Here are some tips to help you maintain your beauty routine when on holiday, even if it is a last-minute holiday.
Plan a holiday-friendly essentials kit
If you were to boil down your beauty regime to the bare bones, there are certain products which are essential and those which are luxuries. It is recommended that everybody use a cleanser, moisturiser and SPF for skincare. You may also want to pack a minimal makeup bag as well.
To keep things easy, see if you can purchase smaller sizes of your cherished products. If not, make use of multipurpose travel bottles and pop some in them before your travel.
Adapt your routine
Travelling can be incredibly taxing on your hair and skin, so you may need to make some adjustments while you are away. Flying, climate changes, humidity shifts and jet lag are all things to watch out for.
Dehydration is a common issue. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, even when consuming other liquids. Skin always looks better when it is hydrated.
Brits can go a bit sun-mad when away, so remember to keep on top of your sun protection. Being burnt is incredibly damaging to your skin, so keep your SPF to hand.
To really keep on top of your skin, use a barrier repair cream. These are designed to protect against environmental stressors as well as strengthen your skin’s protective barrier over time, making them well worth the investment.
Smart application & in-flight tips
Long journeys are the perfect time for a bit of pampering – just remember to be mindful of your fellow travellers!
You can create a relaxing environment with some quality headphones, a chill playlist and a soothing face mask. Focus on hydrating and nourishing ones as the air conditioning on planes can leave you feeling a bit dry.
Your lips deserve some love too, so apply a moisturising balm that can soak in during your time in the sky.
Maintenance on the move
It isn’t just your face that needs looking after when you are on the move – the rest of you does too. When packing, think about the routines you go through weekly, as these are likely to be needed whilst you are away.
There are ways to limit your luggage. Shaving, for example, may be non-negotiable. Instead of packing multiple razors, purchase a reusable one and take a couple of heads instead.
For your nails, treat yourself to a manicure before you go. That way, you won’t need to touch them up and worry about the polish chipping.
