Murad Blemish Control Daily Clarifying Peel

Whenever there is a new release from Dr Murad and his ever-growing range of products, it always manages to grab my attention. The latest launch is one I have been using for some time now and it is the Murad Blemish Control Daily Clarifying Peel.
Murad Blemish Control Daily Clarifying Peel
Described as being a product which combines three industry-lauded ingredients into one do-it-all formula, Murad’s hard-working Daily Clarifying Peel is a must for smooth, even skin. Sounds impressive right? Well it is. This Clarifying Peel is absolutely 100% alcohol-free and those three ingredients that have been mentioned are:
  • glycolic acid (an alpha hydroxy acid, or AHA for short) to exfoliate dulling surface cells, stimulate collagen and treat hyper-pigmentation which in turn results in a radiant, even complexion
  • salicylic acid (a beta hydroxy acid, also known as a BHA) to remove pore-clogging debris resulting in a reduction of blackheads, blemishes and redness
  • a gentle retinoid to encourage cell turnover and smooth skin and stimulate collagen to plump, firm and even-out complexion
Working together that trio is really quite something, but in an effort to stop your skin from feeling stripped, dry, taut or even sore to the touch, this formula also uses avocado extract which works to moisturise, balance and reduce shine.

As you can imagine, this Clarifying peel is perfect for balanced, oily, combination and dry skin types, which I firmly sit right in the middle with my combination oily/dry skin.  Designed for use in an evening, this bi-phase peel blends when shaken mixes together all of those hero ingredients in an effort to improve your skin without sending it into a state of imbalance, making it really unhappy - something I always try my best to do!

To use, you need to ensure your skin is freshly cleansed and then dispense onto a cotton pad, preferably a reusable one and then swipe over the face, neck and your chest, but do not rinse.  I use this once or twice a week depending on how I think my skin feels to the touch and as always when using a product like this, not that the point should really need labouring, but use an SPF the following morning, as you should be doing anyway.

My skin has been pretty awful in the run up too and during my bout of Covid19, I knew I had a cold on the way because the tell-tale sign of a tingling lip of a cold sore, which I managed to ward off, followed by an attack of migraines and then a positive PCR test. So I had dry skin around my nose, my forehead and under my chin, layering on the oils and not over-exfoliating, despite the urge too, this Peel came in really handy, especially under my chin, where it is rare I get any issues at all.  Within a few uses over a few weeks, that dryness has gone, I still have a slight bit around my nose, but then my skin is not a fan of wearing a mask anyway, but on the whole an impressive product that ticks boxes without stinging or tingling and of course, also without adding further irritation to the skin.

The Murad Blemish Control Daily Clarifying Peel is priced at £33 and can be found via Murad, Cult Beauty, ASOS and Lookfantastic to name just a few.
