A Few Truths about blogging

As part of my blogging series, where I am sharing with you blog promotion, hints and tips, things I have learnt and things I find annoying, I have sat with my notebook and come up with quite an extensive list which I titled 'A few truths about blogging' and it is one of those lists i've been writing for a few months and I thought it would make a good post.

1. Blogging isn't easy. Most of you know that and many of you will have discovered that whilst some people out there still think it is really really easy. It isn't, infact for me it is one of the most difficult things I have ever done.

2. Blogging requires a lot of determination, passion and willpower - especially if you want your blog to be read and grow

3. Sometimes you have a lot of ideas running around your head for blog post ideas and some other times you won't have any - notebooks are important!

4. Notebooks become a must have item and something you can never have too many of - I have 5 or 6 of them in all different shapes and sizes and I have one by the bed, one in my handbag, one on my desk and one in the lounge on the sofa where I sit to type most of my posts.

5. Your postman will think you have a shopping problem - mine did. Then a package arrived with my blog address on it and he Googled it, found my blog and now they read it in the sorting office and always ask if I have any recommendations for perfumes for their wives and girlfriends.

6. If the internet doesn't work for any reason you start having a nervous breakdown, texting your friends to see if they have internet before going to Costa Coffee or McDonalds because their WiFi is free.

7. You will meet some absolutely fabulous people - blogging friends, PR Companies, Brand Representatives, Journalists with whom you strike up a great friendship

8. You will come across some horrid people, not many but a few who are rude and really test your patience -  just remember to smile and be polite at all times, it unnerves them

9. If you were not a hoarder, you soon will be

10. You'll find it normal to buy a product and not use it before taking loads of photographs for a later blog posts

11.  Boots, Superdrug, Debenhams, House of Fraser etc.. only exist for you to swatch products up your arm, round your hand and on your feet if you run out of space!

12.  Offers like 3 for 2 really mean 12 for 10

13. People don't recognise you until you say your blog name and they are more likely to know you as your blog name than your real name and you will introduce yourself as your blog

14. Your wishlist which once had 2-3 items on it now has 200-300 must haves

15. You won't get millions of followers immediately, it could take weeks, it could take months

16. You will change your layout more than once and still not be happy with it

17. You won't be able to make a sandwich without it appearing on Instagram, same goes for any food item, shopping bad, cute cat poses and anything else you can photograph quickly

18. There is always something new to learn, you cannot know everything

19. Advent calendars take on a whole new role of excitement!

20. You own more than one camera and take photos using them all to find the best of the bunch

21. Phrases such as "I have a new MAC" no longer means a new coat

22. You chat more on emails to PR companies and other bloggers than you do to your friends and family

23. You have two make-up bags, one for home and one for on the go

24. Lip balms multiply

25. Hashtags become your new best friend

26. You become a bit of a tech geek and learn new things about domain names, hosting companies and security!

Some of this post has been serious, some tongue in cheek but I am sure you get my drift.  Blogging isn't easy, it is time consuming and hard work but it is enjoyable and I personally love it.

Is there anything that you would add to this list?
