Hersey & Son London Silversmith Zodiac Necklace

There are a lot of things I love about jewellery and if you give me the chance to create something, I am absolutely in my element.
Hersey & Son London Silversmith Zodiac Necklace
M. C. Hersey & Son Ltd is a Silversmiths workshop based in London manufacturing sterling silver tableware as well as jewellery and silver gifts. The founder of the company, Michael Hersey, established the business in 1971 having served 16 years as a silver spinner in Soho and Clerkenwell, starting as an apprentice at William Comyn's workshop in 1955. His son, Stewart, joined him in 1981 after training as a silversmith at The Sir John Cass School of Art, now part of London Guildhall University and at Grant Macdonald's workshop in Southwark.

When Hersey & Son Ltd got in contact to ask if I would like to create my own personalised necklace I jumped at the chance, anything that is personalised to me is always a winning and the combination of including my Zodiac sign makes it all the more special.  As I am a July baby, my starsign is Cancerian and if you are very much into reading your horoscopes and finding out what you are like, your personality traits and so on, I am very much the typical Cancerian.
Cancer, the crab symbol, is the Zodiac for people born between 21 June - 22 July. The nurturers of the Zodiac, Cancer's are tenaciously loyal and loving, nurturing and protective.
For my necklace I chose the Cancerian starsign which is the crab and with it the initial R for my first name followed by a ruby gemstone.
Hersey & Son London Silversmith Zodiac Necklace
My necklace came beautifully wrapped in a monogrammed box, with an accompanying cleaning cloth, something a lot of jewellery brands should take note of, because they are important and handy things to have.
Wear your Zodiac, Initial and Birthstone, or those of your loved ones; choose your favourite colour gemstone and match with an engraved locket; pick a moon or star pendant and pair it with the initials of your children and Zodiac of your husband. Sitting elegantly alongside each other, these pendants have been designed to fit together in a myriad of ways, so you can create your own story. A covetable gift that will be treasured for years to come.

This necklace is described as being designed in London and hand cast in Birmingham, these tactile sterling silver Zodiac pendants have a beaded edge and a Zodiac symbol intricately carved in relief. The back of the pendant is flat and suitable for engraving up to 25 characters, making these silver pendants a perfect gift.  The route to designing your perfect Zodiac pendant is incredibly easy with a guide to help through each step - choosing your chain length and then working through choosing your zodiac sign, whether or not you would like a birthstone and the charm being engraved and finally the choice of adding an initial to really make it personal.

Hersey & Son London Silversmith Zodiac Necklace
The whole necklace from the chain to the charm and even the initial is just stunning, it sits nice and flat against my chest, it isn't too too short, it is very shiny, the crab is almost 3D and when the necklace is worn, it stands on from the disc, the R initial isn't too big that it dominates the jewellery piece and I love the Ruby gemstone, something I don't have much of.

If you are looking for a gift this Christmas and want to add a personal touch, then I cannot recommend Hersey & Son London Silversmiths enough, whether the gift is for a child, a loved one, a friend or even a little gift for yourself, it is worth absolutely every penny.

Do you have any jewellery with your starsign featured on it?

Jana Reinhardt Jewellery - Penguin Necklace + Giveaway

One of my favourite parts to visit London Zoo is Penguin Beach.  To stand and watch the penguins go about their business, watch those of us who are enamoured with them and pose cheekily for photos like absolute pros to the delight of visitors.  Jana Reinhardt jewellery which is simply stunning and very much unique has managed to capture the characteristics of the Penguin so incredibly well, I just love this necklace and I hope you will too.
Jana Reinhardt Jewellery - Penguin Necklace + Giveaway

All of the jewellery is made entirely by hand using the old methods of fabrication and wax carving. Minute imperfections are embraced. Each piece is unique.   The Penguin teaches you about having grace when it comes to your actions and emotions. You possess the strength and the fortitude to live with and overcome struggles.  They teach us about having grace and strength and the fortitude to overcome struggles. They understand the concept of teamwork and utilise it regularly to get what they want.

All of the above are characterised within this Penguin Necklace, everything from the flippers to his tiny beak and even his eyes which grab your attention.  For me, I love that this necklace has been handcrafted here in the UK and as well as being available in 925 Sterling Silver, it is also available in 9ct or 16ct solid gold and platinum or 22ct yellow gold vermeil, as well as 18ct, rose gold vermeil.  The Penguin himself is measured at 15mm high and 11mm wide and it most certainly stands out when it sits on the accompanying necklace chain which is not only hand polished to a high shine but the chain is also adjustable, so there is the ability to change how high or low the Penguin sits.

Nude Jewellery - Rose Quartz Gemstone Vanilla Link Pendant

I love buying pieces of jewellery as gifts, whether it is a charm for a bracelet, some earrings or even something more lavish like a watch that the mister has had his eye on. I love to receive jewellery as a gift because I think it is one of those items that someone has to have put some thought into purchasing for you, there must be a reason it caught their eye and made them think of you. New to my collection is this stunning Rose Quartz Vanilla Link Pendant from Nude Jewellery and it is just absolutely stunning, I haven't taken it off since it arrived.
Nude Jewellery Presentation Box

If you have never come across them before, Nude Jewellery is a UK based jewellers who handmake all of their pieces, something they are incredibly and should rightly be, proud of.  They launched in 2001 and the main aim of Nude Jewellery was to provide its customers with nothing but the best in independent design jewellery and to do that, the collections are designed by award-winning jewellery designer Nikki Galloway and her in-house jewellers, and many of the Nude Jewellery pieces are only available on their website and not anywhere else.  What I love about the website is that everything is so clearly laid out and there is just so much to see, as well as having the option to create your own bespoke design, which I really like the idea of.

I was very kindly sent the Nude Jewellery Rose Quartz Gemstone Vanilla Link Pendant (£95) and it is just absolutely stunning, definitely a wow moment when I opened the box that is for sure.
Nude Jewellery - Rose Quartz Gemstone Vanilla Link Pendant
Nude Jewellery - Rose Quartz Gemstone
Nude Jewellery snake chain necklace
Nude Jewellery snake chain clasp
The Nude Jewellery Rose Quartz Gemstone Vanilla Link Pendant is a delicate handmade, hand textured hammered link hanging from a sleek silver snake chain embellished with a beautiful rough cut pale pink rose quartz gemstone which is roughly 25mm in length. The necklace chain is available in three different chain lengths; 16″, 18″ and 20" and my necklace sits on an 18" chain and is just the perfect length for how I like my necklaces to sit and it has a clasp closure which is easy to open and close.

I have put the Rose Quartz gemstone against the red berries of my Christmas decoration so that you can see just how beautifully pink the Rose Quartz gemstone is and I love that it is such a delicate colour.  I love reading about gemstones and it seems Rose Quartz is no ordinary gemstone if you believe or are interested in the healing powers of crystals, then you might be aware that the Rose Quartz is often referred to as 'The Love Stone' and this is because it sends off strong vibrations of love, happiness, warmth, and emotional health. It is also said to help with lowering stress and tension in the heart and that Rose Quartz clears out anger, jealousy, and resentment of others, and allows the healing of heart issues, to name just a few of the healing powers.

I absolutely love this pendant, it is just so beautiful and one I will get a lot of wear out of. It is the type of pendant that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. You can check out the rest of the unique Nude Jewellery designs here and I would love to know if anything catches your attention!

Bradbury’s The Jewellers

When it comes to buying Jewellery for someone, be it a loved one, a friend, a work colleague or even for yourself, for me, there are elements of that experience which matter and that is whether you are buying someone online or in person in a shop.  Bradbury's The Jewellers can be found in the West Yorkshire town of Halifax, it is an independent family run business who take pride in everything they do and that includes bringing traditional values in customer service, honesty and value.  The store is home to some of the most premier brands that you will have come across - Links of London, Michael Kors, Thomas Sabo, Folie Folie and many more.

I was kindly gifted a beautiful Coeur De Lion Peach Crystal Bangle and the wow factor began as soon as I had opened the outer packaging.  As I said, there are elements of that shopping experience which matter and Bradbury's have all of that -  the eye for detail, the thought process and the love and care that goes into ensuring a gift looks as good on the outside as it does on the inside.  Beautifully wrapped in rose gold paper with an accompanying ribbon, neatly bowed, there was no giveaway as to what was inside, there was no view of any cellotape or other fastenings and someone had clearly taken the time and effort to ensure everything was just right.
Bradbury’s The Jewellers - Packaging
Coeur de Lion
Coeur De Lion jewellery is handmade in Germany and it is a brand I know a little about through a relative of mine who adores the Geocube design on some of the jewellery pieces. Behind the brand, which has just celebrated 30 years in the business, we have Carola Eckrodt and it is her love of materials that must be versatile, hard wearing and enduring which brings to life a whole host of beautiful statement pieces of jewellery, all of which is made by hand.

Putting together both Coeur de Lion and Bradbury's the Jewellers, you have two brands that complement and match each with the love for what they do, the love that goes into the process of ensuring the end result is perfect and one to whom the little details matter.

The Coeur de Lion Peach Crystal Pave Stone Set Bangle is made of stainless steel with crystals in a pavé setting and an integrated click closure.  opening the box, you find the bangle sitting on a pure white silk cushion. This modern bangle has a highly polished finish and is enhanced by two glistening rows of peach coloured crystals which add a glamorous sparkle.

Coeur de Lion at Bradbury's
I am a big fan of shopping online, the ease of everything being in front of me, the lack of queuing and no tripping over baskets winning me over. That said, a website has to be easy to navigate around and thankfully the website for Bradbury's Jewellery is incredibly crisp and clean. There aren't a billion pop-ups to interfere with browsing, there is also the ability to look closely at individual pieces of jewellery is amazing, the detail is there to see, the images are clean and of high resolution, this is down below with the photograph of the bracelet I have.

Bradbury’s The Jewellers Coeur de Lion Bangle

Every page loads quickly, the important points are visible - price, what the item is, when it will be dispatched and whether or not you would like gift wrapping.  I have spent quite some time looking around the website whilst writing this review and might have already put one or two things in my shopping basket!  If you are looking for jewellery gifts, then I would recommend having at a look at what Bradbury's have to offer, there are so many beautiful items.

Christmas with Buckley London

Giving Jewellery as a gift is quite special, especially at Christmas and I do love to gift some statement pieces if I see something I really like.  Buckley London is a Costume Jewellery Brand which was established back in 1989. Every Buckley London piece is designed in the UK by an in-house team of designers, creating unique twists on the latest fashion trends, whilst remaining true to the brand’s British heritage and trademark quality. Buckley London has an ever-growing global presence and currently supplies over 600 retail outlets worldwide including 300 high street stores, 140 airlines, 100 airports and over 80 cruise ships.
Christmas with Buckley London
This Christmas, Buckley London have quite an extensive range of gifts which are described as being fun and affordable and I would be more than happy to see these gifts hanging from my Christmas Tree.

The first item is this beautifully themed Ladies Christmas Cracker which is made from white sturdy cardboard which features a Reindeer and Christmas Tree theme in gold detail. Fastened either end with a black ribbon and gift tag.
Buckley London Cracker Bracelet
Inside the cracker is a silver-toned mesh bracelet featuring a delicate heart charm set with over 20 shimmering crystals. I have a few of these bracelets and I love that they are stretchy so they would fit any size wrist.  It comes wrapped in a silver organza bag as a nice little extra.

The second product is the Christmas Bauble Sparkle Pendant and I absolutely love this for a gift idea. Arriving in a box so you could wrap it up as a gift, or you could remove it from the box and hang it on the tree, which I really like the idea of doing.
Buckley London Bauble Bracelet

Inside the Bauble is a really beautiful pendant and it features a brilliant-cut Cubic Zirconia stone which is suspended from silver tone chain. I really love the simplicity of this necklace and it is one which will suit absolutely anyone of any age as it is an absolute classic. It also comes wrapped inside a silver organza bag.

Priced at just £12 these gifts are incredible value for money and you can find these and the rest of the collection right here on the Buckley London website - HERE as well as instore at House of Fraser and World Duty Free. Baubles can also be purchased from Argos and gift crackers can be purchased from QVC.

Thomas Sabo Jewellery - Sterling Silver Collection

On a day to day basis, I tend to wear minimal jewellery, often just my wedding and engagement rings and maybe a pair of earrings, I am not someone who likes to be covered in bling. One brand I do absolutely love is Thomas Sabo, a brand who I feel best represents my personality and whom I go to when I buying presents and gifts for family and friends. The Thomas Sabo Slogan being - Unconventional, Contemporary and Vintage

A few months back I reviewed the Cancerian Charm Necklace (here) which I have had so many comments on because it is just stunning. Today I am back with more Thomas Sabo Jewellery from their Rebel At Heart Collection which I was kindly gifted.

Thomas Sabo Jewellery - Sterling Silver Collection
Whenever you go into Thomas Sabo, or look online, there is aways something to The Rebel At Heart Collection which is described as being Extravagant and Expressive and for the Rock 'n' Roll Soul. The Sterling Silver Collection, which is where ive selected pieces from and it is a collection that is all about variety. There are different ranges for both men and women and it is a collection which caters for all styles and tastes. Whether you want engravable pieces and stunning earring, statement skull rings and mystical Karma Beads, there is something for everyone and every taste! The one difficulty is choosing my favourite items and it did take several days agonising what I liked the look of the most, but eventually, I settled on the following:

The first item I chose comes from the Silver Bracelet selection with the Black Classic Pave Bracelet (£98) and again, it is just stunning. I have quite small wrists, so usually end up having bracelets re-sized to fit, but this one is an adjustable bracelet, featuring a lobster clasp and it didn't need any altering at a
ll.
Thomas Sabo Jewellery - Sterling Silver Collection

Along the chain, there is three circle Thomas Sabo discs and within each one is 7 sparkling stones, which are black in colour and again work really well against the silver discs, all of which have the words Thomas Sabo inscribed onto them. Again, this bracelet can be worn for both a casual everyday event or it can be dressed up for a more formal occasion.  I have worn it on both occasions and it always gets comments.

The second item I chose from the Earrings for women section is these Royalty Black Ear Stud (£49). I have really small ears, so I always opt for earrings which don't emphasise how small they are, so no large hoops or anything that dangles too low.
Thomas Sabo Jewellery - Sterling Silver Collection

What stood out to me when choosing these earrings is the design, unlike anything else I own and quite striking in design, the description reads as follows:

The cross motif of these ear studs impresses with vintage charm, which really comes into its own thanks to the artistically worked engravings, stone embellishment and blackened Sterling silver.

The cross motif with the black stone embellishments work really well with the bracelet featured above and when worn together make quite the pair. Sitting on 925 Sterling Silver with push back clasps they feature handcrafted precision details and because they are quite dainty, the black stones make them stand out.  If my jewellery doesn't feature skulls then somewhere there is usually always a cross and these fit in perfectly with my style and personality.

The final item I chose is in keeping with the other two items and it is this Silver Necklace called the Sterling Silver Glam & Soul Royalty Star Necklace (£119) which is just stunning to look at.  The Glam & Soul Range is described as being a collection which is made up of versatile women’s jewellery and watches perfect for all styles and occasions and it includes a wide range of necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings. So whether you want simple yet stylish or something a little more of a statement, then this is the collection for you.

I chose this necklace because I love the simplicity of the chain, but the statement made by the Star, as soon as I saw it on the screen, it jumped out at me.
Thomas Sabo Jewellery - Sterling Silver Collection
This necklace has been preciously handcrafted and the star pendant, which is a glittering cubic zirconia embellishment, is fitted onto a length-adjustable chain with a lobster clasp as well as white charm carrier, so at any point in time, you can swap and change your pendant. This necklace also comes with the description:
"The magic of the jewellery item is created by the combination of vintage design language and sparkling stone embellishment".
Sitting on a chain which is around 45cm in length, hangs below the neckline and sits flat against the chest and what I really love is how easy this is to wear for a formal or casual occasion, it is totally flattering and shines prettily in daylight.

Keeping the presentation of the jewellery stunning, all Thomas Sabo products are perfectly presented in Thomas Sabo packaging with a gift bag and box.
Thomas Sabo Jewellery - Sterling Silver Collection
Thomas Sabo guarantees the entire range of branded products with a full warranty, covering manufacturing and material defaults for a period of up to two years from the date of purchase.

I would love to know if you have ever purchased anything from Thomas Sabo, or whether anything from their new releases has caught your attention.

Thomas Sabo Jewellery - Zodiac Charm Pendant

I have mentioned on a few occasions that I don't really wear much jewellery on a day to day basis, whatever I do wear has to capture my mood. My staple items are always my wedding and engagement rings, which I never take off but I will sometimes wear a necklace or bracelet if the mood takes me.
One brand of Jewellery that I do adore is Thomas Sabo and over the years I have added charms to my bracelets and extended my collection slightly.  Just a week or so ago, I went along to the annual cocktail party which was just incredible. I am always made to feel really welcome and alongside the most amazing canapes and cocktails, you get the chance to explore the jewellery in the South Molton Street Thomas Sabo Store.

I am usually lusting after some of the skull rings that are on offer, delicate on design and in keeping with the Thomas Sabo Slogan - Unconventional, Contemporary and Vintage. At the event, I was kindly gifted a Zodiac Charm which is just stunning and oddly, not something I have ever owned before.  My own starsign is Cancerian, so naturally, I went for the crab.
Thomas Sabo Jewellery
As you can see, not only does the box within which the jewellery comes in is just stunning and I love how the black and white stripes work with the yellow colour of the drawer.  The silver disc upon which the sign of the crab sits is incredibly shiny and the crab takes on a 3D figure as it sits slightly raised and at the top of the pendant is a lobster clasp which is fitted onto to a Charm Carrier, this means that should I choose to move the pendant to another necklace or bracelet I can do with ease and equally if I choose to add additional charms, I can do that too.

I chose to have a slightly longer oxidised chain which hangs down over my chest rather than around my neck and I like that it is quite delicate, so it doesn't take away from the pendant. I also chose to have the pendant engraved with my initials, something that each Thomas Sabo store does and you can also add it to your order online.

The Charm Pendant retails for £69.00 and it would make an amazing gift for absolutely anyone. I like the option of being able to move the charm or add charms to the existing pendant.

Are you a Thomas Sabo jewellery fan?

AnimalStone Jewellery - Cecil The Lion

I don't wear a lot of jewellery, I am not someone who loves to be covered in bling, it just isn't me. I like my jewellery to have a meaning to it and other than my wedding and engagement rings, it is rare that on a day to day basis I would wear much else. I do sometimes wear a bracelet or my earrings if I remember, leaving everything else for special occasions.
AnimalStone Jewellery - Cecil The Lion
AnimalStone is a purveyor of luxury animal-inspired jewellery and is a company who was founded on the principle that animals have shared this planet with us since time immemorial. I absolutely love animals, I have three cats and an aquarium full of tropical fish, my dream would be to have my very own cattery to take care of unloved and unwanted kitties, but for that, I need a very big lottery win. When Delane Cooper and I reconnected over Instagram, it was such a delight to Facetime with her and catch up, I first met Delane many years ago when I started blogging and she has since relocated to Toronto. Delane is an incredible jewellery designer, goldsmith and artist who expresses her creativity by making beautiful pieces that are accompanied by a story for the wearer. So Delane and I had a chat about the piece of jewellery she would make for me, we chatted for quite some time about personal memories, home life, my job, blogging, life, death and of course animals.

After our chat, Delane set about choosing an animal she thought best represented me and arriving a few weeks later came Cecil the Lion who was selected for me because of its meaning:
  • Strength
  • Personal Power
  • Wisdom
  • Courage
  • Justice
The description which accompanies Cecil the Lion is "May you roar into action knowing that you have the courage to accomplish anything you want. Go beyond the sanctuary, explore the savannah and establish yourself as the peaceful warrior in your world". Explaining why Cecil was chosen Delane said:
When I had asked you your three animals, you selected cat as your answer each time. Though your answer broad but probably meant domestic cat vs the wildcat, I chose our Lion because it resonated with me as to who you are. The personal power you exhibit with every communication you put out into the world is clear and comes through only because of the personal strength you exhibit.
When you shared the story of your nanny and the neighbour’s cat, I sensed that there is a deep respect and quiet connection with cats that you have. Even a fellow cat lover will never know the personal connection you have with these animals.
I believe it takes courage to put yourself out there with every post you do to be in the public eye sharing your opinion/recommendations. Just as a lion must go out into the open and claim his territory or a female lion going out for the hunt to supply the pride with food.
Whether domestic or wild, cats are full of mystery, magic and independence. The domestic cat gets its energy from the night where as the lion represents sun energy and the cycle of power year round.  May you wear Cecil the Lion as a reminder that you possess personal power/strength/courage and may he balance your energies when called upon when you are not able to visit the seashore.
At the time of speaking with Delane over the Facetime, I had no idea she would have listened to so much of what I was said.  When I am feeling stressed and a bit out of kilter with myself, the one place that makes me feel relaxed is anywhere near water - even the bath and I think this is perhaps why I enjoy bathing as much as I do.  I am never more calm than I am when I am near to the sea, just listening to the sea or the waves crashing is an instant soothing experience.
AnimalStone Jewellery - Cecil The Lion

AnimalStone Jewellery - Cecil The Lion
When I opened the box with the beautifully packaged necklace inside, nothing quite prepares you for seeing something so amazing that has been created for you, it was and still is quite simply breathtaking to see.  The features of Cecil the Lion being so lifelike with every intrinsic detail there to see, the design of the mane, the eyes and even the detail on the paws is incredible.  It is such an honour to be the recipient of something so beautiful and something so meaningful. I love that Cecil is 3D shaped which adds a specialness to the necklace which is so shiny and stands out that I've been asked many times where I got my necklace from and I am always so happy to tell the story of how Cecil came into my life.

Sitting on this beautiful wheat chain, what I love is how wearable this necklace is, whether it is for everyday wear, a special occasion or even just because you feel the need to be wearing him, it works. I love the circle of life clasp which means you can take him from the chain and wear him in other ways - on a bracelet or even a keychain for example.

Whilst I received this as a gift, there are a lot of other animals available and depending on what it is you feel best represents you, some of my favourites include Rex the T-Rex, Kai the Sea Turtle and Mei Yu the Panda Bear all of which can be found here in the store.

ADEXE THEY - Grande Silver & Blue Watch + Giveaway

Watches are an item of jewellery I tend not to bother with, I have slim wrists and don’t like watches that have too heavy a face or a fake leather strap, but I do need to have another option to my iPhone to tell the time.  Adexe describes itself as being the non-conformist brand which differentiates itself from the mass-produced competitors, by offering traditional quality and luxury, but invoking contemporary minimalism. Vertically integrated under one roof.  With one mission in mind: “Create Finely Crafted, Uniquely Appointed Timepieces at Affordable Prices”.  I love that everything is designed and manufactured in-house here in London and the story behind the brand is one worth reading.

ADEXE THEY - Grande Silver & Blue Watch
Just before Christmas ADEXE let me choose any watch I liked from their site and I was immediately drawn towards called THEY - Grande Silver & Blue. With its blue face and mesh strap detail, it is just a beautiful watch and has quite a few features which include:
Classic Multifunction dial: Day - Date - Second
  • Case material: Hand-Polished All Stainless Steel
  • Case size: 41mm diameter
  • Band Width: 20 mm
  • Glass: Curved Hardened Crystal
  • Straps: Hand-Polished Stainless Steel Mesh
  • Waterproof: 3 ATM
  • Movement: Japanese Miyota VD76
  • Battery: 2 - 3 years
A non-gendered watch it can be worn by absolutely anyone and everyone and has been featured in GQ Magazine. On the wrist it sits absolutely flat against my skin and is so comfortable and light to wear, I almost forget it is there. It is easy to fasten and undo with one hand and the watch face itself is every bit as stunning as the photo which drew me in.

I like that the watch not only tells you time but it does so in a manner which makes looking at it without my glasses easy to do. As well as the time there are three smaller dials which tell you the day of the week, the date and the second, so quite the functional watch. Add to that the silver mesh strap means it goes with every possible outfit whether you are dressed up or down and best of all, it doesn’t tick overly loudly, in fact it is quieter than I had expected it to be.

As you can tell I am absolutely delighted with this watch and have really enjoyed wearing it. Priced at £149 it isn’t going to break the bank and I have a 15% off code if you fancy ordering a watch from ADEXE for yourself or a loved one, all you be to do is add the code GIFTOFTIME15 to your basket!

I also have a competition to win any watch of your choice and all you need to do use complete the Rafflecopter widget below and ensure you complete all of the mandatory entries otherwise your entry will become null and void.  Please also ensure that you are aged 16 and over or have parental permission to enter and finally please note that there is no cash alternative.
