Step This Way To Happy Feet

It looks as though Summer is finally on its way and despite my aversion to feet, including my own, if I want to wear sandals then my feet need to look less like trotters and much more (slightly) looked after.  So, the lovely people over at Happy Feet very kindly sent over a collection of products to help make this happen.
Step This Way To Happy Feet
Did you know, more than a third of Brits are unhappy with their feet and in a recent survey, voted them their least favourite physical attribute! Seems I am not alone in my view of feet! So, armed with my package of treats, I took on the task of sorting out my feet.

Within this package I was kindly gifted four products to turn my feet from trotters into something much more respectable.

The first of those products is the Barefoot Ready Footner Exfoliating Socks, which I am a huge fan of.
Step This Way To Happy Feet
With any product like this, you should always ensure you have freshly washed feet and have no open wounds - because they sting a lot otherwise! Then you need to find yourself around an hour to sit back, relax and let them work their magic. Once the socks have been applied to your feet, they are very plasticky feeling and once they have been secured in place, I wouldn't advise moving around because it is very slippy. So grab that book, get Netflix on or an eye mask and relax for 60 minutes. After that time, you are free to remove the socks and then massage any excess formula onto and into the skin of your feet.

When using these types of products, the results are not immediate. I have found that the peeling process can start any time from a few days to around 10 days. Once the peeling does start, the advice is to not try to forcefully remove any skin because it might damage the underlying skin.

The second product is the CCS Foot Care Cream which is especially formulated for dry and callused feet.
Step This Way To Happy Feet
The formula contains 10% Urea, the moisturiser found naturally in the body, it’s job in this case is to soften hard, dry skin helping to keep it soft and supple, and help to prevent further problems developing. The cream, which isn’t too thick a consistency, is easy to apply to the feet and whilst it takes a few seconds of your time to massage it in, I always apply a fairly thick layer of cream and then apply socks over the top of that cream and let it work overnight, especially during flip flop season when I find the heels of my feet really suffer.

The third product I was kindly give comes from Nailberry Paris with the nail polish shade Bluebell. The L’Oxygéné collection of polishes use a patented technology to deliver what is referred to as a healthier manicure with no compromise on colour vivacity, shine or longevity. The patented technology works to deliver breathable, oxygenated and water permeable polishes which are vegan, cruelty free, gluten free and Halal certified.
Step This Way To Happy Feet
Bluebell is a blueish-purple shade was created especially to capture the beautifully bright, creamy and characterful colour of the bluebell flower. Said to suit all skin tones, what I like about this polish is the wide, tapered brush which makes the application a breeze.

The final product is something everyone should have and that is a glass nail file.

This particular file is unbranded but it is slim in design with a pointed edge. My personal preference is to use a glass nail file rather than a traditional emery board file because they are so much more gentle on your nails. The grit that you can feel on a glass nail file is super finely sanded down so that means you will be able to create a much cleanser and smoother edge on your nails instead of a jagged, torn edge, so your nails should not peel and chip as easily as they might have done.

Aldi Lacura Newest fragrance Launches

One of my favourite discoveries from Aldi Lacura is their fragrance range, not just the candles, wax melts and Reed diffusers but they also have an incredible range of perfume and aftershaves that are not to be sniffed at. Having already shared a few of those fragrances in recent weeks, today I am back with three more!
Aldi Lacura Newest fragrance Launches
Meet Guardian, Luxe and Floral Love, three fragrances from the Aldi range and you might have guess that they are inspired by Thierry Mugler Alien, Viktor Rolf's FlowerBomb and of course Marc Jacobs Decadence.

Anyone who knows me or reads my blog will know just how much I detest Alien by Thierry Mugler, there is something about the notes that I just cannot stomach, but I was willing to give Guardian a try.

Each one of these fragrances retails for just £5.99 and whilst the bottles are not that similar to their high-end inspiration, they are all really well made and quite distinguishable in any perfume collection, but how do they rate?
Aldi Lacura Newest fragrance Launches
Starting with Guardian which has been formulated with sweet scents of pineapple, coconut and mandarin orange which work alongside the sharper aromas of red berries, orchid and jasmine. Then finally the base notes of vanilla, amber, caramel and tonka bean. Unsurprisingly, Thierry Mugler Angel has very similar fragrance notes which are the sweet red fruits, soft caramel, honey and praline, combined with the captivating power of patchouli and vanilla.

The two fragrances do smell very similar as soon as they are spritzed but Guardian is less heavy with the vanilla and it makes it, for me, much easier to wear. When it comes to longevity, I haven’t worn Angel long enough to compare the two but Guardian gives a good 3-4 hours wear time before it would need to be re-applied. Priced at just £5.99 whereas bottles of Angel can retail over £100, so it’s quite the saving.

The second fragrance, Luxe is packaged in an emerald green bottle and it is quite striking, though clearly not a patch on the Marc Jacobs Decadence fragrance which is made to look like a snakeskin handbag.

Again with this fragrance, the notes of Luxe are described as being notes of saffron and iris that complement undertones of papyrus and heady vetiver. Added to that is the description of a fragrance which is deeply woody and sensual with creamy notes of jasmine and strong aroma of Bulgarian Rose. Contrasting that to Decadence we have top notes of Plum, Saffron and iris; heart notes of Orris, Jasmine Sambac and Bulgarian Rose before finally it’s base notes are Vetiver, Papyrus and Liquidambar. So once again, very similar notes in the same order but the slight difference between the two for me is the top notes, they’re much stronger in Decadence than they are in Luxe but as they dry down they become remarkably similar but I prefer Luxe once it has dried down because it doesn’t quite have that sharpness I find with Decadence.

The final fragrance is my favourite of the three and it is Floral Love, which is described as being a dupe of Flowerbomb from Victor & Rolf.   The bottles, which are both glass are very different in design though both are quite weighty in the hand. Again, it costs just £5.99 for 100ml and that is a massive saving of over £100 for the same sized bottle!

Floral Love is described as a ‘celebration of all things floral’ with notes of rose, freesia, and African orange flower. Then with Flowerbomb we have top notes of Tea, Bergamot and Osmanthus; heart notes of Orchid, Jasmine, Rose, Freesia and African Orange flower and then the base notes are Patchouli, Musk and Vanilla.   Both of these fragrances smell exactly the same to me, they open with that wonder zesty scent and settles with the jasmine and rose before the musk comes through to keep the vanilla from being too heady.  On the skin, Floral Love lasts a really good amount of time, for me it’s 6-7 hours, so a full day at work and people can still catch it as I walk by.

I have one more Aldi fragrance still to share on my blog and this time it is one for him! But for now you can enjoy these three beauties which are the same but different!

Glossybox Dive In - July Edition

The July Edit of Glossybox has arrived and the Dive In theme is said to have been inspired by the beauty of the ocean and the beauty that lays beneath it. This month, the box has a special design on the box that channels your inner mermaid.
Glossybox Dive In - July Edition
Inside the box there is a real mix of full size and deluxe mini products worth over £50 and with everything from hair care to skincare alongside makeup, I’d love to know what you think of the box.

The first product out of the box comes all the way from Bulgaria. Brave New Hair Leave-In Scalp Tonic and I love discovering new products for the scalp, so I’m looking forward to giving this a try.
Glossybox Dive In - July Edition
Described as being a lightweight scalp tonic which is formulated to soothe and moisturise while balancing the scalp. Enriched in AHAs, the formula is designed to promote gentle exfoliation while fermented Aloe works to hydrate and calm the scalp. It also contains hyaluronic acid to boost moisture, and prebiotic to balance the microbiome of your scalp!

The second products comes from Nails Inc with a Gel Effect formula.
Glossybox Dive In - July Edition
The really pretty pastel pink shade, called Mayfair Lane, it has a new and improved formula which it claims is guaranteed to help condition and strengthen nails owing to the inclusion of a nourishing flower extract.

The third product is the Dessata Hair Brush and if you are a fan of products like the Tangle Teezer, then this one is very similar.
Glossybox Dive In - July Edition
Made from a special gel, the Dessata brushes are designed to not cause a build up of static electricity and to keep hair tangle and fly-away free, as the gel moulded bristles glide through all hair types creating less friction than normal hairbrushes. With its curved shape and flexible bristles, the brush fits into the palm of your hair for easy use.

The next product is from Josephine Cosmetics, a brand which I’ve come to know via Glossybox and this time the product is the Eye/Define liquid eyeliner in the shade Jolie.
Glossybox Dive In - July Edition
Described as being highly-pigmented and completely waterproof, Eye/Define is a smooth and smudge proof formula which is formulated with a helping of Shea Butter, Vegetable oils, Vitamin E & C which work to keep the skin conditioned without causing eye irritations. This eyeliner has a precise felt tip applicator which allows easy and effortless application.

The final product comes from E.l.f Cosmetics and this time it is a Lip Plumping Gloss in the shade Mauve Lady.
Glossybox Dive In - July Edition
This Lip Plumping Gloss is said to help plump the lips while at the same time nourishing and hydrating. With its invigorating high-shine formula it is enriched with Vitamin E and Coconut Oil which work to nourish and hydrate the lips for a soft, supple feel. The shade Mauve Lady, which is a rosy pink shade and there is a smattering of iridescent sparkles within the formula which gives it that high-shine appearance. On application it is a little tacky on the lips, but not too much that it is uncomfortable.

As an extra treat within this months box, there is a Glitterbels Nail File.
Glossybox Dive In - July Edition
Described as being a comfortable grip nail file that can be used on both natural or nail extensions.

This months theme is really cute but, for the first time in 2022, as much as I do love the  theme and like the products, I’m not too sure how the two work together. Previous months boxes, in my opinion have worked much better together.

As you will all know by now, Glossybox is a beauty box subscription service and it costs as little as £11 per month here*. By subscribing to these boxes, it gives you the chance to get your hands on the Limited Edition boxes.
