I am sure everyone who reads this post will have heard of Jolen Crème Bleach and this summer Jolen celebrated 50 years in beauty. That is 50 years on continuous sales in the UK Market since its launch in 1966, which is simply amazing in a market which is ever growing and with new technologies formulating products which are almost space age in their concept, telling that Jolen has stood the test of time and clearly does what it says on the box because people keep on buying it. Jolen offer a variety of solutions for unwanted facial and body hair including our Creme Bleach Original and Mild formulas. Creme Bleach was the first cosmetic created to lighten unwanted dark hair to a colour which blends with natural skin tones.
My first memory of Jolen is my older cousin using it as a sort of facial bleach to lighten the hair on her face, especially her top lip and it was only later on that I realised that it is also recommended for lightening any darker hairs on arms and thighs as well as other body hair.
In celebrating those 50 years, Jolen has had a bit of a makeover with packaging that I feel is more stand out on the shelves and much easier to figure out what it is for. It also now comes with an easy mix cup and spatula.

One thing I wasn't aware of is how many uses Jolen has until now. It can be used as a facial bleach to lighten unwanted hair–upper lip, chin, cheeks and even sideburn areas. Jolen is also recommended for minimizing noticeable hair on the arms, thighs, back, stomach and other body areas (but not for use on pubic hair). You can also use Jolen to lighten eyebrows to match your hair colour and even add highlights to your hair.
Available as the original formula or with added Aloe Vera, Jolen isn't tested on animals and you should always do a test patch before using to check for signs of irritation. Available nationalwide, prices range from £3.29-£11 depending on where you shop and which size pot you purchase.

I've used Jolen before to lighten my brows (which I don't do anymore) but it's effective and I've had no issues but it's definitely a brand I've always seen at the forefront of hair bleaching x
ReplyDeleteIt feel like Jolen has been around for as long as I can remember but I didnt quite realise it was 50 years!

Have to say I'm not hugely convinced, bleaching scares me!
ReplyDeleteAlways interesting to find some cool products on your blog. I think this is a great way to get your hair beach style in a more subtle summer hue :)
ReplyDeleteAs I have PCOS I have a lot of excess dark hair on my body that I am constantly getting rid of via shaving. Never once did I consider bleaching! I am DEFINITELY going to check this out because shaving is far too time consuming haha!
ReplyDeleteWow, 50 years is a long time for a brand to be around!
ReplyDeleteAlways reminds me of boarding school and the girls doing this on Sunday evenings!
ReplyDelete50 years is a long time! I've never really bleached before, prefer wax strips to get rid of unwanted hair and yes, ouch!
ReplyDeleteI’ve never actually heard of it or used to before (sorry!) I guess I’m already fair so wouldn’t need to or I grew up a total tom boy. I can see why it’s appealing to people though.

50 years and still going strong - it obviously works then x
ReplyDeleteDoes it work in your opinion? I've considered it before, but I want to know if it actually works first.
ReplyDeleteWow, it must be good if it is going this long :) I've not heard of this before but I am not up to date on my beauty products..
ReplyDeleteI have used this in the past on my moustache although I now get it threaded but this is good nevertheless.
ReplyDeleteI've actually never heard of this as I have never bleached my hair and I am pretty lucky to have very light hair on my face x
ReplyDeleteJolen sounds incredibly useful. Its nice to know it can be used on facial hair as well as body hair.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this before, sounds very useful
ReplyDeleteJolen is great! I don't use it as much anymore, but I remember using it on arm hair when I was younger and on my upper lip.
ReplyDeleteYou are always introducing me to new brands. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's been 50 years! That's amazing X
ReplyDeleteWow 50 years is impressive. I know family members that swear by this x
ReplyDeleteI think this is really great! I have really blonde hair though so it wouldn't be must use to me but I let some of my friends know about it!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this product until now. I like the price tag.
ReplyDeleteThat's a long time for a brand to be around, 50 years. I don't use hair bleach as I had IPL treatment so I don't have any hairs to bleach, but I think it's a great solution for women who don't like pain.
ReplyDeleteI used to use some sort of bleach years ago. This one sounds good. I like that it isn't tested on animals.
ReplyDeleteI remember this stuff from years ago when I was really bothered by my tiny bit of upper lip hair. It really works.
ReplyDeleteWhere have I been in the past 50 years? I haven't heard about Jolen before, but I'm glad I found it now! :)

My sister used to use this all the time as she had very dark hair. I'm not sure if she still does now though. Can't belive it's been in the market for 50 years!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried this myself as I have really light facial hair, but so many people rave about it!

I haven't heard of this before, but I was actually thinking about lightening my hair. Maybe next summer!
