L’Oréal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum

I am very much still wearing tinted serums rather than foundations currently and the last addition to my collection was kindly gifted to me by L'Oreal. The True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum is said to unite skincare and makeup with this innovative blend.  I have used a few similar products to this, one being from Revolution and other from Typology, so I was intrigued to see which I preferred.

This L’Oreal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum is available in nine different shades, which for many won't be inclusive and L'Oreal does claim that each shade does cater for 99% of UK skin tones and whilst I suspect there will never be that shade for everyone, I do think brands have finally put more thought and research into the shades they offer.
Discover NEW True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum with 1% Hyaluronic Acid. The perfect match of skincare and makeup - this innovative formula combines the benefits of a skincare serum with the radiance and coverage of a foundation.
With 9 super blendable shades this sheer formula is able to easily blend on to a variety of skintones, leaving skin with a naturally luminous finish for a flawless nude look.
The no makeup, makeup trend is one I am most definitely a fan of, I like that natural, fresh skin look rather than that caked on, unnatural look that I was probably too big a fan of in my teens - foundation a few shades too dark, over lined eyes, thinly tweezed brows, yep we have all been there.  Now, as I have matured (lol) I am very much less is more.

This L'Oreal Paris True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum, is a serum which uses the plumping power of Hyaluronic Acid Serum with the coverage of a foundation. Lightweight in texture and definitely more serum-like than foundation, I was sent shade 0.5-2 Very Light.  Whenever I am shade matched for a foundation, it is very rare that I move out of the lightest shade bracket, unless I have caught the sun.

L’Oreal have the following shades;

  • 0.5-2 Very Light
  • 2-3 Light
  • 3-4 Light – Medium
  • 4-5 Medium
  • 5-6 Medium – Tan
  • 6-7 Tan
  • 7-8 Tan – Deep
  • 8-10 Deep
  • 10.5-11 Rich Deep
Sitting inside a glass bottle, the Tinted serum clearly does have luminous particles within its formula and the serum is dispensed with the use of a pipette, which I either apply using my fingers and buff with a brush, or apply with a beauty  blender.  This serum is designed to instantly brighten the skin as well to even and hydrate and as it does conceal and hydrate all in one to create that natural, soft dewy look.

It does give a light to medium coverage to the skin and it does a really good job at blurring some imperfections, so if like me you suffer with a slight redness to the cheeks, it does help to conceal those really well.  The swatches shown above are unedited, so you can see what the shade looks like when it first comes out of the bottle, then as I blend it and finally as it is blended onto my skin, with the bottom photo swatches.

What I love is that you could use this Tinted Serum with or without a primer.  For me, if I am wanting to get out of the door in double quick time, I apply it as I would a serum without anything else and it lasts most of the day on my skin, fading slightly around the nose and cheeks first.  If I have a bit more time, I will prime and then apply before finishing with a loose powder to keep that mid-afternoon shine as much at bay as I can.

I mentioned earlier in this post that I had tried similar products from both Revolution and Typology, the latter being my absolute favourite and it still is. The difference for me between Typology and this L’Oréal serum is application and how my skin feels when using, though both have a dropper dispenser which is annoying to use.

This L’Oréal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum is widely available online via LookfantasticBoots and Superdrug where it ranges in price from £11 up to £13.99.
