My Blogging New Year Resolutions

Firstly, welcome to 2014, can you believe we are here already? No, me neither, but we are and I can guarantee it is going to take me a good few weeks to get to grips with writing 2014 and not 2013.

Making New Year Resolutions is not something I tend to do, as I said in a previous post, get bored and then break them, but it doesn't mean I shouldn't try does it?  I have been inspired by some of the other posts I have read on this, so here is my 'try a bit harder list' and they are all blog related:

  1. Reply to all my comments.  I am notoriously bad at doing this when it is such a simple task.  I do end up getting round to it, but I don't really think that is good enough.  So I will reply to you all.
  2. Read new blogs - I am a creature of habit and tend to stick with those people I follow and it is a rare thing for me to branch out and read new blogs.  Infact the only time I do read new blogs is when I ask for links at the end of chat and in doing that I have come across some fabulous blogs.
  3. Photos.  I think my photos are pretty awful, I tend to take them quickly and on a whim when I think the light is right and then I see other peoples such as Gemma from Missmakeupmagpie and her photos are just stunning.  So I need to learn how do this right and do it properly.
  4. Meet more Bloggers.  I have been lucky enough to meet quite a few of you in the last year via events and meet-ups but I want to meet more of you and see those I have met again.  So that means not shying away from events I am fortunate enough to be invited too and actually asking a few of you if you want to meet for lunch, coffee and so on.  There are enough of us in and around London to do this.
  5. Bandwagon hopping.  Just because loads of you say a product is brilliant, it doesn't mean I need to rush to Boots, Debenhams or wherever and buy it.  I need to be more sensible and not hop on that Blog Bandwagon.  If it is a product that I want, would like to try and so on, then fair enough, but not just go out and buy it without thinking it through.  So a no-spend January it is!
  6. Empties Posts.  I have done one or two of these and then I am forever forgetting to save the things I have used up for a post.  I am not going to commit to saying I will do these frequently, but I am going to try and remember to do them.  I already have a bag in the bathroom with two empties in it!
  7. Sample Posts.  I quite like writing about samples that I have used and I haven't done this for a while, so I want to bring this feature back to my blog.
  8. My Nails.  I need to learn to look after them more, I spend most of my days at a computer typing and I am hopeless at remembering to wear rubber gloves when cleaning.  They are brittle, they peel and once again are all different lengths.  So I need something to harden them up, stop the peeling and file them properly, even if that means having a proper manicure first.
  9. Increase my readership.  This is a bit of a weird resolution as it is more of a goal, but I would love to have more blog readers and if anyone has any hints or tips for me, please do share them below or drop me an email beautyqueenuk@gmail.com
  10. Support my Hubby in his blogging venture.  The blog is set up, it has its own domain name and I am just waiting for him to finish his first post.  I am quite excited by this and I hope some of you will also give him some support too.
Well there you have it.  A bit of a mix of things I would to do, achieve and try to aim for.  Have you done one of these posts? I would love to read it if you have.  Also if you have any pointers, advice, things you want to know, tips, tricks and whatever else you think I need to know, want to try and should do, please let me know....

    1. For your nails - you NEED OPI Nail Envy (the matte version is cheaper and usually around £6 on Amazon) if I apply it, my nails improve in literally days - with them looking whiter, being stronger and growing so much - perfect for NOTD posts :)) xxx

  8. Great ones! My biggest resolution for my blog this year is just to reallly focus on my quality of everything. Sometimes I skip little things cause I want to get a post up, instead of taking the extra 25 minutes to make it really great.

    Happy New Year :)

  20. Good luck!! I would also love to be able to take better photos - but unfortunately I think it would require a better camera, a SLR, and not just using my shoot-and-go Nikon, so that is on my wish list... oh, and wouldn't we all love to have more readers and followers, even though its a bit of a naughty word to say.... maybe we could guest post for each other to that way spread our wings a little??

  24. I am rubbish at taking photo's! I even bought a portable photo studio to try and improve on them but because of the Christmas Tree being up I have to take them in the kitchen and the light in there is poor so they still come out looking bad lol. I think a lot of my problem though is the camera. I still take pics on my phone ... not very professional!

Good luck with your resolutions. Maybe we could collaborate on a couple of posts? Will have a think and drop your a message tomorrow and see if you like the idea.

  25. I think I'm bad at taking pictures too. I think the main reason for it though is because my camera is so darn old, but I have no money to spend on getting a new one. I think one of my goals this year is to save up for a new one!

  33. Use a nail oil daily to solve the brittleness and peeling, they will also start to grow like wildfire once they have resumed a good moisture balance. Any good nail oil will do the trcik, including good old plain and simple Almond Oil :-)

Good luck with all of your resolutions,
