs Daisy SkiesAs well as being an absolutely stunning bottle, the fragrance is reminiscent of everything that you expect to be a sunny day with a. Right blue sky without a cloud in view. With a fresh, strong opening, as it dries down, Skies becomes a refreshing whilst also being light and airy.

If you like a fragrance which isn’t overbearing and whilst it lasts all day, for me, it smells exactly as I would imagine the sky to smell. It has all of the notes and for me, those floral notes make this an incredible fragrance.

Daisy Skies is available in a 50ml bottle and is priced at £64.
