Healing Bruises & Supporting Skin Recovery with SBC Skincare’s Arnica Gel & Prolagel

A few weeks ago, I experienced a pretty unexpected and painful trauma to my underarm (yes, it was as awful as it sounds — and if you're curious, I’ve included some photos below). Step 1: Arnica Gel – Daytime Relief & Soothing

What it is:

How I used it:

Applied it generously to the affected area 2–3 times during the day. It absorbed quickly, wasn’t sticky, and instantly soothed that deep, dull ache from the bruising.

Over a few days, I noticed the swelling start to reduce, and the dark purple tones faded faster than I expected.

It’s become a go-to for any general body soreness now — not just injury-related!

Step 2: Prolagel – Nighttime Recovery & Skin Firming

What it is:

A new addition to the SBC range, Prolagel is also a lightweight gel — but this one is focused on visibly firming, toning, and supporting areas with sagging or stretched skin. It’s packed with Proline, an amino acid that promotes collagen production — making it ideal for healing, post-weight-loss skin, or after pregnancy.

How I used it:

I applied Prolagel before bed, once the Arnica had fully absorbed. It helped keep the area moisturized overnight and supported the skin’s natural repair process.

Over a couple of weeks, the bruising had mostly faded, and the skin in that area felt firmer and looked smoother.

As you can see, over a short-period of time, things started to really improve and the end result is no bruise, no swelling and no marks left on the skin.

Is Aldi’s New Skincare Range a Tatcha Dupe? I Tried It to Find Out

Aldi’s New Japanese-Inspired Skincare Range: Tatcha Dupes for Just £4.99?

In the ever-growing world of skincare, budget-friendly dupes are always a hot topic — and Aldi has entered the chat once again. This time, they’ve launched a new Japanese-inspired skincare line under their Lacura brand, and beauty lovers are already comparing it to the luxury favourite, Tatcha.

I tried two of the standout products from the range: the Lacura Matcha Gel Wash and the Lacura Rice Cleanser, both retailing at an affordable £4.99. Here's how they performed.

Lacura Matcha Gel Wash – £4.99

From the moment I squeezed this out of the tube, I was impressed by the jelly-like texture — a trend that’s very much in right now. It felt cooling and refreshing on my fingertips, which instantly gave it that spa-like feel.

This cleanser is powered by willow bark (a natural source of salicylic acid that’s excellent for combating acne), matcha tea, and mugwort extract, a trio known for their soothing and revitalising properties. According to Aldi, it’s designed to revive tired, dull skin for a more radiant complexion — and it definitely gave my skin a much-needed refresh.

Once water was added, the cleanser foamed quickly and effortlessly broke down makeup, sunscreen, and daily grime. What I loved most was the transformation from foam to a light, milky lather. It rinsed off easily and left my skin feeling clean but not dry — a rare feat for a foaming wash.

My verdict: A fantastic daily cleanser for normal to oily skin, especially if you're after a gentle but effective wash that doesn’t strip your skin.

Lacura Rice Cleanser – £4.99

Next up was the Rice Cleanser, which is inspired by traditional Japanese skincare rituals using rice water and rice-based ingredients.

The texture surprised me — it’s much thicker than expected, more like a paste than a cream. It’s infused with rice powder, rice starch, and gluconolactone, a polyhydroxy acid that gently exfoliates the skin. Though slightly gritty in texture, it didn’t feel scratchy or harsh at all.

However, if you're hoping for a proper exfoliation experience, this might not quite deliver. The granules are fine and sparse, making it more of a gentle polish than a true exfoliator. That said, it's ideal for sensitive skin or those who prefer a very mild cleanse.

The formula also includes hyaluronic acid and rice ferment filtrate, ingredients known for their hydrating and skin-softening properties. While I didn’t notice a huge hydration boost immediately after washing, my skin didn’t feel tight — which is always a plus.

My verdict: A great second cleanse or morning wash. Don’t expect intense exfoliation, but it’s gentle, non-stripping, and good for sensitive skin types.

Final Thoughts

It’s no surprise that these Lacura products are already creating a buzz. They’re visually and conceptually reminiscent of Tatcha’s beloved range, but at a fraction of the price. While they may not completely replicate the luxury experience of the originals, they hold their own as effective, affordable skincare staples.

If you're after a glow-boosting, budget-friendly cleanse — or just want to dip your toe into Japanese-inspired skincare without the hefty price tag — these are definitely worth a try.

Skin Tag vs. Mole: How Can You Tell the Difference?

Noticed a new bump on your skin and are wondering what it is? You’re not alone. Every week, people walk into their local aesthetic clinic in Singapore or another country, asking the same question: “Is this a mole or just a skin tag?” Both are common, and both are usually harmless — but they’re not the same. And when it comes to skin tag removal or mole checks, knowing the difference helps you make the right call. Let’s break it down in plain English.

What Is a Skin Tag?

Skin tags are small, soft growths. They usually pop up in places where your skin folds or rubs — like your neck, underarms, eyelids, groin, or under your breasts.

They’re:

• Flesh-coloured or slightly darker

• Soft to the touch

• Connected to the skin by a thin stalk

Skin tags are completely harmless. They won’t turn cancerous, and they don’t usually cause pain. But they can be annoying — especially when they snag on clothes or jewellery. Some people also don’t like how they look.

If you want them gone, there are easy in-clinic treatments available. Options include cryotherapy (freezing), cauterization (burning), or simple removal with sterile tools.

What Is a Mole?

Moles are made up of pigmented cells called melanocytes. They’re common and can appear anywhere on the body. Some people are born with them, while others develop them over time, often due to sun exposure.

You can recognize moles by a few key features:

• Usually round or oval

• Can be flat or slightly raised

• Uniform in color, usually brown, black, or tan

• Typically smooth-edged

Most moles are also harmless. But unlike skin tags, some moles can become cancerous — which is why you should keep an eye on them.

So, How Can You Tell the Difference?

Skin tags and moles may seem similar, but they have distinct traits. Skin tags are usually small, soft, and flesh-coloured. They tend to appear in areas where the skin folds or rubs, like the neck, armpits, or underarms. They often dangle slightly from the skin and are connected by a thin stalk.

Moles, on the other hand, are usually more pigmented — ranging from light brown to dark brown or even black. They can be flat or raised, round or oval, and appear almost anywhere on the body. Moles tend to have a more solid structure and sit flush or slightly raised from the skin. The colour of moles is generally uniform, while skin tags usually match your natural skin tone.

When Should You See a Doctor?

While most skin tags and moles are harmless, it’s important to know when to see a doctor. If a mole changes in size, shape, or colour or starts to itch, bleed, or feel tender, it’s time to get it checked. Look out for uneven edges, multiple shades within the same spot, or sudden growth. These could be early signs of skin cancer.

Doctors often use the ABCDE method to evaluate moles — looking at asymmetry, border irregularities, colour changes, diameter, and evolution over time. Even if the change seems small, getting a professional opinion is always the safest route.

Final Thoughts

Skin tags are mostly cosmetic concerns. Moles, while often harmless, can occasionally signal something more serious. If you're unsure what you're dealing with — or just want it removed — talk to a qualified professional. A licensed aesthetic clinic can help you assess the spot, explain your options, and remove it safely if needed. Don’t second-guess your skin. When in doubt, get it checked. I love a bit of Vitamin C in my routine and I have really loved using this cream, it is moisturising and does hydrate the skin and better still, if you have wanted to try a Vitamin C Cream to add to your routine, this is a great place to start.

I love a good eye roll-on especially when there is a metal roller-ball involved because it is immediately cooing and soothing on the skin and does help with the de-puffing.

Now this is possibly my favourite product within this range.  I love how rich the cream is but it absorbs really quickly with minimal effort and as my skin loves Hyaluronic Acid, it was always going to be a favourite.

Finally we have the Anti-Ageing 1% Retinol + Squalane Complex Facial Serum.  For anyone who wants to try adding a Retinol into their routine, this is a gentle version to try as it is just 1%.  Retinol is perfect for those who want to target the loss of elasticity, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation but it can also be used for blemishes.

TikTok is a goldmine of skincare and beauty advice, where you can find everything from skincare recommendations to full-on tutorials. The great thing about TikTok recommendations is that they’re often based on experience and real results, making it easier to trust the advice given. The following products have become staples in many skincare routines and could be worth trying out for yourself. Here are six moisturising products TikTok users recommend.

I am only part way through my 4 week initial usage of this mask, so will update this post in due course. However, what I have noticed is a lot less redness and my skin looks less angry and annoyed, so I am looking forward to seeing what my skin is actually like after this initial process.
