How to Set Up an Online International Beauty and Makeup Business

Looking to turn your passion for beauty and makeup into an international business? It might be easier than you think.

These days, it’s easy to set up your own business from the comfort of your own home. While you will need some supplies, setting up a beauty and makeup business is a relatively inexpensive and simple task. Here, you’ll discover how to set up an online beauty and makeup business internationally.

Know what products you’re going to sell
One of the first things you’ll need to figure out before setting up your beauty and makeup store, is which type of products you’re going to sell. The beauty industry is extremely competitive, which means you’re going to need to stand out if you want to succeed.

Try to avoid selling products that are already easy to come by. Instead, identify unique beauty trends you could potentially capitalise on. For example, specialising in makeup for fair skin, or focusing on vegan makeup is going to set you apart from your competitors.

Develop a website
Once you know what type of products you’re going to sell, it’s time to set up a website. You can either build one yourself for free, or you could hire a designer to create one for you.

When you’re just starting out, free websites are the better option. You can create a simple shop profile too on popular sites such as Etsy. This is where your customers will find you and ultimately buy your products. Be aware that some free websites don’t allow you to create shopping pages. So, if you do want to sell directly through your website, you may need to have one professionally designed.

Establish relationships with suppliers
If you want to make the most profit from your business, you’ll need to make sure you have great relationships built with your suppliers. Compare different suppliers such as wholesalers and couriers to ensure you’re getting the cheapest prices. Sites such as Parcel2Go can help you identify the cheapest couriers. Don’t be afraid to negotiate with suppliers too as this can make the costs more affordable.

These are just the basics of setting up a beauty and makeup business. Remember, when setting up internationally, you’ll need to factor in the costs of shipping. You’ll also need a courier who delivers internationally. Once you’ve got your store set up, you can focus on marketing yourself to draw in new customers.
