Michael Bublé Pour Homme

This Sunday, 17th June, is Fathers Day and if you haven't yet grabbed that gift, then don't panic because Michael Bublé is coming to the rescue.  Sadly, he won't be coming to serenade your Father, husband, partner, boyfriend etc... but he does have a brand new fragrance that is available right now.

Aftershaves are not quite my thing, but lucky for you, I happen to be married to Beautykinguk and he has a bit of an obsession with aftershaves and fragrances, so being the good wife that I am, I have insisted he wears Michael Bublé Pour Homme for the last few weeks and then tell me (and you) what he thinks!
Michael Buble Pour Homme
When it comes to celebrity fragrances I tend to steer well clear, they often smell cheap and nasty and I'm convinced (with zero evidence to back up this feeling) that more often than not it's just cheap stuff whacked in a bottle and flogged to the gullible. I've had to kind of reassess this after being asked by the wife to review Michael Bublé  Pour Homme.

At £39 for a 70ml bottle or £55 for 100ml, this I think sits in the mid-range for aftershaves - anything over £60 and I take a serious whiff of it before forking out my own cash. The attractiveness of the bottle, with its sharp angles and lines, are said to have been inspired by the microphone with the shade of blue being a reference to Buble himself and his choice of suit.

MB Pour Homme is described as a rich signature scent for the sophisticated modern gentleman. The notes to Pour Homme are:
  • Head: Grapefruit, bergamot and pink pepper
  • Heart: Geranium, neroli and blond wood
  • Dry-down: Patchouli, sandalwood and musk
Almost as soon as this left the bottle I was in love with the fragrance - it's unique, fresh and has a depth of fragrance that sits right in the middle of the Woody Spicy fragrance familyThe freshness of the citrusy notes really make this fragrance for me and blended with the Patchouli, you have a fragrance which takes you from day to night and one which is suitable for absolutely any man in your life.

My only question is, if you've sold 55 million albums worldwide, why would you branch out into aftershave? You can't be short of a few quid. The many questions that run through my head aside, this is a lovely fragrance that isn't too heavy or warm on the nose. If you are looking for something a little unique this summer then you can do a lot worse than this. In terms of celebrity aftershaves and fragrances, this stands head and shoulders above any other I've had the chance to sniff at.

Perfect for any occasion, this is one where throughout the day you'll close your eyes and think "mmm, yes, this is actually a good fragrance" and you'll be feeling good.

Mii Cosmetics Luscious Lip Sheen

Until now, I have never come across Mii Cosmetics so this delivery of two of the new releases was a welcome surprise. Mii pronounced 'Me' is a brand who believes that beauty is often simply about having the confidence to be yourself. Having taken the feedback from thousands of women who use beauty salons to develop a totally new range of makeup. One that makes you feel beautiful whoever you are. Giving you the confidence to create a look that is unique, completely, unmistakably you.
Mii Cosmetics Luscious Lip Sheen
With a range of products for the face, eyes, lips and cheeks as well as brushes and other beauty tools, the latest release of the Luscious Lip Sheens, of which there are four - Pamper, Indulge, Relish and Delectable, they are described as being full coverage, lightweight and nourishing.

I am quite fussy when it comes to a lip gloss because anything that is tacky or sticky on the lips, equally I don't like glosses to feel too heavy either, so these glosses from Mii don't do either of those which was a nice surprise.

Enriched with Avocado Oil and Shea Butter not only does the formula work to nourish your lips, but they are incredibly moisturising too and because the formula is pigmented, glossy but also balm like, you get a product which is long-lasting too.

I have shades Indulge and Delectable which comes neatly packaged inside hard-wearing plastic tubes from which you can see both of the shades.  Indulge is a really lovely everyday nude which works on its own or over the top of a pinky nude lipstick and Delectable is a peachy pink shade which again works well on its own or you can use it alongside a pink toned lipstick.

I really like both of these shades and I like that they are comfortable to wear, don't start or end being tacky and sticky one applied and the option of being able to wear the gloss on its own or with a lipstick is also a plus for me.  Priced at £15 you can find these Lip Sheens and the rest of the collection from Mii Cosmetics here.

Glossybox French Riviera Box

For the June edition, Glossybox takes on a French Riviera theme and it, they bring to you the most perfect summer essentials.  As we are lucky enough to bask in a few days of sunshine here in the UK, this box could not have arrived at a better time, even if you are not lucky enough to be heading off somewhere hot on your holidays.
Glossybox French Riviera Box

First out of the box this month from Laritzy Cosmetics, a brand that has appeared in a few beauty boxes of late is a product called Shade Stix (Full-Size £18). Laritzy is a French-Canadian brand who pride themselves on being cruelty-free and this product is described as being a bit of a multi-tasker.

Said to make the perfect bronzer, it has a buildable cream formula which is highly pigmented and long lasting. To use, you simply swipe it across where you want it to go and then blend with either your fingers or a beauty blender.  For me, it is a little too dark for my skin tone, but I was pleasantly surprised at how lightweight it felt on the skin.

Up next is the Novex Mystic Black Deep Hair Mask (100ml) and this is the product which I was most looking forward to seeing because I am so intrigued by it.  Described as being a mask which will leave your hair feeling hydrated, free of frizz and tangles.

Free of parabens, silicones and sulphates, this mask is enriched with baobab oil which helps provide intense hydration for the hair.  I am quite looking forward to giving this a try as it is suitable for all hair types. You can find this mask here from allbeauty.com

Up next is the Nip + Fab Glycolic Scrub Fix (50ml). Described as being a 3-in1 micro-exfoliant, it contains 3% Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid and fine grains to ensure your skin is left refined and brightened.

This scrub works deep into your pores to cleanse, polish, slough away dead skin cells and help reduce blemishes. With its zesty grapefruit scent, it is should leave your skin feeling smoothed and energised.

Next up is the SkinEye Cool Gel from Monu (Full-Size RRP £24.95) and it is described as being a refreshing gel that instantly restores hydration and refreshes the sensitive eye area. Monu is a brand I've got to know through Glossybox as it has featured quite regularly and I am yet to find a product I dislike.

SkinEye Cool Gel contains a unique blend of Arnica, Vitamin C, Sodium Hyaluronate and Ginseng which come together and work to effectively reduce puffiness and dark circles under the eye whilst lifting, plumping and correcting skin tone for a fresh, flawless look. Delivering immediate results, the Eye Cool Gel is an all-around miracle, leaving eyes brighter and skin rejuvenated. With products like this, I would also put them in the fridge for around 30 minutes before using them as an extra treat.

Finally, in this months box, we have the Gatineau Firming Throat Gel (50ml). I have used products from Gatineau a few times now but this is a new one for me. Described as being a lightweight, rapidly absorbing gel, it works to address the appearance of skin slackening, refines the skin’s texture and helps firm facial contours.
Enriched with Wheat Proteins which provide an immediate tightening effect, Pentavitin which intensively moisturises the skin, Sunflower Oil which helps to regenerate the skin and Vitamins A, E and F which nourish and protect against free radicals. I am quite intrigued by this and am looking forward to see whether or not it does work.

I really liked this months box, there are some new and some not so new discoveries for me this month and some products that I can put to one side for when I go to Disneyland Paris later this year.

To add to the excitement of your box arriving, Glossybox has partnered with leading haircare brand Remington to secretly include exclusive Golden Tickets inside 5 lucky Glossyboxes. Those lucky enough to receive a golden ticket will win 1 of 5 ProLuxe hair tools from the Remington Range.
