The Blogger Made Me Buy It Tag

I was tagged to complete The Blogger Made But It tag by the lovely Jess and the lovely Bex; I've seen quite a few of these posts lately and have really enjoyed reading them, so I am chuffed Jess tagged me. This tag was created by Danniella at Famous In Japan, so pop over to her blog to see the original post. For now, though, I hope you enjoy reading my answers, and do let me know if you've completed this tag too!

Who are your most influential bloggers? Who are the ones that you really rely on for reviews and swatches?

This one is quite easy for me to answer because it is the lovely Jane from British Beauty Blogger.  Honestly this lady has the most amazing products that she swatches for us all to salivate over, of late the Naked Lipgloss swatch has made me want a lipgloss more than I have wanted one for a very long time... oh and the Tory Burch blusher I would quite like too, not to mention the Narsissist cheek palette, some new Essie Polishes and a faux fur coat!

Then comes Stacey from Expat Make-up Addict who has a collection of products to die for and what I would give to have a good old rummage!  Everything from Candles, to lipsticks to her huge MAC collection!

Do you buy a product solely as a result from one review from your favourite bloggers, or do you look for more reviews from others?

It really does depend on the product for me - if it is a nail polish and I like the look of it, then I would buy it, but on the whole, I do tend to read a few reviews of a product before deciding whether or not I want it.  Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish is a product I was sat on the fence about for a long time, so I have read quite a lot of reviews on it and think it is worth having a go.

What is your most favourite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?

Lush Santa Lip Scrub.  I bought this before Christmas having seen a review of it (it wasn't very complimentary) and I am a huge fan on Lush lip scrubs, so I happened to be in Lush at Westfield buying some Snow Fairy, saw the lip scrub and bought it.

Then Origins Drink Me Up Overnight Mask which everyone has raved about and I really wanted something to rehydrate my skin, so I went to Boots and got some. As for what I think to it, there is a review coming soon!

What is your least favourite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?

There are none.  I won't buy a product to simply blog about it because it is popular.

Name 5 products you have bought recently as a result of blogs.

I struggled with this one because there aren't many things I have given into the hype of.  I do have the Maybelline Baby Lips but they were bought for me by a friend who knew I liked the sound of them, so not sure that really counts.

But at the beginning of this year I set myself a target of using up products that I already have, so as yet, I am yet to buy anything new.

Have you ever given into blogger hype? If so, which hype?

Not yet no, but there is a whole host of products on my want to try 2014 post that I really want to try and some of them are mainly due to other bloggers reviews such as Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and Glam Glow Mud.

The one thing I got for Christmas that I asked for was the Real Techniques Sam's pick set which I really wanted as I was keen to see why RT brushes are so popular and I liked the look of the set.

Have you ever avoided blogger hype? If so, which hype?

The Rimmel Apocalips.  I simply didn't like the look of them or the shades within which they were available and I didn't even nip into Boots to swatch any of them.

Is everything you buy based on blogger reviews or are there some items you buy without checking out a review?

I wish I could say yes but to be honest the answer is no.  A lot of the things I buy is on a whim, I am a sucker for cute packaging, a 3 for 2 offer, because I have a voucher for a specific product but most of the time if is something I have swatched and liked, I will buy it.

Actually a lot of what I buy is just things I pick up on a whim. I tend to turn to blogs for specific product recommendations, and sometimes if a product catches my eye I end up buying it, but mostly I love to browse in Boots or Superdrug, reading packaging and swatching until something intrigues me enough to make a purchase!

So, those are my answers to The Blogger Made Me Buy It tag! I'm tagging Liza, Kimberley, Becky and Stacey to answer the questions too; if you'd like to answer them and you've not been tagged, then by all means feel free to do so and leave me a comment to let me know, as I'd love to read your answers.
How do you feel about tag posts like this one? What are your thoughts on buying products after reading about them - do you tend to seek out reviews for things you need, or just buy things because you've seen them!?

  5. I am completely the same about the Rimmel Apocalips!! I just never got into the Hype! :) x

  6. I actually love the Rimmel Apocalips, the colours are just perfect for me. But I'm just like you with the not buying a product without actually wanting it, I wouldn't buy something just because lots of bloggers were loving it at that moment. I'm very money concious.

  7. Thank you so much for the mention!! Brilliant post

  8. Funny that you didn't buy the rimmel apocalips ones, I personally love them! I do agree that the packaging looks a bit off.
