Yepoda The Calm Balm: A Gentle Start to Your Skincare Routine

There’s something very satisfying about taking your makeup off at the end of the day, particularly when you have a cleansing balm that turns the process into a little skincare ritual.
Yepoda The Calm Balm: A Gentle Start to Your Skincare Routine
Yepoda The Calm Balm (£21 here) is an olive and coconut oil cleansing balm designed as the first step in your skincare routine. It’s made to melt away makeup and impurities while leaving skin feeling clean and comfortable rather than stripped.

And, as someone who loves a good cleansing balm, this one immediately caught my attention.

What is Yepoda The Calm Balm?

The Calm Balm is an oil-based cleansing balm that works as Step 1 of your routine. The texture starts as a solid balm before melting as it comes into contact with the skin, helping to break down makeup, sunscreen and everyday grime.

It contains olive and coconut oils, giving it a nourishing feel while helping to
cleanse the skin.

I particularly like using a balm as my first cleanse because it makes removing makeup feel much less like a chore. Rather than rubbing at mascara or foundation with cotton pads, you can gently massage the balm over the skin and allow it to do the work.

A Calm Evening Ritual

Yepoda has designed The Calm Balm around the idea of making your skincare routine feel like a moment of self-care rather than something you have to rush through.

The packaging itself has a lovely, calming aesthetic, with the soft green jar and natural-looking cardboard box. Even the little icons on the packaging distinguish between Good Morning and Good Night, with The Calm Balm clearly positioned as part of that evening routine.

And I think the name is particularly fitting.

After a long day, cleansing your face is often the first step towards switching off. Taking a couple of minutes to massage in a cleansing balm feels much more relaxing than simply wiping your makeup away and moving on.

How I Use It

I take a small amount of The Calm Balm and massage it directly onto dry skin.

As you work it into the skin, the balm melts down into an oil, helping to loosen makeup and impurities. I then add a little water to emulsify the balm before rinsing thoroughly.

It leaves skin feeling clean and soft, ready for the rest of my evening skincare routine.

As this is a first-step cleanser, I would follow it with a second cleanser if you're double cleansing, particularly in the evening when you're removing a full face of makeup and SPF.

Olive & Coconut Oil

The combination of olive oil and coconut oil is what gives this cleansing balm its nourishing character.

Olive oil is rich in fatty acids and is commonly used in skincare for its moisturising and conditioning properties, while coconut oil is known for its emollient qualities.

Together, they make sense in an oil-based cleansing product where the aim is to dissolve makeup and impurities while helping to avoid that tight, uncomfortable feeling that can sometimes follow cleansing.

The Verdict

Yepoda The Calm Balm has turned cleansing into something that feels much more like a ritual than a necessary first step.

I love the idea behind it: melt away the day, cleanse your skin and create a little moment of calm before moving on with the rest of your skincare routine.

The olive and coconut oil formula gives it a nourishing feel, while the balm texture makes removing makeup and SPF feel effortless. I also really like the calming green packaging — it fits perfectly with the whole concept.

If you're a fan of cleansing balms and enjoy a slower, more indulgent evening skincare routine, The Calm Balm is definitely one to add to your radar.

Step one: remove the day. Step two: relax.
