December Glossybox

After last months 'iffy' Glossybox where upon which none of the items would ever feature on my wishlist, we now have December, a box I had been quite looking forward too given some of the spoilers I had seen and the fact Glossybox themselves seemed quite chuffed that every box would have a Maybelline product inside.

Here we have what was in my box.

So already I am really impressed with the packaging and surprisingly it is actually Christmassy and something I would expect to find.  The candycane tissue paper is really pretty and inside, protecting the items is a bright green tissue paper, clearly in keeping with the Christmas theme.  Now to the products:

So we have:

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics Pinky Nude Lip Gloss (Picture to come)
BMC is a company that has been set up by former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt. This gloss has no scent and thankfully hasn't got the horrid sticky quality to it like so many lip glosses do! The colour is a fairly subtle, it is kind of pretty and thankfully it doesn't make you lips overly pale or orangey. I like this but I don't love this and I wouldn't necessarily be purchasing this again and probably wouldn't choose it over another colour.

Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Razor
Not too sure how I feel about finding this in my "luxury sample box" to be honest with you nor why it would feature in my Christmas Box and not at any other time of the year, like the summer when I am more likely to have my legs out.

Maybelline New York Colour Tattoo 24hr Eye Shadow - Everlasting Navy
Whilst I am happy to see a Maybelline product and as beautiful as this one is, sadly it is not a colour I would ever choose to wear.  If there is someone out there who reads my blog and would love to try it, please let me know and I will send it to one of you because I would hate for it to go to waste.

Seche Nail Lacquer - Audacious
I am a huge fan of Seche nail polishes and I was quite chuffed to see this, not usually a colour I would choose and it is referred to as being 'Red Fuscia' I am more than willing to give it a try.

Lipsy London Glam Perfume
Hmm mixed feelings about this 'sample' of perfume. The brand new perfume from Lipsy is described as being "Strikingly gorgeous, amazingly beautiful, exceptionally glamorous and forever aspirational" well, it isn't a perfume that I would ever buy to wear, though the actual bottle is stunning. As for the scent, it is said to combine fruity honey and sweet top notes, the heart notes complement with Orchid, Jasmine and Peony and the base notes are deep with Amarylis and black incense. I find it a bit too strong for my senses sadly.

I've come to the conclusion that 'samples' of perfume in these beauty boxes should be just that, a sample and not an alternative for someone else.

Overall, I was more excited about the actual box and tissue paper than the contents. It is estimated to be worth just over £30, I could have got a lot more for my money.

What do you think?

  1. I got the same but my Maybelline product was a brow gel in dark brown and I'm very fair haired and pale so it's useless to me. Instead of the perfume sample, I got a full size Rituals hand balm that retails at £10. I can't believe that they think it's comparable to a perfume sample . I've seen some people getting sachets of moisturiser that say 'free sample' on them as well. It just doesn't seem very fair to me. My blog is allinbeauty.com if you want to check it out, my review of the December Glossybox is on there as well xx

  2. I would of been exactly the same about the razor, really does not scream Christmas and glamourous really (it is however a full sized product). Eye tattoo is a lovely colour, trying to find a decent navy is hard, coukd be used as a liner (with a brush) instead of all over. X

  3. I thought the same about the razor, it's always welcomed having a new razor but Christmas / Winter time is a time you keep your legs all wrapped up so would make more sense to get this in the summer.

That nail varnish is a pretty shade, as is the color tattoo. Like Helen above said it could be used as a eyeliner instead :D

Instead of the perfume I got a decent sized sample of a honey soap, definitely not comparable with a perfume you can get for free. I think if beauty boxes send perfumes out it should be the 6th item they send, like an added extra. >.<

  5. Oh that's a shame you don't like the colour. I've just used my points for this box, have been waiting for months for a decent one! Hopefully it won't disappoint. Yes it is quite odd to find a razor, not really christmasy!

  6. The actual box and tissue paper look good Rachel! Liking the make-up and Seche polish but can't get my head around the razor? I nearly caved and bought this box xx

  7. Shame you didn't like the colour, but I must admit I am not too keen either! I still don't get why they add perfume samples into these boxes, it puts me off ever subscribing too one!

  8. This year glossy box seems to have gone down hill. Perhaps there is too much competition in the subscription boxes world. Nice review though, thanks for sharing :-) xx

  9. I agree with you, a razor is an odd one! Useful to have of course but would make more sense in a summer box. I always think perfume samples should be a bonus product, it seems unfair if other boxes had decent samples instead of this xx

  11. Glossybox seems to have gone downhill recently....I cancelled my subscription over a year ago and glad I did! The razor is an odd product to include, the eyeshadow does look like a lovely colour but the rest just seems a bit "meh". I'm subscribed to Souk Souk and its amazing, This month I got a facial oil, an oil cleanser, a healing balm, an anti-ageing moisturiser and a deodorant. It's all natural & organic but its fab you should check that out xx

  12. I'm very jealous you got one of the colour tattoo eye shadows but I also wouldn't have been particularly impressed with that particular colour. I prefer you're nail varnish shade to mine as well x
