Sitting down and relaxing is not something that comes naturally to me, my Gran always referred to my constant fidgeting as having 'ants in my pants' because I am so naturally restless. So whilst I am ironing, cooking, cleaning, just have a face mask on or even having a bath, if there isn't a book I am currently hooked on, then I always have something to watch on TV. Now I am not your average soap addict, I grew out of those many years ago after the storylines became totally depressing and a bit samey from Walford to Emmerdale, so instead I find myself obsessing over American TV dramas which I much prefer.
At home we have more than one TV, so the mister and I can watch our own thing, unless there is a show we both like. Now our lounge television is getting on a bit and needs replacing and everytime we see an advert for the new 4K TV from Panasonic we both immediately want it, the picture is just stunning and so much better than either TV. However, it is on a wishlist and will have to wait.
I am not one of those people who can re-watch a TV show having watched it once, so I am signed up to Amazon Prime which gives me a great opportunity to watch whatever I want when I want and some of my favourite shows of late have been:
Castle - This is one of those TV shows I can just keep on watching. It is about the mystery novelist Richard Castle who is friends with the Mayor and manages to get himself a job as a consultant to work with New York police to find a killer (or killers) who is modelling his crimes after scenes from Castle's novels. I am now onto season 8 and just love the show. It is easy to watch, requires no thought process and is easy to follow.
Sons of Anarchy - I have finally finished this show and wow what an ending. I am not going to spoil it for anyone but if you love bad boy bikers then this is the show for you. The show is centered around SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original) and features characters such as Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam for whom it is worth watching just for him)and it is essentially about the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club operating in Charming, a fictional town in California's Central Valley. You can read more about it on the Wiki page if you like the sound of it.
Criminal Minds - I started watching this show years ago and have recently got back into the swing of things. The show is set primarily at the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) and is based in Quantico, Virginia, and the main focal part of the show lies with the rather talented group of FBI Profilers who set out to catch various criminals that local police forces seem unable to catch thanks to their analysis and behavioural profiling. If you like shows like CSI or Graceland then this is one to watch.
The Blacklist - This is my latest 'must watch' show and it began a few days ago thanks to an advert during the football. Raymond "Red" Reddington who is a former United States Navy officer turned high-profile criminal, voluntarily surrenders to the FBI after eluding capture for what I can gather is decades. He tells the FBI that he has a list of the most dangerous criminals in the world that he has compiled over the years and is willing to guide their operations in exchange for immunity from prosecution, there is however one caveat and that is his insistance to work with rookie FBI Profier Elizabeth Keen. I am only a few episodes into this show and am already hooked.
I would love to know what it is you are watching right now and whether you have a TV series you would recommend my watching.

I've watched SOA but haven't tried the others yet so it's something new to add to my list. I really like the sound of The Blacklist and Castle. We're currently watching Fargo and the TV series of from dusk till dawn.
ReplyDeleteI find it so hard to sit still and relax, I don't know why!! I do like a good T.V show, I think I might give blacklist a go :D I couldn't get into SOA, maybe I should give that another go, too. xx
ReplyDeleteI watched the first couple seasons of SOA but kinda fell out of love with it a bit... Not sure why. Do you think the ending is worth me picking it up again.?
ReplyDeleteNicola, xo
If you get the chance, you NEED to watch Lie to Me. It is hands down the best TV show I have ever watched.
ReplyDeleteI am currently in the middle of watching Pretty Little Liars - late, I know and also watching 24... Even later to the bandwagon on that one! ;) x
Haven't watched any of these shows (and I'm usually the type of person who watches EVERYTHING). Really want to give Sons of Anarchy a go x
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I have the tv on most of the time when I'm doing something else. It's been a long while since I actually set down to only watch a show (actually I only do that for Bake-Off). I love Castle, but did not really get hooked to the other ones (Criminal Minds was too psycho for my taste and the Blacklist was too boring) but I will give SOA a go!
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy the blacklist. I enjoy seeing what others are reading or watching as it gives me ideas of whats good. I enjoyed your post.

I have been addicted to House on Netflix this past couple of months - am nearly at the end of all 8 seasons, just 10 episodes to go - so your post is well timed to help me find my next series addiction!
ReplyDeleteI've been watching GBBO and Elementary recently x
ReplyDeleteHeather | Of Beauty & Nothingness x
Gotham, True Detective, Hannibal and Humans have been on our planner recently. Obviously I'm still a baby so it's my folks that have been watching those...I'm quite happy with Peppa Pig ;)
ReplyDeleteWe're enjoying Persons of Interest at the moment on Netflix which we started watching as it was a recommendation because we liked Criminal Minds x x
ReplyDeleteI love Castle too. I'm just catching up on the latest season - just 2 shows to go - that I recorded ages ago. I did watch Criminal Minds but found I didn't have the time. Also recorded to catch up on is Bones (although I've missed seasons in between the first 2 which I had out on LoveFilm before cancelling my subscription), and Nashville. And now CSI Cyber's started so that's being recorded. tbh, I don't have the time to watch all the shows I'd love to watch, so I have to limit them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any of these - how bad is that? I've heard such good things about them too
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any of these. At the moment we are watching the leftovers, masterchef australia (so much better than the UK one) and the returned x
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any of those. My TV always seems to be tuned to Mr. Tumble or Peppa Pig. I do like The Big Bang Theorey though
ReplyDeleteI have Amazon prime but haven't watched any of these. I have just finished watching Rome, an oldie but great to watch :-)
ReplyDeleteWe're a bit terrible at watching regular series - instead we just watch as and when we see something we fancy. We can't commit to something regular :)
ReplyDeleteI am a definite box set binge watcher (I am umming and aahing between Amazon Prime and Netflix at the mo) - my husband and I tend to watch very different things, so we usually have one series we both like and watch that together. Avoids arguments! We've just run out, so have been looking for something new, and there's a few which sound great here.
ReplyDeleteLoved this post, must definitely check out some of those shows! I love criminal minds!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is fab, followed x
I haven't watched any of these, I'm currently addicted to Game of Thrones on NowTV X
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of The Blacklist too! Amazing series!
ReplyDeleteJust like you I am not into soaps at all. I don't really watch much TV. It's always the kids channels that are on. But when I do get to watch something, I seem to be hooked on the new TV series calls first dates.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Blacklist - Red and Lizzie are just on fire - have you started from the beginning? Check out my post if you like this show and let me know what you think of my choices! http://blogabooketc.com/2015/10/5-favourite-tv-shows/ - a new one that isn't on my list is Mr Robot!
ReplyDeleteI have watched all of the above and loved them. I am currently watching Longmire
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day I'll get back into watching TV... spend far too much time on the computer!
ReplyDeleteha I`m the same way! My mind NEEDS something to be happening at all times or its just not good news!!
ReplyDeleteI havent watched any of these things. I hear great things about them but I never really get into serious dramas these days, I need light entertainment!
I had amazon prime for a month and all I ever watched was Desperate Housewives and Switched At Birth! xx
I've seen the last episode of Sons of Anarchy and about two of the others, due to watching it with my ex in the same room. I've done it all wrong! I really need to watch from the start as it looks so good. Great post xx
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of any of these! We're watching Supernatural here! Kaz x
ReplyDeleteMy husband is desperate for a new TV but I won't let him get one as ours works just fine. I LOVE Blacklist - such a good twist this series
ReplyDeleteI love watching TV in the evening. I have been trying to catching up with Walking Dead, I have just started series 5. I have watched a few episodes of SOA, yeah I like bad boys and bikers! lol
ReplyDeleteI love Criminal Minds - Dr Reid is my favourite! It's such a great show and there are so many seasons! And I just love Castle, I like the actor who plays Castle from Firefly which was another good series, but it was sadly cancelled.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any TV series in years, the only two I have recently are Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I LOVE Blacklist & SOA was amazing! I also love Hannibal, Orange is the new Black & The Following. There are so many great shows on there it's hard to find time for them all, lol xx
ReplyDeleteMy husband LOVES the blacklist. The only tv show i regularly watch is neighbours!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI have worked my way through those so need something more to watch .. damn this pregnancy insomnia!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch that much TV, as I never seem to have time, but my husband and I did watch all of Breaking Bad, and I'd definitely recommend that.
ReplyDeleteIt's a guilty pleasure isn't it television, we always watch it in the evenings. The only one of these I've seen some of is Sons of Anarchy although I've not seen it for ages. Was good though. Will have to check the others out :)
