Alison Claire - Mango Body Butter

Every so often in one of the beauty boxes that I subscribe too, I come across a product which I immediately like and know I will continue to use. Whenever these boxes do arrive, I endeavour to use all of the sample sent, most of which last between 2-3 weeks as I feel that should give me a decent amount of time to decide whether or not I like the item.

Alison Claire - Mango Body Butter

Alison Claire, So Remarkable, Mango Butter is one of those products that I just love. For me the sample arrived in a plastic bottle, similar to the sample sizes you get for The Sanctuary Spa products in boots, it is marketed as being a 50ml pocket-sized bottle retailing for £7.99. The bottle had pull off plastic lid and a pump action dispenser which is really easy to use and around the middle of the bottle was a label which told you the name of the brand and what it was - in this case it was Mango Body Butter by Alison Claire and underneath all of that was the following "So beautifully natural, so rich and nourishing".

I had never heard of Alison Claire before I was introduced to the products via Glossybox so being naturally curious I looked around for information. Alison Claire is a real person as well as a brand name and she has been a health practitioner for around 30 years, so her biog tells us and it was in 1991 that she began to produce her own products with the moniker "So Remarkable". All of the products from within this range such as shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, body cream, body butter, foot cream, face cream, hand-wash, shower gel and many more beside, are all made using natural ingredients and one thing that stood out to me was this - "None of the products in the Alison Claire So Remarkable range are tested on animals, they are all vegan friendly and free from parabens, PEGs, and phenoxyethanol. All are manufactured under Alison's watchful eye - prepared and blended by hand from the finest quality raw materials; along with Alison's own passion for purity this ensures only the very best results."

This particular body butter smells wonderful and comes with a really nice list of ingredients which are designed to nourish your skin and leave it feeling soft, smooth and moisturised, not to mention smelling absolutely divine and the instructions on how to use it (yes they are some) are obviously fairly straight forward, but helpful. It is designed to be used after a bath or shower once you have patted your skin dry and then squeezing the dispenser or the airless pump as it is referred to as being, a blob on the body butter will appear on the palm of your hand. The body butter itself looks similar to Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Buttercream both in colour and texture and the aroma of Mango is really fragrant and really fresh. Once you have dispensed the body butter, you apply it to your body, you only need a thin layer to cover your skin and then you simply massage it in, using the tips of your fingers and it does absorb itself with relative ease, melting into the skin leaving behind the lovely fruity smell on your skin and no greasy feel once it has absorbed itself.

Alison Claire - Mango Body Butter

Ingredients in products like this are all too important. Naturally there is fresh organic mango which is nourishing for the skin and is often used in wrinkle treatments. Mango is also used for dry skin issues as it moisturises and softens the skin, it can also help with muscle aches and fatigue to name just a few of the benefits and unsurprisingly Cocoa Butter is also an ingredient and similarly to Mango, the skin benefits from its ability to soften, smooth and moisturise. Next comes Aloe Vera and again an ingredient which is becoming more popular and it soothes the skin, especially skin which is irritated and inflamed. Green tea comes next and it is described as being an antioxidant which means it protects the skin from damage for example, caused by UV rays which in turn can lead to premature ageing. Green Tea also helps skin cells rejuvenate and helps calm inflamed skin. The final one to mention is Comfrey which helps to hydrate the skin, reduce inflammation and leave the skin feeling soft and smooth to the touch. There is a much longer list of ingredients which can be found on the back of the bottle for reference and information.

After a few hours of this body butter being applied to your skin you can still smell the fruity mango on your skin. As for my skin, soft, supple, smooth to the touch, moisturised, hydrated are all the words which spring to mind. At work I tend to spend a lot of my time printing things, dealing with paper, typing and so on, so I find my skin does become quite dry on my arms, around my elbows and even with this horrid snow ridden weather that we are currently experiencing, all takes it toll on your skin, so having a product like this is really lovely, even better that I can carry it around in my handbag and use as I see fit.

Since I received my first bottle back in November from my Glossybox, I have since purchased a further bottle to keep in my desk drawer, which for £7.99 I find worth the money. It can be bought online via the Alison Claire website or online through other sites. The bottle I have is £7.99 for 50ml and it will last you 3-4 months is you use it fairly regularly, the alternative is to spend around £15 and buy a 200ml tub of the product, which again is readily available online, I haven't yet seen it on the high street.
