Little Mix Make-up - New Releases!

Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards, better known as girl group Little Mix, have been working with the cosmetics brand Collection to produce a range of make-up, some of which is available in both Boots and Superdrug.

Source
I was very kindly sent a package of new products to play with and when I first saw them, I was a little dubious that I would like them, but I was always taught never to judge a book by its cover and here is what I thought.

Recently, the Little Mix girls have extended their range to include moisturising lip balms, which are available in each of the girls' signature shade and favourite scent.  The lipbalms will have an RRP of £1.99 each.

Each Lip-balm is held within a black plastic tube with white see through plastic cover and the signature of each girl matches the shade of their lipbalm.

Jade has gone for a raspberry flavour which is a baby pink coloured balm and when applied to the lips, it is really moisturising.

Jesy's lip-balm is a funky purple colour which is a vanilla scented lipbalm and sadly there is no colour transfer to the lips at all, but it does feel quite moisturising.

Leigh-Anne has opted for a mint flavoured lip-balm and the balm itself is a lovely mint green shade, again as with the other two balms, it is moisturising on the lips, though it leaves no hint or trace of the mint green colour behind,

The final lip-balm comes from Perrie, which has no scent to it, because apparently she has no sense of smell, is also colourless, instead it is called a natural shimmer and is a brilliant white shade, but this one differs slightly to the other three in that there is a shimmer to it. Within the lipbalm itself are teeny tiny little particles, which when applied to the lips, give them a bit of a shimmer.

I am a big fan of these lip-balms, they remind me of the Maybelline Baby Lips, which I happen to really like.

Also added to the range is the All About The Eyes Palette which will retail at a very pocket friendly price of £3.19 and includes six shades; Feather, Sunkissed, Golden Sand, Dazzling Brown, Cocoa Dream and Blackbird.

I actually really like this palette, it is a nice mixture of brown shades which are quite pigmented which is a lot more than I expected and they all work quite well together.  It is said that each singer within the band uses this palette to create their own signature look.

This is what each shade looks like:

From left to right Feather, Sunkissed, Golden Sand, Dazzling Brown, Cocoa Dream and Blackbird.

Have you tried any of the Little Mix range so far?
Do you like what is on offer here?

These lip balms and eyeshadow palette will be available to buy from Superdrug from 30 July.

June Glossybox

There was so much hype and excitement as to whom Glossybox would be collaborating with for the May box that I had almost forgotten about the June box until I saw some posts about it.

The June box for me has just arrived and this months box is said to help you channel summer beauty in one easy step... hmm okay then, let's see what I got in it.

June Glossybox

June Glossybox

June Glossybox

So we have gone back to the pink shiny box and this is the last Glossybox Magazine that we will be getting in paper form as it has been switched to an online version, slightly sad about that as I always read it, but not the end of the world.

Anyway on to my contents:

June Glossybox

June Glossybox

So quite an interesting box this month and this is what each product is:

Nailgirls 3-in-1 Base/Topcoat and nail strengther - well you can never have too many nail products right?  I need a new basecoat so looking forward to giving this a go.  It is a full size item which has an RRP £13.50 which is quite expensive for a brand I have never heard of.

June Glossybox

TeeezTrend Cosmetics Beautiful Flat Stiff Brush - This is a Glossybox Premiere and has never featured before and this was a product I have seen most people wanting in their box.  I have to say I love the packaging, very floral and very pretty and the brush itself is a really nice size, so looking forward to giving that a try.  It is a full sized item and has an RRP of £15.

June Glossybox

Rituals Qi Gong Spray is next and I am a HUGE fan of Rituals products and they also happen to make one of my favourite candles too.  That said this is is a spray which is infused with white lotus and nourshing yi yi ren which gives 24 hour protection from perspiration and leaves a subtle summery scent.  I really like the scent of this and as I am going away for a few days it is coming with me so I can put it to the test.  This is a 50ml can and it has an RRP of £3.50

June Glossybox

QV Skincare comes next and in this cute little bottle is some skin lotion which is said to be a great all-rounder that can be used as dry skin relief and to remove make-up.  It is a small 15ml bottle and is worth around the 50p mark.

June Glossybox

The final product is from the So Susan range and it is a brand I have seen across the bloggersphere recently and one I quite looked forward to trying.  In my box I have the Universal Blush and it is said to work with your skins natural chemistry to create a healthy and natural looking flush.  It is infused with Buriti Fruit Oil and offers UV Protection.  As a full sized product it has an RRP of £18.

June Glossybox

June Glossybox

So that is my June box and I have to say I am really quite impressed with it and will use every product that I received.

What do you think to my box and if you have one, please link me to it below in the comments so I can come and see what you got.

My favourite room in the house!

I am sure like me you have a never ending list of things to do, whether that is at work or at home.  If I won some money on the lottery the first room I would want to fix is my bathroom, the one place in the house that is my tranquil haven, or it could be with a bit of a fix up.  When we bought this place and got on the housing ladder, we managed to decorate every room, but the one that has always bugged me, is that bathroom.  I have bathroom envy over friends when I see how nice and white theirs are with there nice big baths and funky mirrors - mine doesn't even have a mirror!

Over the past few weeks, I have spent hours on Pinterest looking at bathroom ideas and that includes everything from the most outlandish ones I can find, the ones which are more basic and some people have done such brilliant jobs that I have a lot of ideas which led me to Utopia Group who have two of the bathrooms that, if I had enough room would most definitely want to have and here they are:

These designs are quite different in many ways, though they are both stylish and contemporary and everything I would want when it comes to somewhere I can relax and spend even more time in the bath (can someone please invent a device to keep water hotter for longer) and escape the world. I have two requirements for my bathroom - 1) It has a bath and 2) There is somewhere I can stand my Aloe Vera Plant and my Three Cactai.

I don't want something brightly coloured and I don't need something that has lots of things on the wall.  I want simple but with storage because my beauty stuff has to go somewhere right?

Do you have a room in your home which you really want to sort out?

The Summer Tag

The lovely Georgina over at Makeup-Pixi3 created this 'The Summer Tag' post and as I really enjoy filling them and taking part, these are my answers to those questions.  If you decide to do this tag, there are one or two stipulations which are:

"Feel free to consider yourself tagged as well, IF you do it, please remember to credit me as the source of the tag, and feel free to use the image above too.  Either tweet me or (ideally) leave a comment with your post URL of the tag, and I'll add it to the bottom of this post so others can find all the summer tag posts :)  Lets get on with the questions"

1.  What's your favourite thing about Summer?
It is my birthday.  Yes I am due to be celebrating my birthday in July therefore exciting.  I do also love the sunshine, going to the beach, sitting in the park, picnics, BBq's and so on.

2.  Do you have a favourite Summer drink?
I love going into Starbucks to try their latest Frappuchino which are always quite immense, the only time I tend to drink them.  Otherwise, because I have cut out caffeine, I tend to drink a lot of water during the daytime and to spice things up a bit, I love Vimto.

3.  Is there a location you like to go to each Summer?
I love being beside the seaside, beside the sea. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on a beach, near to the sea just listening to the sound of the waves when the tide is in.  I am also a bit of a demon for the arcades and love the 2p and 10p slots, just as the mister!

4.  Favourite makeup look for Summer?
Simple  - BB Cream and mascara with lip balm to stop my lips from drying out.

5.  Dresses or skirts?
Both.  I have recently started to like wearing skirts again, though I do need some sort of colour on my pasty white legs, so for the time being it is either a maxi dresses or a skirt with some nude tights.

6.  Sandals or ballet pumps?
Pumps definitely, though my favourite item of footwear for the summer are my Fitflops, the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned.

7.  Do you prefer to wear your hair up or down for Summer?
Depends on my mood.  I tend to wear it down a lot more than I used to, but if it is really really warm then I put my hair up so that it is off the back of my neck.

8.  Deep smokey eyes or bold lips?
Neither in the summer.  Simple is the way forward to me and that tends to mean nothing on the eyes except mascara and nothing on the lips except maybe a touch of colour from my favourite Dior lipstick and lip balm.

9.  Favourite perfume for Summer?
Either Bvlgari Pour Femme because it is my favourite perfume or at the minute I am loving Irresistble by Givenchy.

10.  Last but not least, favourite music for Summer?
My taste in music never changes, my iphone which doubles up as my ipod will be playing Queen, my all time favourite band, Five Finger Death Punch, Metallica, Bush, Guns N Roses, Terrorvision, Black Sabbath, 90's dance classics, 80's cheese and some songs that I generally like singing along too but would never admit to ever knowing them ;)

If you do this tag I would love to know. Happy Summer my lovelies!!!

Release The Lather, Feel The Magic With The Foamburst Genies!!

Imperial Leather has introduced seven new genies to represent each one of the sensual fragrances to celebrate their stunning new range. Each one of the genies holds their own unique personality in representation of each magical new scent.

Imperial_Leather_Foamburst

I was sent the Spicey Ginger and Orange scent** which comes with the following description:

"Prepare to be revived and energised with Spicy Ginger and Orange. The sweet aroma of orange combined with the warm scent of ginger will gradually awaken all of your senses"

The Genie who accompanies this scent is called Blaise and he is said to have "magic in his squinted eyes and his tone as dry as the desert sand. He has a love for astrology, he speaks through the stars, and he can read yours. He is enough to make a mashed potato feel intense".

Imperial_Leather_Foamburst

I am quite a fan of Foamburst products, I like how they turn from a gel into a creamy lather when you spray some onto the palms of your hands. As soon as this product is released the scent immediately becomes noticeable, the orange scent being really noticeable when it comes into contact with the steam of the water whilst in the shower. After using it, my skin felt soft and smooth and the scent still noticeable on the skin.

Find out more about Blaise and his Foamburst product below:

The new Imperial Leather Foamburst range is available from all major retailers, RRP £2.99 for a 200ml bottle Find all the Foamburst Genies online at www.foamburstgenies.com

Simple Skincare: Kind to City Skin Giveaway

Those of you who read my blog will know that I am quite a fan of the skincare range Simple and that I use quite a few of their products.

Simple have recently launched their Kind To City Skin campaign to educate women on the effect urban living can have on their skin. The experts at Simple Skincare have discovered that factors such as pollution ,stress, weather and artificial environments causing redness, dryness and flake which are all signs of sensitive skin, not to mention the stress associated with a fast paced city environment can be harmful to our skin’s health and can make all skin sensitive.

Simple has worked with top dermatologists and the Simple Advisory Board to produce a campaign to educate women on the causes of skin sensitivity and to encourage women to be kind to their skin with Simple. Having a good skincare routine is important to combat the effects of city life. Simple is the brand you can trust to be kind to your city skin, as sensitive skin experts.  The range contains no artificial perfumes and colours and no harsh chemicals in their products.

So alongside their #KindToCitySkin campaign, I have been asked to host a competition on their behalf and it's a good one!  It is open for just ONE WEEK and the ‘City Skin’ goodie bag will include:

Guest Post | The 5 major benefits of using UV nail polish

GlazeMe UV Nail Polish
If you’ve never used UV gel polish before, you wouldn’t know the benefits that it has over standard lacquer! To help you out, and to ensure you’ll never go back to standard polish, here are the five major benefits of using UV nail polish!

1. It lasts longer than regular polish

UV gel polish lasts for about three weeks usually – without chipping, fading or scratching off at all! That’s a lifetime in the nail polish world. As long as you cure it properly with the UV light it will last up to three times longer than normal polish. It’s absolutely worth using it; you’ll need to re-apply your lacquer less often, you won’t be as worried about smudging it straight after application, and lastly, there will be plenty of time in-between to choose your next colour.

2. It dries quickly!

Due to the curing UV light that is used, the UV gel polish dries within minutes. Not only is it handy for manicures, but absolutely perfect for pedicures – the quick drying feature means you can put shoes on merely minutes after painting your nails, and you will never worry about accidently knocking your hand into something smudge-worthy. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!

3. It’s free from harmful chemicals

There are no harmful chemicals in UV gel polish, meaning that it’s not at all damaging to your nails. You can use this polish as many times as you like and you’ll never see your nails get weak or discoloured. That’s great news for anyone who is conscious of what they put on their skin and in their body. There’s no downside to using this miracle stuff!

4. It’s super easy to apply!

This polish is so easy to apply that it basically applies itself! As you paint it on your fingernails, the polish ‘self-levels’ and gets rid of the bumps and ridges on it’s own without you having to lift a finger. Simply apply it in the same way you apply normal nail polish, and you’ll end up with a smooth finish like never before!

5. It’s easy to take off!

UV gel polish is really simple to remove, which only makes it more inviting to use. The easiest way to remove UV gel polish is by soaking a finger wrap in acetone and wrap it around your finger for 10-12 minutes. For a more effective removal, wrap aluminium foil around the wrap to ensure it soaks into the polish completely. Once the 10 minutes is up, slide the wrap off – and bask in the simplicity of removing your polish.

There are clearly no downsides to using UV gel polish – so perhaps you should invest in some right away (unless you’ve already done the right thing and got some!) There are plenty of places to get UV polish from online, head to online stores like Glaze Me to look through all the colours, and perhaps purchase a couple while you’re there.

How to Rock Swimwear this Summer

How to Rock Swimwear this Summer

Whatever your shape or size there's guaranteed to a swimsuit or bikini to suit you. It's funny how, the minute the sun comes out, we all dread getting into our swimwear that summer - we hit the gym, jump on the wii fit, go out for more runs and try to eat healthier, just to look that little bit better on the beach and by the pool. There are certain tricks you can use however that will help transform your body, highlight your best bits and hide the ones you aren't so keen on, without upping the fitness routine. So how do you do that with swimwear? Read on and take a look:

Boyish and Slim Figures

If you want to create curves, go for a padded bikini top. You can also add the illusion of being slightly wider than you are by wearing horizontal stripes. You'll also find that you can wear pretty much any type of swimwear thanks to your fantastic figure, be it a string bikini or a cut out swimming costume. You may find it hard to believe but a cut out swimming costume can actually create curves thanks to the way in which it's cut, so don't shy away from them.

Big Bust

If you have a large bust, you need a costume that offers plenty of support. Whether that's in an underwired bikini, or a costume or tankini with built in support, is up to you, but you need to have your assets under control so to speak. Halternecks are great for this, but you can get away with wearing any style of neck if the support is right. If you want to create the illusion of smaller breasts, wear a lighter colour on your bottom half and a darker colour on top.

Large Stomachs

Many women are conscious of their tummies, particularly after having children, but the key is to disguise it. Buy a swimsuit with added support in the stomach area to help cinch you in where you need it, and consider one with ruching around the tummy or prints, both of which will help to disguise what's going on under your swimming cossie. George at ASDA's swimwear offers some great choices to help ladies who'd prefer to keep their tummy underwraps, including the Bodysculpt Mixed Animal Print Swimsuit and the Spot Ruche Swimsuit. Both of which are just what ladies with insecurities about their tummies need to feel confident on the beach this summer.

Pear Shaped

If you're bigger on the hips than you are on your bust, try a costume that is darker on the bottom than on the top. This will give the perception that you are in fact smaller on your bottom half than you are. You might also find that a chevron style print will work equally as well when worn all over the costume.

If all else fails of course there are some amazing cover ups that are just perfect for the beach and around the pool available to buy from George at ASDA and on the high street, so, no matter what, you'll end up feeling confident in your swimwear this year.

Father's Day Delivery

Every once in a while I forget something, I am of course only human.  Fathers Day is quite a big deal to me, I only have one Dad (two Father-in-laws) and this is the one day I get to send him something that he really likes and enjoys and I get to let him know how much he means to me.  We share a private joke every year, he always knows what I am buying him, I don't even have to mention it, he knows this gift is coming and every year I joke and say I am going to do something different one year.

This year I almost forgot, I had bought his present, which is a bottle of his favourite Whisky, in time, wrapped it securely and packaged it up ready to send off. I then got distracted by other things and this package sat there, and sat there until I suddenly realised two days before that I hadn't sent this parcel to my Dad and I needed it to arrive on the 14th June before 6pm because Dad was going fishing overnight and wouldn't be back until late Sunday and as Father's Day was 15th and there is no Sunday delivery, I need a solution.

Thankfully for me TNT saved the day.  This was my second time using TNT and I am really impressed with their service.  You can go on the website and get a price finder for how much it is going to cost, my package cost just £9.95 just VAT which was significantly cheaper than other avenues.  If you are not sure how to book your package, there is a really helpful online chat assistant who talks you through all of the options.  What I liked was not having to go through the effort of making an account to send one parcel, I could fill in all the relevant details, pay by my card, print off everything I needed and the job is done.

Following the four easy steps:
  • Enter Parcel Details to get a quote
  • Select the service you require
  • Enter the collection details and the destination details
  • Confirm and Pay

Now for me, as someone who works from 8am until sometimes 6-7pm in an evening with half an hour for lunch, someone coming to collect my package from me is a lifesaver because there is no way I can make it to go and take my package to be posted, it is quite a distance to walk, the Post Office is closed in a morning when I leave and the same in an evening.  Also I often work weekends as well and have the same problem.

Then once you have booked your parcel in for collection, a TNT representative comes to you office/home to collect it from you and off it goes on its way. Once it has left, you can track whether or not it has been delivered using the consignment number that you will have been given when booking your packaged for delivery.

Throughout the whole booking process, there is the use of the livechat should you get a little confused and the FAQ section is really helpful.

TNT don't just deliver in the UK, they deliver worldwide and again the countries to which they deliver too can be found on the main website.  You can also post larger items and as with many items you might want to post, there are rules and regulations which need to be adhered too and once again, everything you need with regards to that is clearly visible.

Having now used TNT a few times, I have found them to be brilliant.  The package to my Dad arrived in plenty of time and in one piece.  I have also received quite a lot of packages via TNT and again, they have always arrived on time and in one piece.

Have you ever used TNT? How do you send your packages and parcels?

HER Haircare Rituals

Whenever I am asked if I would like to try some new haircare products, I always jump at the chance. As well as trying my best to ensure my skin is kept in tiptop condition, my hair is just as important.

HER Haircare Rituals is a brand I had never heard of until a wonderfully packaged lot of products arrived at my door. The brand, if you haven't heard of them comes from a place called Veneto in Italy and is co-owned by entertainer John Barrowman who is also the co-creator. From his own eyes, he has seen first hand what women’s hair has to endure on a daily basis. whether it is colouring and blowdrying to curling and straightening, a performer’s hair has no time to recover from these treatments. And neither does yours. It is said that the average woman’s hair endures a great deal more stress than most men’s. This is why John and HER haircare have designed these products which help combat the effects of daily styling, air conditioning and many environmental factors to reverse the damage caused by everyday life.

So in my package was the Nourishing range which comprised of a shampoo, conditoner, hair treatment and a nourishing oil. My hair is combination, it has greasy roots and dry ends, is quite fine but I have a lot of hair on my head. I tend to wash my hair every other day in the summer and every two days in the winter unless I feel it is necessary to wash it more frequently. Once a week or at least once every two weeks, I use a treatment on my hair as I have always been told to do by any hairdresser.

HER Haircare Rituals

The first things to note about this range is the rather stylish packaging. Pure white bottles with black lids and the HER logo right in the centre of the bottle, they are sleek in design whjch wouldn't look out of place in an exclusive salon.

Nourishing Shampoo, £15.00. This is described as follows:

"This luxurious cleanser offers complete nutrition for dry, damaged hair. A blend of revitalising natural sugars with hydrolysed sweet almond, wheat and rice proteins, intensely nourishes the hair leaving it soft, supple and brilliantly shiny"

As soon as you open the lid, as I always do with any new product to smell it, this is most definitely a scent I really like. It has one of those fresh scents combined with a citrusy blend which makes for an uplifting scent and something you would probably like as a candle to create an atmosphere to give you that get up and go. Once on the hair it lathers with ease and you only need a small amount to cover your entire head, something I particualy like in a product as there is nothing worse than using half the bottle and only get minimal lather, it never feels as though you have washed your hair. It is as easy to wash out as it is to apply and once you have done so and my hair always feels lovely and soft, not lank or overly heavy.

HER Haircare Rituals

Nourishing Conditioner, £17.00 described as follows:

"This velvety conditioner contains natural oils including Olive, Avocado and Brazil Nut which effortlessly nourish, to replace lost moisture and protect dry, distressed hair restoring weightless body and natural shine".

I don't use a conditioner everytime I wash my hair, I have found they weigh to heavy on my hair, but this conditioner I really really like. Again ti has a fresh scent too it, though totally different from the shampoo and you can get a definite scent of Avocado. Once this has been applied to the mid-lengths and ends of you hair, you leave it on for 30 seconds before rinising out, again an easy task which doesn't require a lot of rinsing to ensure every last trace is removed.

The final two products withing my package was the 300 Trecento Treatment and the Nourishing Oil.

The 300 Trecento Treatment comes packaged in a box which mimics the design of the shampoo and conditioner bottles, only inside the pot if black and looks even more exclusive. It won't surprised you to hear that this treatment smells good enough to eat, it is almost heavenly. Unlike most treatments, you actually use this before washing and conditioning and to use you ensure your hair is slightly damp, towel off any excess water and then apply from root to tip and leave for 300 seconds (clever name) or 5 minutes. You can of course opt for a deeper conditioning treatment which you leave on for 15 minutes.

HER Haircare Rituals

HER Haircare Rituals

This Treatment is described as follows:

"This weekly pre shampoo treatment is at the core of the Her haircare ritual. A one-step deep conditioning treatment clinically proven to rebuild and repair dry/damaged hair. A must have for anybody using hot styling tools.

In just 300 seconds (5 minutes) natural plant extracts including Shea butter, Olive and wheat protein penetrate the hair to rebuild, strengthen & moisturise from within. The Trecento Treatment creates a protective layer to restore resilience, strength and elasticity to minimise frizz, enhancing health & shine".

HER Haircare Rituals

HER Haircare Rituals

Once you have had the treatment on which the allotted time, you simply wash out using warm water (not hot). When I used this for the first time, I had expected it to leave my hair feeling lank and greasy, a problem I have encountered with similar products, however it did neither of those and once I had completed the washing and conditioning process, my hair felt soft and smooth and really well conditioned. Given it is packed with oils, vitamins and natural ingredients like Shea Butter, Olive and Ginseng, it is no wonder my hair always feels so lovely after use and what's more, an absolute pleasure to style.

Finally the Nourishing Oil which is a clear see-through bottle this time, is described as follows:

"This luxurious, weightless elixir powered with four precious oils; Argan, Radish, Sweet Cherry and Moringa nourish, tame, detangle, and protect the hair leaving it feeling silky, supple, and with a lustrous shine".

HER Haircare Rituals

To use you simply rub 2 or 3 drops between your fingers and run all the way through the mid lengths to the ends of the hair, it is easy to use because the bottle has a pump action dispenser to make life much easier. Once you have combed through and styled your hair as you would normally do, like me you should notice how super soft and shiny your hair is, not to mention how amazing it smells.

I have really enjoyed using these products, they smell amazing, they leave my hair feeling soft, smooth and super shiny and I just love the packaging.

Have you tried this range?

Murad Balance and Protect Travel Kit

As you read this, I will be in France for a few days and the stress of deciding what I need to take with me has arrived.  I am only doing hand luggage as it is which means I can't take numerous pairs of shoes (always a good thing) and the crazy liquid limit always annoys me!

The lovely people over at Murad sent me one of their 'Travel Light, Stay Clear and Bright' travel-sized skincare sets which are exclusive to Marks & Spencer and cost just £10! There is a choice of three different sets:
  • Smooth and Soften Travel Kit - Tackles fine line and wrinkles
  • Youthful You Travel Kit - Firms and Brightens the skin

I was sent the Balance and Protect Travel Kit which arrives in this cute little bag, which you can see below.  What I instantly liked about this kit is that it is travel handy and you can see everything in it and you don't need to faff about getting all your liquids out because it is all within the limit.

Murad Balance and Protect Travel Kit

Within this kit you will find:
