Glossybox Sleep and Refresh Edition

The festive season is now over and the majority of us will be back to work, back into Education or kids back to school, the rush, excitement and buzz of Christmas can leave you feeling absolutely worn out and ready for one long nap - if only we could hibernate!  The lovely team over at Glossybox have put together the January edition of their beauty box and it is aptly named Sleep and Refresh.
Glossybox Sleep and Refresh Edition
This edit is filled with 5 full-size products which includes everything you need to create a revitalising ritual to get up and take on the year ahead.  Inside the box, there is a mixture of skincare, makeup and there is also a beauty tool too.

The first item out of the box is by a lovely brand known as ByBi, a brand I have featured on my blog a few times (here and here) and today sees the turn of Strawberry Booster which is made from upcycled seeds from the juice industry.

This booster is designed to be used as part of your existing day time routine and is described as being a great skin-softener, which works to improve moisture levels for complexions that are feeling a little dry, flakey or sensitive.

The second item out of the box is something you can never have too many pairs of and that is the Basic Beauty Tweezers
Glossybox Sleep and Refresh Edition
These tweezers have the classic slanted tip which makes grabbing the smallest of hairs and plucking effortless.  Like Bobby Pins, I am forever losing my Tweezers, so was delighted to see these in my box

Staying with the brows, for now, we have a Clear Brow Gel from Model Co.  Described as being Vegan and cruelty-free, this clear eyebrow gel can be used to hold your groomed brows in their place or to shape your brows.

What I like about this gel is its lightweight formula, rather than being quick thick in texture, it is quite light and easy to use whether your brows are groomed or are product free.

From BeautyPro we have a CBD Oil infused sheet mask which comes from their plant range of masks. Described as being something which helps to restore, calm and heal the skin from; Uneven skin tone, pollution damage, redness and blemish breakouts.
Glossybox Sleep and Refresh Edition
Made from a biodegradable bamboo sheet mask, it should be applied onto cleansed skin and then left for up to 20 minutes to work its magic.

The final product within this box is from Kueshi with the Double Effect Makeup Remover. It is formulated to remove waterproof and long-lasting makeup and because it a bi-phase solution, it uses the clear oily side to remove makeup whereas the blue lotion freshes and cleanses.
Glossybox Sleep and Refresh Edition
To use you simply shake the bottle to mix the two solutions together and apply to a cotton pad before sweeping over your face.  What I like about this is the fact it doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy after using and whilst it doesn't remove every single trace of waterproof mascara, for which I use eye makeup remover anyway, it does a pretty good job.

I think this is a really good box from Glossybox and one which is a great way to kick off 2020 with a mixture of brands and products.

As always you can subscribe to Glossybox right here and if you use the code BQUEEN20 you can get yourself 20% off that first box!

ZeroWater For The Purest Tap Water

In an age when we are all supposed to stop buying plastic bottled water and should instead be using our recyclable, eco-friendly bottles instead, you might well be wondering why on earth I have a water filter on my blog today?  Well for two reasons to be honest with you.
ZeroWater For The Purest Tap Water
Living in London, the water here is hard, have you ever looked inside your kettle after a few weeks of using it? Mine is always full of limescale and I am conscious that using too many chemicals to constantly clean my devices is not going to be good for me and secondly, drinking water comes with a whole host of benefits which include but is not limited too:
  • Helping to improve alertness
  • Improve skin texture
  • Aid digestion process
  • Improve energy levels
  • Improve bodily organ functions
  • Lubricate joints
  • Purify the body
  • Remove toxins
All of which are good reasons to drink water because without it you can suffer from headaches, dry mouth and fatigue to name just a few.  So drinking water is something we should all be doing, but drinking more water is something we should all aim to do.

The ZeroWater Filter Jug is a 12-cup jug filter or 2.8L and it because of its unique 5 stage filter, which removes more than other brands, it not only leaves you with the best possible tap water it also saves you money on buying bottled water in the process.  The 5-stage Ion Exchange Filtration system removes virtually all dissolved solids from your water and these might include Minerals, Salts, Metals such as Lead, Zinc and Aluminium and it also works to reduce 99% of all Fluoride and other inorganics, such as Nitrates, from your water. Broken down each of the 5 stages of filtration work as follows:
  • STAGE 01 Coarse Filter Screen - Filters out fine particles and sediments. It removes suspended solids like dust and rust that make your water cloudy.
  • STAGE 02. Foam Distributor Foam - Disperses the water evenly across the entire width of filter. This increases the longevity and ability to remove more suspended solids and contaminants.
  • STAGE 03. Multi-layer activated carbon and Oxidation-reduction Alloy. Carbon: filters out a lot of different contaminants and is standard in most conventional filters; particularly good on organics and for improved taste. Oxidation alloy: reduces, removes chlorine and other heavy metals plus, it keeps mould from forming when the filter is moist.
  • STAGE 04. Dual Comprehensive Ion Exchange ResIn The Ion Exchange stage removes virtually all total dissolved solids. The negative and positive dual bed ion exchange resin strips the foreign ions from the water molecules and returns them to a pure state.
  • STAGE 05. Ultra-fine Screen & Non-Woven Membrane Layers - Removes remaining suspended solids, holds the resin in place and removes ultra-fine particles.
Sitting on the top of the jug is a TDS Meter which stands for Total Dissolved Solids and once you fill the jug with tap water, you press the on/off button, the jug will read your water and the aim is to see a reading that is between 000-0001 which means your water has reached the same level of purification as bottled water.  Depending on where you live some cities will give a reading of 002-050 but all of the readings are explained so you can understand them much more. When I first filled my jug with water I was given 284 which is classed as being high and I did find this quite shocking as I am such an advocate of drinking tap water.  So now, I have my ZeroWater jug constantly filled up in my fridge, it sits nicely in the size shelf next to the milk without being overly bulky.

ZeroWater's 12-cup water filtration jug is the first in its class to have a sealed lid and reservoir, making it possible to pour water that has already been filtered without spilling water that's still filtering. This means the reservoir can now be kept full, adding two-extra cups capacity to the existing 10-cup design. This pitcher features an ergonomic, space-saving design perfect for mini-fridges or for users who prefer a lightweight pitcher. It costs just £39.99 it isn't overly expensive, the filters start at £19.99 and also available in multipacks too.

Do you use a water filter?
