Could you turn your hobby into a business?

Have you ever wanted to or dreamt of starting your own business? As a blogger who receives and gets to try out some amazing products, have you ever sat down and come up with your own ideas? Your own fashion range, your own make of chocolate, making your own candles or even something that you might not blog about, but you think the world needs?  Imagine turning your hobby into a business!

I am sure many of us sit down and dream of doing exactly this but are never to sure whether it is a good idea, ingenious or even know where to start. Virgin startup loans, if you have not heard of it, is a not-for-profit organisation that helps entrepreneurs with the funding, resources and advice that they need to make their business idea a reality. Launched in 2012, Start Up Loans are aimed at entrepreneurs looking for funding to launch or grow a business and has to date backed over 10,000 businesses giving around £80m worth of support and funding to those entrepreneurs.

Some of those businesses that I have been reading about for example include a lady by the name of Ida who wanted a photo booth at her wedding, not able to find one which she has happy with her solution was to buy her own with the £5800 she was given to fund her idea and now she hopes her business will be the most recognizable photo booth hire company in the UK by 2016.  Then there is YuCoCo a handmade chocolate company who also won some funding.  They are a unique brand who offer bespoke chocolates with a choice of over 120 toppings, made exactly how you want it along with personalisation and gift cards delivered within a few days of ordering, almost like flower delivery but in chocolate form.

Obviously there are some important steps that you have to complete and go through in order to be successful and gain your funding, but if this sound like the answer you are looking for to make you a successful entrepreneur then your journey can begin if the answer is YES if you:

• Are over the age of 18.
• Are a UK resident with the right to work in the UK?
• Have the right to be self-employed?
• Have been trading for less than 12 months.
• Have not already received a loan from another Delivery Partner.
• Have a Visa for more than 6 months validity beyond the end of the requested loan term.

From there you will have to sign-up following the guidance on the website. Once you have registered you will then be contacted and taken through the next steps and everything you need to know can be found on the Virgin Startup Website to help you through that process.

So, have you ever dreamed of starting your own business? Maybe there is an idea in your head which has come about through blogging and now that idea can become a reality in just a few simple steps, so what are you waiting for?
